200 Best Gargoyles Quotes

Brooklyn: How are we supposed to find them?
Broadway: [points to a battle in the distance] Three guesses.

Owen: Mr MacBeth, Mr Xanatos hired you to fumigate his castle, not destroy it.

Goliath: [Elisa's now a gargoyle] I never realized, when you were human, how beautiful you were.
Elisa: You mean, you thought I was ugly?

Brooklyn: Wouldn't it be great to be a shapeshifter?
Lexington: We wouldn't have to hide. We could fit in anywhere.
Broadway: We could find new friends, maybe even... love.
Hudson: Be careful what you wish for, lad.

Demona: You're no match for me as a pitiful human.
Goliath: My strength has never depended on brute force.
[Elisa knocks Demona down]
Goliath: But on true friends.

Broadway: Elisa, why don't I go with you? *I* can be your partner.
Elisa: I already have one partner to worry about tonight. I don't need another two.
[chuckles]
Elisa: Go back to your movie.

Elisa: Your loyalty is admirable, but he told you to "guard our home."
Hudson: Aye, that he did.
Elisa: Hudson, you and I both know it's not your home any more.

Brooklyn: How come whenever you and I take Bronx out we wind up like this?

Elisa: I just hope you handle that vacuum cleaner better than you handle a squad car.
Matt: How would you know? You never let me drive.

Goliath: You know Demona?
MacBeth: Know her? I named her!

David: Without you and your friends, who knows what those thugs would've done.
Goliath: Someone I once trusted said the same thing to me. And then destroyed my people.

Demona: [looking down at a crime scene] They hold each other's lives completely without worth. Do you really think they would accept us with open arms?
Brooklyn: [sighs] No.

MacBeth: [after throwing Broadway] You understand I don't get any real pleasure from this.
[Broadway growls]
MacBeth: Well you've got courage beastie. I'll give you that... What you don't have... is a prayer.

Goliath: Keep fighting, Elisa. Don't give up. Come back to us. Know that I will finish what you started. I will find the man who did this to you and I will make him pay!

Broadway: Elisa, I'm sorry about the bomb. But it proves how dangerous this case is.
Elisa: Too dangerous for an amateur detective playing out a movie fantasy!
Broadway: Matt was no amateur and he worked alone. Where'd it get him? Elisa let me be your partner!

Goliath: Tell him the truth.
Elisa: The truth! The *whole* truth? Including the part about gargoyles living in New York? That's not my secret to tell!
Broadway: You shouldn't have to. He should trust you.
Brooklyn: Trust doesn't mean much without honesty.

Elisa: [Watching a robber turn himself in] You know what guys? The city feels safer already.

Elisa: Who... what are you?
Goliath: My kind have no names, but you humans call me Goliath.
Elisa: Your kind? You mean there's more than one of you?
Goliath: [deep breath] Barely.

Hudson: [sees a framed medal] What is this?
[He hands it to Robbins, who feels it]
Jeffery: My Purple Heart. For this.
[indicates his blind eyes]
Jeffery: So busy trying to herd a bunch of green kids through 'Nam that I didn't watch my step. Shrapnel - you never see it coming.
Hudson: "Nam"?
Jeffery: Vietnam. The war? Funny, something about your voice made me think you were a soldier once.
Hudson: Aye. I still am, I suppose.

Lexington: Oh Halloween! Tonight's the night!
Brooklyn: I can hardly wait! We can walk around on the streets and nobody will know who we are.
Broadway: Better yet, no one will know *what* we are!

Elisa: [they're buried under rubble] You all right?
Broadway: I've had better nights.
Broadway: I've got a pocket light.
[Coughs]
Broadway: Not much air in here. Tell me those claws of yours can dig us out.
Broadway: I... don't think so.
[turns to stone]
Elisa: Uh oh.

Matt: [as Elisa's running to her car] Yo, Partner!
Elisa: No offense, Matt. But this some I have to handle *alone*.
Matt: No way, not with those stainless steel monsters out there.
Elisa: Look this is one time I don't want a partner.
Matt: Yeah? Well that's usually the time you need one the *most*.
Elisa: Come on. Get in.

Broadway: We've got to stop her.
Goliath: Yes. But how? We cannot lock her up here, and I will *not* discuss the alternative!

Owen: [after Goliath destroys the weapons] Mr. Xanatos isn't going to like this.
Goliath: I'll be happy to discuss the matter with him.

[first lines]
Morgan: [to the crowd] Get back! Get back!
Elisa: [Showing her badge] Maza! 23rd. What's going on?
Morgan: Got me, detective. Must be a heck of a party up there!

Demona: We've dreamed for a thousand years, Goliath. It's time for our dreams to come true.

Goliath: Given what happened, I wish you *had* accompanied us last night, Hudson.
Brooklyn: Hudson?
Hudson: Aye, it's my name. And what would you make of it?
Broadway: It's a fine name.
Lexington: Hudson. I - uh - I like it.
Brooklyn: We should choose names too. Names that suit our new lives here.
Goliath: Oh? And what might they be?
Brooklyn: [scratches his head, and thinks] MM. Brooklyn. I'm Brooklyn!
Broadway: Broadway.
Lexington: Lexington. Do you like it?
Goliath: [of their pet] They're all fine names. I guess he'll need one as well.
Brooklyn: Oh ho. I've got one for him too. From now on, you're Bronx!

Demona: I want you to get rid of the humans. ALL of them.
Puck: Does this look like Aladdin's lamp? I have limits, after all.

Elisa: What's going on here?
Travis: Looks like that urban myth about gargoyles just became urban reality.

Goliath: Someday I trust, you will your way back, my brother, my sister. And when you do, I want you to be among friends.

Jogger: [of Goliath] I've run this path for five years, I never noticed that statue before.
Elisa: This park's full of surprises.

Wolf: When we took this job, we were promised fame money and action. I'm not complaining about the first two. But I could use more of third.

Tony: [after Elisa gets the bag] Maza, you are beautiful.
Elisa: So are your stone, Tony.
Tony: We had a deal. Once I have the gems, I'll let you go. Trust me.
Elisa: *Trust* you?
Tony: Look down, sugar. Do you see any other options here?
Elisa: [Looking down] As a matter of fact, I do.
[jumps]

Broadway: Feel the air currents. Use them, just like you do with your wings.
Brooklyn: Yeah, use the force, Lex

Goliath: [to Hakon; first lines] You are trespassing.

Dingo: Hey back off, Wolf. You don't know who you're dealing with here, mate.
Jackal: Good point. When's the last time you ripped an iron gate off its hinges?
Wolf: I settle for tearing this jerk IN HALF!
[charges Coyote. Coyote counter attacks and throws Wolf back]
Coyote: Want to see me use both hands?
Wolf: Coyote, huh? When I get through with you they're gonna call you "ROAD KILL!"

Elisa: [pointing her weapon at Xanatos] You're going nowhere, Xanatos!
David: Sorry, business. You understand.
[flies off]

Elisa: You did your best, Broadway. Now it's my turn.

Broadway: I did it, Elisa. I figured out where the Falcon was.
Elisa: I knew you would, Broadway. Now it's Matt who needs a hand. I'll be okay. Go!

Wolf: Well another day, another half million dollars.

Peter: Any prints on the gun?
Maria: Some. But so badly smudged they don't even look human. Whoever the shooter is, we'll find him. No one hits a cop and gets away with it. No one!

Broadway: [as Lexington takes the controls] Sure you can fly this?
Lexington: Hey, it's just like the simulator game back at the tower.
Brooklyn: Famous last words.
[pause they all scream]
Lexington: Maybe not the same.

Elisa: Listen Goliath, we haven't know each other very long and I know you don't have any good reason to trust humans...
[he turns away; she touches his face and turns it back]
Elisa: But you've got to trust somebody in this world. And I think you'd be better off with me than with Xanatos...
[He crumples the paper proving Xanatos' betrayal, growling]
Elisa: You won't regret it.

Owen: It would appear that your plan to learn the gargoyles' hiding place has gone awry, sir.
David: Not really. I have the Eye of Odin back in my private collection, and the city owes me a favor for donating it. I successfully tested this prototype battle exo-frame. And the most important thing...
Owen: Yes?
David: I was a little worried that I might be getting soft. But I was able to stand up against Goliath, the greatest warrior alive. I'd say I've still got the edge...

Elisa: Now it's war, Xanatos! You're going down for this. I promise you! No matter what it takes!

Brooklyn: [about joining the battle] Shall we let our brothers and sisters have all the fun?
[he glides into the battle]
Lexington: Not afraid are you?
Broadway: Afraid... Me? Ha. Why all of nature trembles at my passing.
[he puts his stomach but it flops back out]
Lexington: [chuckles] I can see why.
[they also glide into battle]

Goliath: All of my kind are dead... and now... you two will join them!

Goliath: [finding the surviving gargoyles stone despite it being night] What sorcery is this?

Broadway: [after almost getting hit by a car] New York drivers!

Brooklyn: Oh, not good. Not good.

Derek: Go ahead, try something! I'd love to do that again! Funny, I don't feel sleepy.
Dr. Anton Sevarius: [chuckles] Fool! That wasn't a tranquilizer dart. It was loaded with a mutagenic formula. The same formula I used on them!

Jeffery: Are you all right?
Hudson: I had a little trouble.
Jeffery: This beach isn't safe after dark. Do you need a doctor?
Hudson: No! Just a place to rest until sunrise. If I could lean on you...
Jeffery: Come on in. I've got a fire going.
Hudson: There's little I can offer in return, except my thanks.
Jeffery: That's payment in full.

Elisa: Shapeshifters, elves, fairies... you mean they're real?
Hudson: As real as I am, if the stories be true.

David: So now you know my weakness.
Goliath: Only you would regard love as a weakness.

Brooklyn: I was just trying to fit in!
Biker: Get him!

Goliath: [after rescuing two-would be victims from a gang, the couple runs from Goliath] Human gratitude?
Elisa: I guess... You know Goliath, you could be the *best* thing to happen to the city in a long time.

Goliath: What's wrong brother?
Coldstone: Why nothing, "brother."
Hudson: [grabs Goliath's arm to slow him] Stay back lad. Something's not right here.
Goliath: It's all right. I trust you brother.
Coldstone: Do you? Pity.
[pulls out laser and fires at Goliath]

Goliath: I've been denied *everything*! Even my revenge!

Elisa: [Rushing off] Come on hurry.
Matt: I can tell working with you is going to be good aerobics.

Lexington: [walking into the TV room] Hey, it's The Pack!
Brooklyn: Cool!
Hudson: [flipping through the channels] Something's wrong, it's on all the channels again!
Broadway: I thought you liked this show, Hudson.
Hudson: Aye, I do, but not every night!

Hudson: Well, what fills your nights now, Robbins?
Jeffery: I write novels. Or I did, until they dried up.
[Hudson looks at the full bookshelves in amazement]
Hudson: You wrote all of these?
Jeffery: [laughs] Wouldn't that be something! No. But I did have a few modest successes.

Elisa: [chuckling as she's walking in the park with Goliath] We're probably the only couple in the park who don't have to worry about muggers.

Goliath: [as Elisa leaves for work] I'll go with you perhaps I can learn something.
Elisa: [sarcastically] Why not? My car's big. I'm sure my partner won't notice you.

Bruno the Commander: It's over lady. Don't get me wrong, I admire you. You and that freak job took out four of my people. And now - uh oh.

Elisa: [after Goliath turns to stone] That's one way of avoiding a conversation.

Goliath: Release Broadway.
MacBeth: Heh, or what?
Goliath: [holds the scrolls over a fire] Or I'll burn the scrolls.
MacBeth: Go ahead. They're worthless. No magic at all.
Broadway: No! They *are* magic! But you can't burn them, Goliath. You *can't*! It's Merlin's life, in his own words. When you read them, they take you there. It is magic, Goliath. *Precious* magic.
Hudson: Aye, lad. 'Twould be the greatest shame to lose them.

Goliath: My angel, it really is you.
Demona: Oh, Goliath. All the days I've dreamed of you and this moment.
David: [Clears his throat] I'm very happy for you both.
Demona: This man has brought us together my love. We owe our reunion to David Xanatos.
Goliath: But how - You were shattered by the Vikings.
Demona: No. I feared for your safety so I left the castle to find you but I lost my way and the sun rose before I could return.
Goliath: How did you survive all these centuries?
Demona: When I returned to the castle the Magus had already turned you to stone. I begged him to cast his spell on me so that we might awaken together.
David: I saw her a year ago and was so impressed I acquired her for my private collection. Then after I woke *you* up it seemed plausible that a trip to the castle might have the same effect on her.
Goliath: With you alive, I can start to live again as well.
Demona: As you said, you and I are one. Now and forever.

Elisa: Look, just promise you'll call if there's trouble.
Derek: There won't be, but okay. I promise.
Elisa: Cross you heart...
Derek: And hope to die.

[last lines; after Puck has cast a spell that will let Demona walk in sunlight, without turning to stone]
Demona: The sun... it's glorious! I never thought that it could feel so good.
[She walks past a mirror in her house, and sees that Puck has transformed her into a human woman]
Demona: Nooooo!
[glass shatters]

Hakon: You said they wouldn't follow us!
Captain: If you hadn't destroyed the others!

Goliath: I don't want to hurt you!
Coldstone: You already have!

Goliath: Thank you for keeping me alive, Hudson. There's no one else I'd rather have at my side.
Hudson: [slight chuckle] I'd forgotten that for a time.
[slight scoff]
Hudson: I thought my warrior days were over.
Goliath: Nonsense! There are *years* of fighting left for you.
Hudson: Aye, now there's something to look forward to.
[Both laugh and fly off]

Owen: You may find yourself short of workers. The locals consider the castle haunted.
David: You know the answer to that, Owen. Pay a man enough... and he'll walk barefoot into Hell.

Brooklyn: Hudson?
Hudson: Aye, its my name. And what would you make of it?
Broadway: It's a fine name
Lexington: Hudson, I like it.
Brooklyn: We should choose names too. Names that suit our lives here.
Goliath: Oh? And what might they be
Brooklyn: [scratches head to think] Brooklyn. I'm Brooklyn.
Broadway: Broadway.
Lexington: Lexington, do you like it?
Goliath: [him and Hudson look at each other smiling] they're all fine names
[referring to their pet]
Goliath: I guess he'll need one as well.
Brooklyn: Oh, I've got one for him too. From now on, your Bronx
[he walks away growling]
Lexington: [laughs] I think he likes it

Princess: Captain, we are most seriously displeased to allow beasts in the Dining Hall!
Magus: You speak wisely, Princess. These are unnatural creatures. No good can come from associating with them.

Elisa: [to Goliath] Come on. I've wanted to stroll down a city street with you for a long time.

David: Incredible. If I'd have known the Eye of Odin had that kind of power, I never would have just given it away. Oh well, spilt milk. Let's move on to plan B.

Jeffery: The written word is all that stands between memory and oblivion. Without books as our anchors, we are cast adrift, neither teaching nor learning. They are windows on the past, mirrors on the present, and prisms reflecting all possible futures. Books are lighthouses erected in the dark sea of time.

Elisa: You have to quit! He's *using* you!
Derek: It's my life! Butt out!
Goliath: QUIET! Both of you! You don't know how lucky you are to have siblings to fight with! All of my rookery brothers are dead! And there is nothing - NOTHING more important than family.

[Robbins locates MacBeth by looking up his alias in a Braille phone directory]
Hudson: A magic book...
Jeffery: Aren't they all?

Elisa: [after Hudson leaves] Well looks like it's just you and me. So what do you want to see?
Goliath: The dangers that threaten me and my kind.
Elisa: Lighten up, will you. You're starting to bring me down and I'm a cop.

David: Revenge, as they say, is a sucker's game.

Broadway: Why stare at marks on a page when you can rent the video?

Elisa: Get back or you'll all be street pizza.

Hudson: Give it up, girl. You can't win.
Demona: I'm smarter, stronger, and I'm younger than you! Your pride will cost you your *life*!
Hudson: But I know something you don't. Something that only comes with age. I know how to wait.
[the sun rises and they turn to stone]

Goliath: [holding Xanatos over the edge of the building] She wanted me to destroy humanity, I think I'll start with you!
David: Go ahead. Without me, you'd still be gathering moss.
Elisa: NO, GOLIATH! Don't do this.
Goliath: Give me one good reason not to drop him.
Goliath: Because if you do, you're the same as Demona.
Hudson: She's right, lad. Is that what you want?
Goliath: ...No.

Goliath: [of Demona] Do you think she survived?
Hudson: If she did, we'll know soon enough, I imagine.

Elisa: [to Goliath] Don't listen to him. It's a trick! He couldn't tell the truth if his life depended on it!
David: But my life doesn't depend on this. It's Fox's life we're talking about.

Demona: Goliath, destroy him! I hold the book, you *must* obey me!
Brooklyn: You hold the book, Demona. But *I* hold the spell! Goliath take her!

Lexington: Hey, looks like we beat them here.
[They get blasted by a laser]
Brooklyn: Remind me to be fashionably late next time.

Goliath: I have no more love for Fox than for you. Even if what you say is true, why should I help her?
David: Because you know what it means to lose some you love.
Elisa: Don't even *think* about it, Goliath! Can't you see this *is* his plan D? If it fails he'll move on to E or F.
Goliath: A noble effort, Xanatos. But another failure. Not a good night for you.

Dr. Anton Sevarius: I was particularly proud of my death scene.
David: Frankly, Sevarius, I thought you overplayed the part.

Coldstone: What am I?
Demona: You are cold stone brought to life.
Coldstone: Coldstone?

Dracon's: [as Dracon gets out of the copter] Boss! Wait- What about-?
[Bluestone hits him]
Matt: That's for my apartment!

Goliath: [Demona is about to drop a guard out of the airship] What are you doing?
Demona: What does it look like? I'm making sure they don't cause us more trouble later.
Goliath: No! To kill in the heat of battle is one thing, but not like this!
Demona: The centuries have made you weak, Goliath.

Broadway: You made one mistake, Dracon. You messed with my partner!
Tony: Not you guys again!
Broadway: When someone messes with your partner. You're supposed to do something about it. Case closed!

Tom: I'm Tom, what's your name?
Lexington: Except for Goliath, we don't have names.
Tom: How do you tell each other apart?
Lexington: We look different.
Tom: But what do you call each other?
Brooklyn: Friend.
Tom's: Tom, get away from those monsters.
Tom: But mother..
Brooklyn: We wouldn't hurt the lad, ma'am.
Tom's: Keep away from him, you beasts.
[throws a wooden club at Brooklyn's shoulder]
Demona: [angrily points finger at Tom's mother; her eyes glow red] Your the beasts you...
[Brooklyn interrupts her, already mad and upset that him and his rookery brother were being unfairly harrased]
Brooklyn: No, if they think we're beasts and monsters...
Lexington: Then perhaps we better live up to the name.
[their eyes glow white so they can defend themselves]
Broadway: [alarmed] What is it? Are we being attacked again?
[Goliath and Hudson arrive]
Goliath: [angrily to Brooklyn, Broadway, and Lexington] you three down to the rookery until I return I'll deal with you then
[they gasp; pointing to Bronx]
Goliath: and take him with you
[Bronx sadly growls]
Brooklyn: [going into the rookery; to Goliath] We meant no harm.

Demona: You don't know the depths to which humanity can sink, my young friend. But I do. Over the centuries I've seen horrors that would blast your soul! Come let me show you what mankind is really like.

David: IT'S ALIVE, ALIVE! I've always wanted to say that.

Goliath: It ends now, Puck. Change everyone back to the way they were before Demona summoned you. Do it, and you win your freedom.
Puck: It will be my pleasure. But afterwards. I'm going to need a very *long* nap. First the humans I'll attend.
[the city turns back to normal, then Elisa turns back to normal]
Puck: Then the gargoyles will I mend. If his efforts you commend, free Puck, let him homeward wend.
Goliath: [breaks Puck's chain] You're free.

Goliath: You would betray *my* trust, brother?
Coldstone: You were a fool to extend it.
Goliath: Then you leave us no choice!

Elisa: Third race?
Broadway: You know. Gargoyles, humans, and Oberon's children.
Lexington: I thought everyone knew this.
Brooklyn: Yeah. That guy Shakespeare wrote a play about them. "A Midsummer Night's Dream".

Brooklyn: [exiting the elevator shaft with Broadway and Lexington to find themselves facing armed guards] Sorry, wrong floor.

Matt: We're right on top of it. Now we'll see what this creature looks like up close.
Elisa: Looks like a rat to me.
Matt: *What?*

Hudson: [Watching the sun rise] Yes! But I know about something that you don't. Something that only comes with age.
Demona: Yeah? What's that?
Hudson: Patience.
[Hudson, Demona, and Goliath all turn into stone]

Goliath: I have a request.
Princess: You have but to name it.
Goliath: The eggs in the rookery will soon hatch. They will need guidance.
Princess: Never fear. We will care for them as if they were our own.
Goliath: There is something you can do for me, Magus. Cast your spell one more time.

Owen: [as they're about to take the Grimorum] I'm afraid I can't allow this. This book is the property of Mr. Xanatos.
Hudson: And who's going to stop us? You?
Owen: [Removes his glasses] Indeed.
[Tosses Hudson]
Owen: You're trespassing!

Elisa: Same time tomorrow night?
Goliath: I wouldn't miss it.
Elisa: Good, maybe we'll catch a Giants game.
Goliath: Giants?
[turns to stone]
Elisa: Hmm. I wonder if this city's ready for you guys.

Hyena: You know I remember reading something in the Daily Tattler.
[Chuckles]
Hyena: People saying they've seen gargoyles coming to life.
Jackal: Right and alligators live in the sewers.
Wolf: What's the point of it?
Hyena: [Chuckling] Hey you said you were looking for action.
Fox: Imagine hunting something like this.
[Showing Wolf pictures of Goliath]
Fox: We'll figure it out later. Right now we have a personal appearance to make.

Elisa: Tony, Tony. Don't get mad, not when you can still get even. I know where Malone stashes your family jewels.
Tony: Maza, don't play with me.
Elisa: It's not a game, it's a negotiation. You want those stones, you have to let Detective Bluestone and me go free.
Tony: Okay, Maza we have a deal. My word as a Dracon.

Elisa: [Grabs on to Xanatos as he's about to fly] I trust you as far as I can throw you.
David: I don't have time to argue.
[takes off]

Demona: [fighting Hudson] I would have ended this quickly! But now you'll *suffer*!

Goliath: What is it Elisa?
Elisa: Bad news I'm afraid. The pack escape from Ryker's Island.
Lexington: WHAT?
Brooklyn: Nice wake up call.

Elisa: Fox, I'm here to find out...
Fox: l know why you're here. David told me you'd come. He created the Pack, you know. Got us together - me, Wolf, Hyena, Jackal, Dingo - put us on the air and made us stars.
Elisa: Then, why are Jackal and Hyena trying to kill him?
Fox: They don't know he's the boss. Only l do. David told me to have them hit the diamond exchange, and then make himself the next target. He set up his own assassination attempt.
Elisa: But why?
Fox: He wants your brother. And what David Xanatos wants, he gets.
Elisa: So why are you telling me all of this?
[chuckles]
Elisa: Because he left you to rot in jail?
Fox: You haven't got a clue. You're so far behind him, it's pathetic. He told me to tell you. He doesn't have to hide his plans from you. There's not a thing you can do to stop him. He's the most brilliant man on the face of the Earth.

Goliath: What are you doing here? Why aren't you guarding our home?
Elisa: You don't live there any more.
Goliath: [getting angry] WHAT?
Elisa: I found you a new home.
Goliath: HOW DARE YOU! I told you that castle IS OUR HOME!
Broadway: NO, Goliath! She's right! It's *suicide* to stay there.
Hudson: Lad, they're right, you know. It's just a place of stone and wood. Home is more than that Goliath. Home is the six of us. Wherever we can be together and safe. *That's* our home

Lexington: I was so totally wrong!
Goliath: No, Lexington! You were right. We can't hide from the world, we must live in it. We must search for allies, kindred spirits, and sometimes, we must take chances like we did tonight. To do so otherwise is to remain forever alone.
Lexington: It's nice to know there are still some heroes left.

Goliath: I have promised to meet a friend. I'll be back soon.
Demona: A friend? Who? Not one of us.
Goliath: No. A human. Elisa Maza.
Demona: Aside from Xanatos, we have no human friends, nor should we. Humanity is our enemy, Goliath. I thought you learned that a millennium ago.
Goliath: I cannot make war upon an entire world. Doesn't Xanatos prove that there are good humans as well as bad?
Demona: Can you forgive the humans for what they did to our kind?
Goliath: The ones responsible for that have been dead for a thousand years.
Demona: Then their descendants shall pay! I will have blood for blood!
Goliath: You said the centuries have changed me. They've changed you, too. You've become hard, unforgiving. You're not as I remember you. I'm going to see my friend now.
Demona: So be it.

Brooklyn: But not all humans are like that. Elisa is our friend.
Demona: Perhaps the policewoman is the exception that proves the rule. But can she keep you safe from the rest of humanity? Only we can protect each other, Brooklyn. We must be united and strong. And willing to deal with the humans as they would deal with us! Goliath thinks we can hide amidst the humans and hope for their understanding. This is not possible.

Hudson: [as he's surrounded by 3 members of the Pack] Go on then. We're none of us getting any younger.

David: Start hiring crews. I want to begin as soon as possible.
Owen: It may prove difficult to find the necessary manpower. This castle has a bad reputation. The locals consider it haunted.
David: You know the answer to that, Owen. Pay a man enough and he'll walk barefoot into Hell.

David: Soon everyone in New York will be hunting gargoyles.
Goliath: Because of you!
David: If you're going to be picky, we won't get anywhere.

Elisa: Sooner or later you're gonna slip up Tony, and when you do, I'll be there.
Tony: Hey, I told you... I'm not the guy. And if I *was* the guy, you couldn't do anything about it. In fact, if I were to tell one of my associates here to sell off some... merchandise to raise some operating capital, you couldn't do anything about that either. Face it, sugar... you got nothing.

Goliath: Xanatos tried to force us to reveal our new home. We defeated him. And if we did it once, we can do it again!
Elisa: And we will. Together.

Goliath: It's hopeless, Hudson. Save yourself.
Hudson: Hear me, lad. We go together, or we don't go at all.

Brooklyn: If they think we're beasts and monsters...
Lexington: Then perhaps we better live up to the name.

Hudson: Don't worry, lads, he'll be back. We didn't survive a thousand years' sleep to lose him now.

Owen: Actually Mr. Xanatos, I believe he's right. You've never looked more heroic.
David: A momentary lapse, I assure you.

Goliath: They were leading the horses to decoy us from the castle!
[turns and runs back towards the castle]
Hudson: We're too late!
[the sun rises and they both turn to stone]

Lexington: I can't see how we're doing any good here. We should be looking for Hyena and Jackal!
Broadway: Oh give it a rest! It's more important now to help Elisa.
Brooklyn: You wouldn't know what's important if it bit you on the...
Brooklyn: Knock it off you two! Look!
[They see a copter taking off from the castle]

Goliath: It is the nature of humans to fear what they do not understand. Their ways are not our ways.

Dominic: You have indomitable spirit, Detective Maza. I always admire that in my opponents.
Elisa: Hello, Dominic. I was wondering when you'd show again.
Dominic: I'm impressed. How long have you known?
Elisa: Ever since your grandson's men set a trap to bury me. You were the only one who knew I was going there.
Dominic: My humble apologies. It's just that I've been waiting so long to get these jewels. I tore Mace's nightclub down to find 'em. It was Tony's idea to look under the foundation, for all the good that did. But let's make a fresh start. Hand over the satchel, and no harm will come to you.
Elisa: Your word as a Dracon? I don't think so.
[tosses the satchel]
Dominic: No!

Goliath: Where are you going?
Brooklyn: To find her! She needs my help.
Broadway: Yeah, right.
Brooklyn: You don't know anything about her!
Goliath: And neither do you! Rushing off without a plan won't help her.
[Brooklyn turns and prepares to fly off]
Goliath: And I have a plan.
[Brooklyn turns around]

Brooklyn: [they're about to open an elevator door] Looks like this is it.
Broadway: This is easy. We'll have that disc and be home in time for supper...
[They open the door and there are weapons pointing at them]
Broadway: A late supper.

Goliath: [after they've been attacked by the pack] I think they planned to do so from the moment they first met you.
Lexington: But *why*? We're not their enemies! They're no more than animals!
Goliath: Worse than that. An animal hunts because it's hungry. These hunters do it for sport.
Lexington: I'm never trusting anyone again!

Goliath: [Angrily] You let them see you?
Lexington: Yeah. Yes I did. And why not? You made friends with Elisa.
Goliath: That was different!

Hyena: [while tormenting cockroaches] Why do you read that stuff?
Fox: Because Nietzche's too butch and Kafka reminds me of your little friends over there.

Goliath: With you alive, I can start to live again as well.
Demona: As you said, you and I are one now and forever.

Matt: Don't tell me "robots." What I saw through those binoculars was no robot. It - it was flesh and blood - something.
Captain: Look it was dark. They were a long way off.
Matt: You believe whatever you want. But I know what I saw. And I'm going to find out what it was!

Brooklyn: Thanks for saving my bacon before it got fried.

Hakon: Not that I'm ungrateful for your help, but why? Why betray your own kind?
Captain of the Guard: They're *not* my kind!

Demona: Are you blind? They were not at fault. The humans were!
Goliath: No matter who was at fault. I cannot condone fighting between their people and ours. I will make it up to them... later. I have business to attend to.

Demona: [as she's fighting Goliath who's still under a spell] Even with no will of your own, you're a force to be reckoned with.

Elisa: I have to tell you, Mr. Burnett. I'm still surprised at being asked back seeing as how I busted your boss.
Owen: Mr. Xanatos is not the sort to harbor a grudge, Detective Maza. And he wouldn't dream of denying you the opportunity to see your friends.

Elisa: [to Goliath] I think your head stays rock hard even at night.

Elisa: Now calmly. Who *are* you?
Talon: [slight chuckle] Call me "Talon."
Elisa: Okay, "Talon." Why are you stomping on my friend here?
Talon: Your "friend" made me like this.
Elisa: Impossible. Goliath would never intentionally harm anyone. Look, I want to help you.
Talon: Promise?
Elisa: Cross my heart...
Talon: And hope to...
Elisa: DEREK? Derek, is that you?

Coldstone: My memories are clouded. Why should I trust you?
Desdemona: If you can't trust me, then trust your heart.

Viking: Attacking a castle full of gargoyles near nightfall, this is crazy! And Hakon knows it!
Hakon: [grabs the warrior] No, my friend, that's not crazy. Questioning my sanity when I'm in earshot, THAT'S crazy!
[to his men]
Hakon: I say those gargoyles are naught but chiseled stone! And even if they aren't it's worth the risk for the plunder within! ATTACK!

Broadway: We could tackle them again.
Brooklyn: [sarcastically] Yeah, I'm really looking forward to that.
[seriously]
Brooklyn: They're a lot tougher than the last batch we fought.

Elisa: Oh, Derek. I've been wrong about a lot this week. You don't have to be a cop, and you do have to lead your own life.
[pulls out tape recorder and hands it to Derek]
Elisa: But l wasn't wrong about Xanatos, and l wouldn't be a good sister if l didn't give you this. Listen to it or not. It's your decision. It's your life.

Goliath: I see no walls to guard this city. How do you protect it from invaders?
Elisa: Well our biggest worries aren't from outside, they're from inside.
Goliath: *That* I'm all *too* familiar with.

Brooklyn: Who is this Macbeth, anyway?
Lexington: The name sounds familiar. Wait. I remember. Goliath was talking about a play called "Macbeth", by some new writer named Shakespeare.

[after Goliath has destroyed a cache of Xanatos's weapons]
Owen: Mr. Xanatos isn't going to like this...
Goliath: I'll be happy to discuss the matter with him.

Jackal: [after Brooklyn attacks Hyena] That's no way to treat a lady!
Brooklyn: That was no lady.

Goliath: It will come to you in time, brother. The important thing is, you're alive. Come. You will rejoin your clan in our new home.
Coldstone: I would like that very much.

Goliath: You could've been hurt. I should've been with you.
Elisa: But you can't. Any more that I can be here guarding you all day long. Everyone's vulnerable, Goliath. But it helps knowing someone cares.

Hudson: I thought they were the good guys. Maybe we shouldn't believe everything we see on television.

Hudson: A gargoyle can no more stop protecting the castle than breathing the air.

Broadway: These are great, you should try some.
Brooklyn: Would have, if you hadn't eaten the whole cartful.

Lexington: [watching Broadway eat some slime in the rookery] I hope we're not down here long. He might eat us.

Matt: He blew up my apartment?
[scoffs]
Matt: Elisa you know as soon as you show him the jewels our lives aren't worth beans.
Elisa: Don't worry, I called for back up. I hope.

Iago: Why do you fight me, my love? We are destined to be together for all eternity.
Desdemona: I will choose who I love!

Coldstone: You said that destroying my brother is the only way to survive. Is that all there is for us, mere survival?
Demona: Isn't that enough?
Goliath: No. Gargoyles protect. It is our nature. Our purpose. To lose that is to be corrupt. Empty. Lifeless.

Demona: Don't be afraid. I just want to talk.
Brooklyn: Yeah. Last time we met you just wanted to blow me away with a bazooka.
Demona: That was then.
Brooklyn: This is goodbye.
[Prepares to glide off]
Demona: Wait, please! I'm sorry Brooklyn. I know I shouldn't have shot at you. I was crazy with grief and rage. If you only knew what I've gone through for hundreds of years dealing with the humans.
Brooklyn: Hundreds of years. I thought you were under the sleep spell like we were.
Demona: It's a long story. Centuries long. I'd like to tell you about it. If you'll let me.
Brooklyn: I don't trust you, Demona.

David: Never a gargoyle around when you need one.

Lexington: Are you sure this is a good idea? He hasn't always been your friend. To invite him to our home, our clan...
Goliath: Without trust, there can be no clan.

Broadway: [Enraged] What's this? A new kind of gun? A new way to kill people?
[Crushes it with one flex of his hand]

David: I know you were used poorly by men in the past, but all that's about to change. Trust me.
Goliath: You broke the spell of sleep that imprisoned us, Xanatos. And for that we are grateful. But we will never trust humans again.
David: I can tell this relationship is something we all have to work at.

Shop: Aw, not again! Can't you rob someone else this time?
Robber: I'm not robbing you, man... do me a favor. Call the cops so I can turn myself in!
Shop: *What*? Why?
Robber: 'Cause six monsters just told me to!

Hudson: These weapons. We must be battling sorcerers!
Goliath: Even so, we must protect the castle. It's all we have left!

Hudson: Must you humans name everything? Nothing's real to you 'til you've named it, given it limits.
Elisa: It's not like that. It's just that, well... uh... things need names.
Hudson: Does the sky need a name? Does the river?
Elisa: The river's called the Hudson.
Hudson: Fine, lass. Then I will be the Hudson as well.

Demona: We have each created our own clans now, Goliath. You have yours. And I have mine.
Goliath: You have no clan. You don't know the *meaning* of the word!

Elisa: [after taking care of the last attacker, of the now-stone Goliath] Lot to go through for a piece of lawn sculpture.

Broadway: I wish I had time for a snack.
Lexington: You just ate.
Broadway: I know, Chinese food. It was good, too. But for some reason, an hour later I was hungry again.

Goliath: I've been denied everything... EVEN MY REVENGE!

Lexington: This isn't a good idea. I'm best qualified to go.
Goliath: Which is exactly why I need you watching the equipment... In case something goes wrong.

David: I"m afraid the gargoyles have outlived their usefulness. I can't count on their loyalty. But now with the data on those disks, I can bring their replacements on-line.

Goliath: Were any more down in the rookery?
Broadway: ...Only us.
Hudson: All the humans are gone. Taken prisoner, most likely.
Goliath: Then we will find them. We will save them. And we will have our *revenge*!

Elisa: No offense, I'm sure you're a great cop. But I don't need a partner. And I don't *want* a partner.
Matt: Hey, I understand. Problem is you have a partner. Me. Guess we just have to make the best of it.
Elisa: [exhales] There must be some kind of conspiracy going on to make my life difficult.
Matt: Wouldn't surprise me.

Goliath: It's a trap!

Owen: Everything was done as you stipulated, sir. The Cable TV was adjusted so that the only program the gargoyles could see was the Pack's. The Pack received a mysterious envelope of photographs, and reacted just as you predicted. A pity nothing else happened according to plan.
David: Oh I wouldn't say that Owen. Though they didn't know it was me, I created the Pack to be far more than a TV show. I had to see how good they were. And having underestimated Goliath once before, I had to see what he was capable of as well. All-in-all, I'd say the test was most informative.

David: Marry me.
Fox: Are you serious?
David: We're genetically compatible, highly intelligent, and have the same goals.

Elisa: You're going to help him, aren't you?
Goliath: Yes.
David: [Xanatos enters the alley] Good.
Elisa: How did you find us?
David: [Walks up to Goliath and removes a bug he planted on Goliath] Old habits die hard... She's not far from here.

Dominic: [reading a note] "I feel sorry for you, DD. You still haven't learned that crime doesn't pay. Your old partner Mace."

Demona: [angrily] I don't know who the bigger fool is? Him for leading, you for following, or me for not leaving you both.

Elisa: You can't believe anything he says.
Goliath: I know, but that creature is still a danger to my castle, my city. And if Xanatos speaks the truth, if someone like him can love, perhaps there is some hope for this world.

Goliath: [saves Hudson from behind] Watch your back old friend
Hudson: [chuckles] Watch your own.

Lexington: Hey! What happened to the motorcycle?
Brooklyn: Um... it... blew up.
Lexington: Oh. WHAT?

Demona: [after shooting Elisa] You've just been poisoned. In twenty-four hours, you'll be dead. I have the antidote. Tell Goliath I'll be at the Old Opera House in the Village. Ciao.
[Flies off]

Glasses: [to his men] You'll rest when I tell you to rest!
Broadway: [from distance] I know that guy from somewhere.
Elisa: He's called "Glasses." He's Dracon's right hand man.
Broadway: Dracon! I *hate* that guy!
Elisa: He's not one my favorites either.

Demona: I would know you no matter what your form, Goliath! Take care of them, Puck.
Puck: As you wish... Humans love a battle hearty/So does Puck, come on, let's party!

Owen: [as the sun's about to rise] I'm afraid I have some bad news for you.
Goliath: What is it? Speak quickly!
Owen: Your friend, Elisa Maza, has been shot. They're not sure if she'll live.
[Goliath gasps, the sun rises and he turns to stone]

Hyena: I like a man who brings me weapons.

Puck: Is this how you welcome all your guests?
Demona: Any who would turn on me. And you're not a guest. You serve the human, now you can serve me.
Puck: Serving humans is fun, they have a sense of humor. You have none.
Demona: Perhaps not, Puck, but I have you.

Brooklyn: What's Demona's game this time?
Goliath: I don't know. But we're going to find out.
Elisa: But I'm okay. You don't have to go! You know it's a trap!
Hudson: If he doesn't go now, Demona will know her plan failed. She'll come after you again.

Demona: [mulling over her wish] I'm too vulnerable during the day. I don't want to turn to stone anymore.
Puck: Of course! You want to stroll down Fifth Avenue in the sunshine. I'm sure you'll fit right in.

Elisa: What are you reading?
Goliath: Dostoevsky.
Elisa: Who's it by?
[slight giggle]
Elisa: Kidding.

Goliath: [to Demona] There is good and evil in all of us, human and gargoyle alike. *You* should know that more than anyone. Don't you see, none of this would have happened if it weren't for you.

Captain of the Guard: Their leader swore they'd be back. It's best to harry them far away and not take that chance!
Goliath: ...Very well. But *I* shall do it! I can scare those *cowards* away without any help.
Demona: That's too dangerous for you! Let me come along at least!
Goliath: You and the others will stay with the castle. You are my best warrior. I leave you in command.
Demona: No! I cannot let you!
Goliath: I won't go alone. Remember you and I are one, now and forever.

Glasses: You know what? I think this dame's going to deliver.
Matt: She hasn't let me down yet.

Goliath: I have a message for you master. We're leaving. But we'll be back... We'll be back to reclaim that which is *ours*!
Owen: I will deliver the message.
