James: But you're an American.
David: So was my father, Jason Redding. Jason Redding, nuclear physicist- tried, convicted, executed, for passing America's precious secrets on to the enemy.
Cinnamon: And, like father like son.

So much so that when he was accused, he answered every question put to him honestly. He was even naive enough to admit that he had many friends, men he had known all his life, who were communists. That made him a spy.

Six months ago, Ramon Prado, one of the largest narcotics dealers in Latin America, bribed a courier for the Pan-American Narcotics Agency into giving him half of a microfilm containing the names of 16 agency undercover men. Prado's half is useless by itself. But two weeks ago, his bitter underworld enemy, Arturo Sandoval, contacted Prado and announced he has the other half. The two have been attempting to arrange a truce and thereby combine both halves of the microfilm. Your mission, Jim, should you choose to accept it, is to gain possession of the microfilm before Prado and Sandoval can work out the terms of their truce, one which would mean certain death to the 16 PANA Undercover agents whose names are listed on the film. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

He heads the political faction which wants to heat up the Cold War. Opposed to him are those who favor co-existence led by Anton Kudnov, a Deputy Premier. Varsh now plans to stir up feeling against the United States by arresting and charging some innocent American with a serious crime, and then staging a propaganda show trial for the world. He plans to use this to gain absolute power for himself. Should Varsh succeed, not only will the victim lose his freedom, and possibly his life, but the international peace will be threatened. Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to stop Varsh and to so discredit him, that he will never again be a political threat. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This recording will decompose in five seconds. Good luck, Dan.

James: I'm happy to meet you, Mr. Malstrom. I assume you have some idea of our purpose.
Gunnar: All I know is that you deal in wars and that you call yourself "Chief."
James: "Chief." Does a code name bother you? Because you may call me Mr. Smith, Mr. Jones, or Mr. Waslowski. I don't deal in labels. I deal in reality. The threefold nature of power -- Men, Money, Time. But the first necessity is the right man.
Gunnar: And what am I right for?
James: Our acquisition of Pendulum, your accession to real power.
Gunnar: That's funny. I think of myself as already powerful.
James: Really? Yes, perhaps, in a way. Our organization Is currently engaged In achieving Industrial control of the United States.
Gunnar: Just like that?
James: We already control the gold through our European and Asian groups. We've placed politicians, bought unions, managed control of several financial combines, and now we face trouble. Why? Because Pendulum is creating such a disturbance the government is investigating every possible threat, including us. Yes, you have power, Mr. Malstrom -- The power to cause difficulty.
Gunnar: We have our own plans.
James: Yes. Stupid. This latest thing -- Nightfall, Military Assassination, General Weston -- Absolute madness.
Gunnar: Only our counsel knows about that.
James: Don't be naive. We know a great deal.
Gunnar: Our leader insists on strict security.
James: Your leader? Ah, yes, your leader. How would you describe him?
Gunnar: Arrogant, egotistical.
James: And incompetent. Let me be explicit, Mr. Malstrom. We want Pendulum. We do not want your leader. We want you to take over control of our total operation in this hemisphere.
Gunnar: Why should I? I overheard your threats to kill me, but if you do, Pendulum will know about it.
James: We never kill except for profit. We want you to control Pendulum for us.
Gunnar: The leader? We will eliminate him for a price. You will join us. You will call off Nightfall. No. I can't call off Nightfall. It's too far along. Anyway, i don't buy all of this. At least, Not without more proof. If I even tried To cross Pendulum, I'd be a dead man. How do i know You'd protect me? Very well. You may have time to think the matter over, but not very much. By tomorrow morning, You will be with us, Or you will be dead.
James: We will eliminate him for a price. You will join us. You will call off Nightfall.
Gunnar: No. I can't call off Nightfall. It's too far along. Anyway, i don't buy all of this. At least, Not without more proof. If I even tried To cross Pendulum, I'd be a dead man. How do i know You'd protect me?
James: Very well. You may have time to think the matter over, but not very much. By tomorrow morning, You will be with us, Or you will be dead.

Paris: Commandante, once you were a true revolutionary, but your very success destroyed you. It made you sick with pride and arrogance. I shall report to the SMV we have no further use for you. Martillo is in charge.

James: I'm getting off this ship at the next port. At night, you can hear that murdered man wailing.
Frank: Stow that talk!
James: No, it's true. She's haunted. There is a ghost aboard the ship.
Frank: Captain, you spread that kind of talk around this dock, there's gonna be two ghosts aboard.

[Jim and Willy have only a few minutes to solve the code, which appears as an enormous block of five-lettered groupings]
James: The photograph.
Willy: What?
James: Well, there has to be a key to the grouping variations somewhere. We know that it's not in that message itself, but it could be on the photograph that the code was transmitted on. Run the tape back.

Vincent: [having just watched a film] So?
Larry: It puts you there, Mr. Vochek, at the time Morrie Krohner was shot.
Vincent: Who says it was that day?
Larry: The, uh, papers on that newsstand, and you see, this here blowup gives the date and the late editions go on sale between 11:00 and 11:30.
Vincent: Why were you tailing me?
Larry: Not you, Mr. Vochek, the other man. He had a girlfriend in that apartment. His wife wanted proof. I got the proof and you along with it. Now, you understand that this is a duplicate print. Anything happens to me, the D.A. gets the negative. Take my word for it.

Eddie: Oh, get down, baby!
[phone rings]
Eddie: Turn that down, will you?

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. The pictures are of Vincent Vochek, head of a powerful West Coast syndicate family, and Larry Edison, a former private detective who has been sentenced to prison. Vochek is suspected of murdering one Maurice Krohner, a police informer, six months ago. It is known that Edison holds a roll of film linking Vochek to Krohner's death, using it to blackmail Vochek. Conventional law enforcement agencies have been unable to locate this film and are helpless to proceed against the gang leader without it. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to learn where Edison's film is hidden and turn it over to the proper authorities. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Frank: Why didn't you sail?
James: No crew. When I got back last night, they were all gone. Vanished.
Frank: Why?
James: You spend one night aboard this ship, Mr. Delaney, and then ask me that question.

[last lines]
James: So, your father's agreed to turn state's evidence, Susan. He's already told the Attorney General enough to rip open the whole Syndicate infiltration of the fight business.
Susan: But he'll still have to go to prison?
Barney: Yes. He'll have to serve some time.
Lisa: But I think it'll make it a lot easier on him, Susan, if he could see you.
Willy: We've arranged for you to meet with him, if you want to.
Susan: Of course... and I'll wait.
Pete: No. We'll wait.

Person: [voice on tape] Good afternoon, Mr. Phelps. This is Professor William Bennett, the Nobel Prize winning archaeologist who is becoming the innocent pawn in a political coup being staged by this man, Stephan Gomalk. The Chief of the Security Police, Gomalk, plans to overthrow the pro-Western government of his closest friend, Beyron Rurich. The plan to assassinate Rurich has been code-named Anniversary. Professor Bennett has a chronically weak heart. When he was arrested by mistake and intensively interrogated by Gomalk, Bennett's heart failed. He is now in a hospital maximum security ward. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to get Bennett out alive and prevent Rurich's assassination by Gomalk. As always, should you or any of your IM Force are caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This recording will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Williams: [after Rollin has worked his sleight-of-hand to beat Petrosian in a poker game] All he had was a full house! I'm sure!

Igor: No.

Peter: Of course, you don't have to testify to the Legislature. You could catch a ride into town with Cameron.
Orin: Do you know, Peter, suddenly, I feel terribly public-spirited? I was just thinking "What an outrage that the Syndicate has moved into gambling in this state." We really ought to do something about that. Shall we?

Rollin: Guns will not protect you, Mr. Taggart. You are dealing with things beyond your understanding. Powers beyond human comprehension.
J. Richard Taggart: The only powers I believe in are Taggart Aircraft, the American dollar, and myself.

Alvin: You tell Mister Mallet, that if he keeps bothering me and my people, he may not be alive in early November

Paul: Penny-ante? Do you know what our gross was last year?
Leo: That's last year. What about this year? What about five years from now? Times are changing. Can't you see that, Paul? We're being forced out of narcotics. We've got to find something else!
Paul: This is what I put you through college for? There's book-learning and there's real life. Now, Leo, look around you and get some experience before you kill off a successful business.

Person: Good morning, Mr. Phelps. The man you are looking at is Alex Cresnic, one of the world's largest dealers in heroin. Recently, Cresnic made his biggest deal. He bought the entire heroin crop of an Asiatic country and smuggled it into Marseilles, where he plans to wholesale it to his major buyers. In order to get enough financing for such a big operation, Cresnic took in a partner. His name is Mark Walters, head of the Numbers Bank in Miami. The mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to prevent Cresnic and Walters from selling their heroin and put them out of business permanently. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This recording will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Briggs. The man you are looking at is Alex Lowell, a promoter of several large investment trusts. A few weeks ago, Lowell's trusts gained control of a majority of the shares in Sud-Aero, a foreign company which manufactures some of NATO's secret defense hardware. Lowell immediately transferred the stock into his own name, and with it, left for South America, out of our reach. We believe he intends to put Sud-Aero's secret patents up for sale to the highest bidder. Jan Vornitz, an agent for an unfriendly country, is the most interested and most likely customer. Your mission, Dan, should you decide to accept it, is to stop Lowell before he has a chance to sell the patents, and make sure he does not remain in control of the company. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. The man you are looking at is Miguel De Varo, the liberal President of Costa Mateo. Recently, De Varo announced a $40 million industrialization program for his country. This program is to be financed solely from funds in the presidential vault. However, this man, Phillipe Pereda, Costa Mateo's Finance Minister, secretly removed the money and deposited it in a Swiss bank. Since it is reputed that the presidential vault can only be opened by De Varo, it is Pereda's plan to frame the President for embezzlement and take over the country. De Varo considers Pereda to be his closest friend and would not believe that his Minister of Finance was planning such a move. You mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, would be to stop Pereda. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. Good luck, Jim.

Ed: I wouldn't know.
Van: Suppose you go to work finding out, huh?
Ed: Okay.
Van: Ralph?
Ralph: Right here, Van. How can i help you?
Van: I want you to check on a couple of names for me. Two Government geologists -- An Isaac Younger and Michael Dalby. I want to know who they are, why they were sent here ?, what they're looking for?
Ralph: Simple enough.
Van: Now, look, I don't want just a surface check through routine channels. Use your connections. Dig in deep, huh? They may have a cover story. I'd like to know exactly Why they were sent here. And if you find out anything offbeat about this survey, You let me know, huh?

Van: All right. Then get on it.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. This man, Dr. Oswald Beck, has succeeded in developing a mutation of the bacteria which causes cerebrospinal meningitis. Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. As you know, for the past twenty years, the United Nations has worked throughout the Near East to abolish slave markets. This effort has been successful, except in El Kabar, a small country on the Persian Gulf whose ruler, Ibn Borca, an absolute monarch, continues to auction thousands of human beings into slavery each year. Borca's principle source of slaves is this man, Karl de Groot. His raids into nearby nations to abduct free men and women into slavery could aggravate the tense situation in the Near East. Your mission, Jim, should you decided to accept it, is to stop this traffic in slaves and rid El Kabar of de Groot and Borca. As always, should any of your IM force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This recording will self-destruct in five second. Good luck, Jim.

Willy: Elton, the Chief's arriving at Headquarters this afternoon from London.

Willy: See you at headquarters.

Larry: You want to know something, Professor? After two hours, this iron palace-- it's already getting to me. After two hours. What kind of shape am I going to be in after two years?
James: Oh, if you keep looking at it that way, you'll end up stir-crazy.
Larry: How else am I supposed to look at it?
James: By not thinking of it in terms of years. You know, a smart con does his stretch one day at a time-- no yesterdays, no tomorrows, only today-- and then one day you put on a $30 suit, the warden gives you a short speech and a $20 bill, and you walk out a free man and only one day older than when you came in.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. The Azteca Museum was recently looted of over five million dollars worth of Pre-Columbian art by a brilliant thief, Van Cleve, and his partner, Matthew Royce, now missing, presumed dead. Kamirov is forcing Gemini to keep posing as Premier Zagov until a television address two days from now, when the double will announce his retirement because of failing health and name Kamirov as his successor. Kamirov then plans to kill Gemini, abandon his country's policy of strict neutrality and ally with the Iron Curtain bloc. Your mission, Jim, should you choose to accept it, is to stop Kamirov. Walter: Outrageous! Nothing short of outrageous! And I want to warn you, Giroux, I won't stand for it!
Paul: Are you threatening me, Mr. DuBruis?
Walter: You may take it any way you like. I couldn't care less. So long as you understand that I will not be treated this way by a government bookkeeper!
Paul: The Minister of Finance ordered the new deadline.
Walter: I don't care if the President himself ordered it! I was given six months on those loans. They are not due for another five weeks! That's when they will be paid!
Paul: However, the loans are now due in one week. In five weeks, you may find yourself in jail.
Walter: I think you know, Giraux, I am not without influence.
Paul: In this case, Mr. DuBruis, it may only get you a cell with a view.

Before the treasure could be delivered, it was hijacked by this man, Jack Cole. Cole's accomplices were all killed. He was captured and is being held at the provisional prison, where a Colonel Cardoza is trying to persuade him to reveal where the treasure is hidden. We know Cardoza to be a traitor, who intends to take the treasure for himself and flee, bankrupting the country. Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. The man you are looking at is David Redding, one of the top photographers in the country. He is also the contact for a spy apparatus that has secretly brought 150 agents into the United States over the past few months. Yesterday, one of the agents was picked up. We have not been able to get any information from him, except that they carry deadly pneumonic plague bacillus, which is to be released on our population within 72 hours. We have dozens of coded messages in and out of Redding's headquarters which we are certain locate and identify the agents. However, we have so far been unable to break Redding's code. Your mission, should you decided to accept it, is to get the key to the code so we can pick up those agents before it's too late. As always, if you or any of your IM Force should be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This recording will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Mr. Briggs, your mission, should to decide to accept it, would be to unfix the election so that the election will honestly reflect the vote of the people. The Secretary instructs you that no citizen of Valeria may be directly employed. And as always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, he will disavow any knowledge of your actions. Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. We recently learned that, in order to carry out the underworld's policy of enforcement, this man, Bert Gordon, has set up an organization similar to the old 'Murder, Incorporated.' Gordon will arrange for the disposal of anyone, anywhere, for a price. The victims always disappear with no evidence of foul play and the body is never recovered. Although we are sure Gordon is the man behind this murder ring, he has kept himself so far removed from the actual killings, we are unable to pin anything on him. Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to prove Gordon is, in fact, a killer, and put him away for good. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. Please destroy this recording in the usual manner. Good luck, Jim.

However, she escaped with Thomas, and Robert is presumed dead. Conventional law enforcement agencies have located Hannah and Thomas O'Connel on their way to the Caribbean island of Jamada, a nation with which we have no extradition treaty. Person: [voice on tape] Good afternoon, Mr. Phelps. Harry Kellem, an American businessman living in Japan and chairman of the new Economic Treaty Council, has been arrested for the murder of his wife. We have reason to believe that Kellem was framed and the murder actually committed by Mrs. Kellem's brother, Toshio Masaki, a powerful industrialist who is fanatically anti-American. In addition to a personal hatred for Kellem, Masaki's motive is to discredit the Economic Council and shatter Japanese-American relations on the eve of the new treaty negotiations. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to stop Masaki's plan and vindicate Harry Kellem. Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. The man you are looking at is General Ernesto Neyron. The former dictator of Suranaica who now lives in exile at his closely-guarded Miami estate. In order to finance a military coup which will return him to power, Neyron is about to conclude a deal with this man, Frank Layton, a top syndicate leader. In exchange for several million dollars, Neyron has agreed to legalize gambling in Suranaica and give all rights to the syndicate. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to stop Neyron and the syndicate. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Rollin: [to guard watching Cinnamon] Major Gruner wants her in the vault. Let's go.

Lisa: [Pretending to be the "error voice" on the telephone] Because of the national emergency, telephone service has been temporarily suspended.

Hawks: Hi.
Andrew: The silver-haired gentleman calls himself Fletcher. His friend calls himself Harding. Fletcher's our man.
Hawks: Right.

General: Your eminence, they would like to know if you can give them some idea of what you will tell the country tonight.
Stanislaus: Yes, gentlemen. I can give you a very definite idea of what I will tell the people this evening. I will tell them the kind of man General Zepke truly is... a monstrous liar, a traitor, and a murderer, and I will exhort heaven and earth to prevent his election.

[last lines]
Alma: Barney. How did you get...?
Barney: There's no time. I'm delivering you to the Staton Art Galleries in New York personally.
Alma: What about Corba?
Barney: Don't worry about Corba. We're sending enough evidence to the Governor to hang him. Let's go.

[first lines]
Ralph: Why are you smiling, sir?
Edward: Out of admiration. Not only do you accuse some of this state's leading judges, legislators, and law enforcement officers of being in the employ of the Syndicate, but you've got the proof to back it up.
Ralph: Once I got into it, Mr. Granger, it became self-evident that...
Edward: Don't deprecate yourself or your work. This is journalism in the finest sense of the word, but this is only the raw material. Where's the story?
Ralph: That's what I wanted to talk to you about first. There are so many ways of writing it...
Edward: There is only one way, and that is the truth. Granger Publications will back you up 100%. I hope you have copies of this material.
Ralph: Why, no, sir. Uh, the material is so sensitive, I was afraid of a leak.
Edward: Of course. As Soon as you get back to town, have copies made of that and have them put in my private vault.

[first lines]
Van: What are you doing?
Matthew: Look at it, Van.
Van: Mixtec work. Post-Classical period, probably 700 years old. And worth a quarter of a million, eh?
Matthew: Oh, no, more than that. It's beautiful.
Van: And you'd like to keep it.
Matthew: Yeah.
Van: One job, six months in the planning. One museum guard dead. Six different police bureaus after us... for looting a precious national treasure. The answer's no.

[first lines]
Person: [voice on tape] Good Morning, Mr. Briggs. You remember Doctor Martha Richards. Two years ago, while on vacation in Austria, she met and married Doctor Kurt Zubrovnik. She never returned to America, continuing her extremely important research work with her husband in Austria. About a year ago, Kurt Zubrovnik was burned to death in a laboratory fire in their home. Martha went on working after her husband's death, but recently stopped sending us the results of her experiments. We have reason to believe it is because this man, Sigmund Poljac, is pressuring her to work behind the Iron Curtain. If it were an ordinary pressure, we could fight it but Poljac is a medium and Martha Zubrovnik is being asked to defect by the ghost of her dead husband. Mr. Briggs, your mission, should you decide to accept it, would be to keep her from going behind the Iron Curtain and get her to working for us again. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow all knowledge of your actions. Please dispose of this recording in the usual manner.

Thomas: [Kroll tries to call his mother] Busy.
Bill: [as Frank Stevens] Your mother's always on the horn.
Thomas: Shut up about my mother.

Stu: You know I was in her apartment. You know I killed Judy. But - without your sworn statement there's no case is there?

[having just opened the safe without activating the bomb]
Barney: I've got it, Jim.

Santos: Johnson and Morales?

Santos: Your prison clothes. Morales?
Barney: Save them for yourself, amigo. I am breaking out in the morning.

Proprietor: Can I help you?
Daniel: Yes, I'm looking for an authentic Franklin Roosevelt.
Proprietor: I have several.
Daniel: I want just the initials FDR, in his own hand.
Proprietor: They are hard to get. I only have one. It's on the flyleaf of a book. Would that be acceptable?
Daniel: If it's in ink.
Proprietor: It is. You'll excuse me, I have some work to do in the back.

Admiral: And our most serious problem is the surveillance of Soviet submarines at Petropavlovsk.

Gen. Brenner: The building is safe, Mr. Shambi?
Barney: Yes, it is, General. The defective beam is in the basement. I will send a company of engineers to repair it. Right now, I must make a personal report to the Premier.
Paris: I will accompany you, Mr. Shambi.

[Vincente and Janos are discussing El Lider of San Cristobal, Paris's disguise]
Vincente: What are we going to do about El Lider, huh?
Janos: Perhaps... we should meet his demands.
Vincente: Absolutely not. There will be no invasion if I am not President of both countries!
Janos: All right. Eh... We could offer him a high ministerial position?
Vincente: No, no. I don't want him in the government at all.
Janos: We cannot afford to have him side with San Cristobal. I do not want to fight him, Vincente.
Vincente: [outraged] Are you suggesting that we give up the invasion?
Janos: No, no, no. No. No... Perhaps money.
Vincente: [laughs shortly] Money. He will not accept it. He's not that kind of man. Nah. He does not seek wealth. He wants power.
Janos: Perhaps he has changed.
Vincente: That kind of man never changes.
Janos: You changed. Every man has his price, Vincente. I will try to reason with him.
Vincente: But what if he doesn't listen to reason?
Janos: Then... we will kill him.

Gunther: What time is it?
First: 25 to 3:00. But what do you care for the next 30 years or so?

Leon: You're worried about your re-election. I'm worried about my neck!

Leo: Who brought him in?
Georgi: An itinerant laborer.
Leo: His name?
Georgi: Stross.
Leo: Bring him to me. I want to see him.
Georgi: Premier Vorka, it is so long ago. The man may be dead.
Leo: I didn't ask you to bring him back to life, did I? Go find him.

[first lines]
Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Briggs. Edward Hughes, an American intelligence officer, has defected to the enemy and taken refuge in their embassy here. Hughes took with him a top-secret message before we had a chance to decode it. We believe the information in that message to be vital. The sender of the message has died. Hughes himself does not know the code so Victor Belson, one of the enemy's best cryptographers, is on his way to the embassy now. Belson is unknown to the personnel there. The mission, Dan, should you decide to accept it, would be to get the message back before the enemy deciphers it and get Hughes out of the embassy in a way as to discredit any other information he may have given them. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This recording will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Dan.

Rollin: [while Jim is kneeling by Nicole's body] Jim... Jim, let's go.

Crystal: [to Dan] Aren't you ever going to call me for personal reasons?

Frank: Nobody tells Frank Wayne what to do... NOBODY!

Jack: [Frank tries to remove the flower from his lapel that Jack placed there] Leave it alone, Frank.

President: Do me a favor. Simply say... he died for what he believed in.

James: Do you have a 30-rpm tape recorder?

Rollin: In a pinch, Barney could order cold cuts in Swahili.

Paris: Jim, Miller and Dunson have been with Laszlo for several years. They've been in that apartment many times.
James: Yes, but they'll see only what they expect to see.

Anastas: Why, you're quite a miracle, aren't you? Quite a pair. How much are you gonna get for me, huh?
Daniel: For you? Two cents.

Scalisi: What about her? Huh?
Cinnamon: I told you it wouldn't work, Jack. I told you.
Jack: What are you talking about? Who are you?
Scalisi: Wait a minute. Are you telling me you don't know her?
Jack: I never saw her before in my life!
Scalisi: What did you mean before when you said 'it wouldn't work', huh? What did you mean?
Cinnamon: He'll kill me!
Scalisi: He won't hurt you. Not if you tell me.
Jack: Tell you what?
Scalisi: Shut up! Tell me. Where's the money? Now, come on, WHERE'S THE MONEY?
Scalisi: Ohhh.
[Moves Cinnamon aside and reveals the wall safe]
Scalisi: .
Scalisi: Ah you never was very smart, Jack. Not about money.
Cinnamon: I'm sorry, Jack. I didn't mean...
Jack: You dirty... What are you doing to me! WHO ARE YOU?
Cinnamon: Oh please. Please let me out of here. I don't want to get in any deeper. Please.
Scalisi: Keep your mouth shut. Go on.
Jack: No, no, don't let her out, Vito. It's a frame! Don't let her go.
Scalisi: Open it!
Jack: I can't. That's not my safe. I never saw it before.
Scalisi: Not your safe, in your own bed room? OPEN IT!
[Pulls out gun]
Jack: I can't!
Scalisi: [Holds gun to Wellman's face] You got ten seconds!

Daniel: Thank you very much.

Announcer: [on television] Ladies and gentlemen, you have been watching a television news special broadcast live via satellite from Washington, D.C. We now return to our regular programming.
Chief: [looking out an open window] The beach!

Professor: I assure you, young man, it gets rather boring just to stand about waiting for someone to come to try to assassinate you!

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. This is Howard Bainbridge, noted specialist in chemical warfare who defected to the East, where he developed the lethal chemical TR-A, a nerve gas formula known only to him. We believe that Bainbridge, contaminated by his own deadly chemical, escaped the Iron Curtain and returned to his father's estate where the elder Bainbridge killed his son and concealed the corpse. Since Howard Bainbridge destroyed all his records before fleeing the East, the only existing trace of the chemical TR-A is in his corpse. Your mission, Jim, should you choose to accept it, is to find Howard Bainbridge's body. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Eve: I didn't kill Johnny. You know I didn't.
James: Sorry, Eve, we know you did.
Eve: It was all a plant, wasn't it?

[first lines]
Person: [voice on tape] Good afternoon, Mr. Phelps. The man you are looking at is Anton Valdas, the enemy's highest ranking intelligence Minister. We have just been informed by a friendly nation that Valdas has in his possession a master list of all the allied agents who have defected to him. Knowing the identities of these double agents is of the utmost importance to our allies and to us. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to get that list. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Barney: What do you think they'll do to Brobin when they find out he's let it slip through his fingers?
Rollin: They'll probably keep him right there in that padded cell. Where I left him.

[first lines]
David: I'm not afraid to die. That isn't it. It's dying *this way*. I didn't kill that guy, Jim. You believe me?
James: Of course I believe you. I wouldn't be here if I didn't. We grew up together, David. If there's one thing I know, it's that you didn't kill a man in cold blood.
James: I've been praying. Maybe you're the answer.

[first lines]
Daniel: My name's Briggs. I left some negatives here for enlargements.
Proprietor: Let's see. Those were 11-by-14 mattes, weren't they?
Daniel: No. 8-by 10s.
Proprietor: Oh, yeah. Yeah, I remember. I just finished them. They're still drying.
Daniel: I'd like to take a look at them.
Proprietor: Help yourself.
Daniel: Thank you.

Cinnamon: The stockholders of Lowell's investment funds will be glad to get these back.
Byron: You don't think they'll mind that the game was fixed?
Willy: That's right. What if Lowell comes back to the United States and presses charges?
Barney: He could, you know. After serving 99 years or so for embezzlement.
Rollin: We'll worry about it then, okay?

[last lines]
Gregory: I wasn't going to kill you. I really wasn't going to kill you.
Dana: Who was going to do it? Brace?

Anton: I am trying to control myself, but I am operating under a most difficult handicap.

Person: [voice on tape] Good afternoon, Mr. Phelps. The man you are looking at is Walter DuBris, the most unscrupulous financier in Africa. DuBris' brokerage firm is in Ghalea, a small African nation, whose pro-Western government is the key to stability in the area. Last week, the shipment of paper used to make Ghalean currency was hijacked by this man, a counterfeiter, Raf Tagoor. We believe Tagoor has made a deal with DuBris to pass the counterfeit money, which would wreck the Ghalean economy. Because DuBris is powerful and influential, he cannot be arrested on suspicion alone. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to recover the paper and put DuBris out of business *permanently*. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. Please destroy this tape in the usual manner. Good luck, Jim.

Eric: Why is it defectors only want to change their standard of living and never their politics?

Gunnar: An alliance between Pendulum and your organization? That's fantasy.
Lisa: Gunnar, Is it so unbelievable? Our only concern is unnecessary conflict -- Your plans blocking ours.
Barney: We know that you're planning a military coup.
Gunnar: You don't know a thing. You can't!
Lisa: Gunnar, we've picked up information ranging from collusion and bribery to assassination, and they're all dangerous areas
James: We're close
Barney: Who would they aim at? The Chief of Staff, The President? Don't be stupid. Give Malstrom credit for more brains than that. I would say it's a less obvious target.
Lisa: Perhaps somebody in Planning or Intelligence.
Gunnar: And perhaps Santa Claus. This is absurd.
Barney: Is it, Malstrom?
James: Military intelligence and an assassination.
Willy: I'll give Barney the names of Military Intelligence people.

Van: My hobby is curiosity

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. This man, Dutch Krebbs, controls the largest illegal gambling empire in the Southeast. Conventional law enforcement agencies are certain that undercover agent Fred Stenrock, known as Toledo, who was gathering information that would have led to a government indictment, was murdered by Krebbs and his long time lieutenant, Press Allen. At the time of his death, Toledo was wearing a wristwatch camera, which we believe contained enough microfilmed information to smash Krebbs' empire. Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to locate Toledo's body and recover that watch before the exposed film deteriorates. This tape was self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

[last lines]
Elena: You know, the trouble with intelligence work is that you... You make such nice friendships, but there is no future in them.
Rollin: You have a future. Let's settle for that.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. For years, the Syndicate has been operating openly in a western state through enormous bribes to a highly placed political figure known to us only by his underworld code name, C6. Conventional law enforcement agencies lost their only lead to his identity when Special Agent Jack Malloy was killed while on surveillance duty. We do know for certain that all organization payoffs for the area are handled by Syndicate veteran Harry Fife and his chief button man, Luke Jenkins. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to learn the identity of C6 and get the evidence that will put him behind bars. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Carl: [as Josef Gort] "I AM GORT!"

Willy: What's the matter, Jim ?
James: It won't decode.
Willy: But it was our message, we know what it means ?
James: Yes, Yes ! I know it. But there is a grouping variation that doesn't follow any pattern I can come up with. I though it might be a SIMEX transposition, but it's not !

Prime: Doctor.
Dr. Harrison Selby: Uh, yes?
Prime: My heart... there is no cure?
Rollin: We're sorry
Prime: Do not be. You have given me a gift even greater than life. You have permitted me to... To see beyond my death. Now, I must choose my new successor.

James: The House of Rakozny dates from the 14th century without a breath of scandal. Now to protect it, you would ask me to become a thief and a traitor to my country.
Igor: We all have to make little compromises.

Person: [voice on tape] Good afternoon, Mr. Phelps. These two men, Emil Skarbeck and Kurt Lom, are bitter rivals for the vacant post of Chief of Secret Police for the Eastern European People's Republic. Both are hard-liners determined to turn their country into one vast concentration camp. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to eliminate both from contention, so that this third candidate, Paul Trock, who is friendly to the West, becomes the new Chief. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Rollin: She's gonna be okay.
Barney: Toland hasn't come out yet.
James: He may be a while.

Person: [voice on tape] Good afternoon, Mr. Briggs. Elena Del Barra has been acting as an agent for us. Her important assignment deals with enemy plans to infiltrate her country, which is friendly to our government. Recently, she began behaving in a bizarre manner indicating a severe emotional disturbance. Last week, she sent us a strip of microfilm, not of enemy plans, but one which details defense secrets of her own country. Mr. Briggs, your mission, should you decide to accept it, would be to find out why Elena Del Barra is behaving so strangely and whether or not this key agent will continue to be a dangerous threat to our organization. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disclaim any knowledge of your actions. Please destroy this tape by the usual means.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. The man you're looking at is General Casimir Zepke, who is plotting to make himself a dictator. Only one man stands between Zepke and absolute power - Stanislaus Cardinal Souchek, whose influence with the people has kept his country free. We have learned that Zepke imprisoned the Cardinal six weeks ago when he entered Zolnar Monastery for his annual retreat. Zepke intends to replace him with an exact double who will politically endorse Zepke, guaranteeing his final seizure of power. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to save Cardinal Souchek and stop Zepke. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Fernando: Metal work. Rather impressive, don't you think? And this is the sculptor, Carl. Rene Santoro.
Carl: Señor Santoro. A beautiful piece of work.
Rene: I'm pleased that a Santoro original is to be taken to the United States, but, gentlemen, this base is wrong. It's clumsy. It flaws the work.
Carl: We don't agree. Why don't you show Señor Santoro how useful the base will be.
Fernando: You're right. That's only fair.

Barney: Did he swallow it?
Daniel: Power's easy to swallow.

Rollin: I am very embarrassed sir, but... you know the prisoners I brought yesterday? The ones who started the fight?
Comandante: What about them?
Rollin: One of them must have picked my pocket. My watch is gone. It was my father's watch, handed down. I have looked everywhere. They must have it.
Comandante: [exasperated] Well, what do you want *me* to do about it!

Williams: Uh, uh. She didn't.
Doc: [Rollin in disguise] You will all remain where you are. Come with me.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. This is Joe Corvin, one time Syndicate killer and extortionist and now an expert in handling illegal monies. Through Corvin, tens of millions of underworld dollars have been funneled out of this country and into Swiss banks, from there to be returned as foreign investments in American business. So far, conventional law enforcement agencies have been unable to stop Corvin's operations. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to put Corvin out of business for good. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Frank: Nothin's been right since she showed up... or maybe nothin's been right because she showed up.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. Norman Shields controls a major criminal operation which has been infiltrating the entertainment industry. Shields has been using illegal funds, supplied by the chief Syndicate money man, Benjamin Dane. Dane recently loaned Shields 10 million dollars to take over Pantheon Studios. Theodore Dane, Benjamin's brother, will be flying to Los Angeles in the next few days to head operations at Pantheon. Your mission, should you decide to accept it, will be to locate and seize the Syndicate financial records held by Norman Shields. Records detailing exactly how criminal money is being funneled into the entertainment industry. With this information, the entire Syndicate can be smashed. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

James: It's not easy, you know. This isn't something you do every week.

Rollin: The guard watches, the bed checks, and exactly how long we take to get up here had to be timed. Timed to the split-second.
Cardinal: I see, but timed with what?
Rollin: Hear that? That calliope? That music is my watch.

[last lines]
James: No need to thank me, Larry.
Larry: You... you're not even a con, are you?
James: No. Let's have the film.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. Two days ago a private plane exploded while en route to Los Angeles, killing John Vayle, a member of an underworld family headed by Stanley Luchek. We have reason to believe Vayle's death was arranged by Vayle's wife, Eve, enabling her to obtain records he carried vital to the Luchek organization. In the proper hands, those records would put an end to the mob's operation and place Luchek himself behind bars for life. Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to locate those records and turn them over to the authorities. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

[last lines]
Barney: [on microphone] Jim, Weston's a phony. The assassination plan is aimed at everybody at that meeting. There's a bomb in that room.
James: Everybody get out of here! Get down! It's a bomb!

Alfred: [Said in response to both victims expressing gratitude before entering the tunnel] One does what one can.

Senator: You... traitor! We could have convinced the American people to stand up and fight, to attack their enemies while they still have the power to destroy them. It's the only way America can survive.
Rollin: Keep talking, senator. Yes, keep talking. It's the last chance you'll ever get to address your constituents.

James: Now, you two will be replacing two ordinary American citizens who fit our needs and who agreed to cooperate. So when you arrive in Vatzia, you will be Charles Langley, his wife Janet.
Cinnamon: Janet Langley, M.D.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. This man, boss Charles Peck, has determined to elevate his puppet, Mayor Steve Tallman, to the governorship of his state in the forthcoming election. Peck's plan calls for creating an image of Tallman as a strong man who knows how to deal with dissent, in contrast to his opponent, the incumbent Governor, who is to be blamed for the violence which this young man, professional provocateur Billy Walsh, will provoke. Jim, this kind of disorder is severely damaging the prestige and influence of the United States throughout the free world. Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to prevent bloodshed and to destroy Charles Peck for good. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Frank: [to Jimmy Bibo] You wanted a council, Jimmy... You got one.

Leader: Now, gentlemen, Nightfall is a go. And with Project Nightfall, We take control of the single greatest power on the face of the earth -- The United States Military.

Terry: This will never work.
Cinnamon: Yes, it will. Remember what Dan said. People don't look at a crippled old man. They look away.
Terry: Yeah, but nobody looks less like Rollin than I do.
Cinnamon: Terry, *I'll* be wheeling you out. If anybody looks at you, I'll quit the sisterhood of women.

[first lines]
Person: [voice on tape] Good Morning, Mr. Briggs. This is Yanosh Passik, an enemy expert on American traditions, slang, and customs. Passik is gathering some 200 agents who are in final training learning to act as Americans for a special operation. All we know about the plan is that it will be some form of bacteriological warfare against the United States. Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to get into that training center and stop Passik. Make certain his plan fails. Put him permanently out of business. As usual, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape will destroy itself in five seconds. Good luck, Dan.

Commandante: Martillo! We've discussed it many times. I thought you understood. We are not to martyr the priest.
Major: The priest is going to commit suicide. We will be blameless.
Commandante: Oh, I see. The priest. A Catholic priest, to whom suicide is a guarantee to hell, will kill himself in our jail cell, under our guard, and we will be blameless, huh? Such brilliance, such subtlety. Martillo, you are a credit to the revolution. You are also a fool.

Kruger: I have no information.
Colonel: I wonder- how many times have you used that sentence, Herr Schtelman?
Kruger: In the last 25 years, more times than I can remember, Colonel. To you, your predecessor, his predecessor. In rat-infested cellblocks, in palatial offices, in seamy hotel interrogation rooms. Every conceivable setting for my one simple performance line: "I have no Information to give you."

Andrea: Well, at least now we know you're for real.
Nicholas: Well, that answers one question. We know who I am. Who are you?
Andrea: We just have to leave it a question.

Daniel: Crystal!
Crystal: Yes, Dan?
Daniel: Better spend more time rehearsing your trapeze act.
Crystal: Why? I've done it eight a week for two years.
Daniel: Not without a net.

Colonel: There is no one named Sanchez.
Ramone: Sanchez, tell them what we've seen this afternoon... Sanchez?

Frank: Now, what's to worry about, Morgan?
Leonard: It's Dave Sawyer. He's scheduled to appear before the grand jury next week. Mr. C. wants him dead. He's your longshoreman, Delaney.

Gunnar: Don't you realize that this is all just a little ridiculous? I'm not a sneak thief.
Willy: You broke into the viewing room and spied on a top-secret meeting.
Gunnar: You people, whoever you are, You've been sniffing around me! I have a right to some explanations.
Barney: You don't have any rights, Mr. Malstrom

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. This man, Orin Kerr, runs one of the West's most popular resort cities for the Syndicate, channeling millions of dollars into the underworld every year from unsuspecting tourists. Conventional law enforcement agencies could clean up the town, if new a bill presented by the Governor ending county control of gambling passes. Undercover agent Mel Simpson was killed trying to gain evidence of Syndicate's involvement to place before the State Legislature. Your mission, if you decide to accept it, is to get that evidence in time to ensure passage of the bill. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Person: [voice on tape] Good afternoon, Mr. Phelps. General Oliver Hammond, British soldier of fortune who heads the armed forces of the Republic of Camagua, is about to take over the government, aided by Syndicate money. In return, Syndicate leader John Larson and his Lieutenant, Charles Rogan, will control all gambling and prostitution in Camagua. Rogan is bringing Hammond a five million dollar payoff in the form of a key to a safe-deposit box. We have not been able to locate that bank. Your assignment, should you accept it, is to get that key, which will identify the bank and lead to the bank access card, signed by both Rogan and Hammond himself. Publication of the Syndicate deal, backed by the proof in that safe-deposit box, will discredit Hammond and prevent Syndicate takeover of an entire nation. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Person: [voice on tape] Good afternoon, Mr. Phelps. Raymond Halder, owner of a chain of clinics, is also the head of the largest drug counterfeiting ring in the U.S. He is behind the sale of millions of dollars' worth of drugs that not only are useless, but often kill. A new drug, Dilatrin, developed by Gant Pharmaceuticals, which could have saved thousands of victims of primary vascular disease, has been ineffective because Halder has flooded the market with worthless fakes. Gant is about to reissue the drug in a different form in an attempt to beat the counterfeit problem. Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to stop Halder before the new Dilatrin is put on the market. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

James: [handing an x-ray to Cinnamon] Here's your husband; better get acquainted with him. Oh, this is what he looks like with his skin on.

[the team, including a Dr. Ziegler, are planning their strategy]
James: Dr. Ziegler?
Dr. Ziegler: I have arranged that by tomorrow, General Gollan will have what appears to be a severe case of pneumonia.
James: That should make both Eva Gollan and Major Denesch, the General's aide, happy. They both want the General's wealth to fulfill their personal ambitions. And right now, Eva has the upper hand. But her actions are gonna be highly unpredictable.
Willy: I'll keep her busy, but, uh, what about Denesch?
James: He'll be watching her closely, Willy. Now, once you give her the phony bank numbers, she'll leave the Schloss, then he'll follow her.
Tracey: How will we know we have the right number, Jim?
James: The General doesn't trust his memory, Tracey. So he's put the bank number onto a computer. Only he knows how to operate it.
Paris: How much time do we have, Jim?
James: Uh, the General's lawyer's due to arrive at the bank in Zurich at about 3:30. That means that we have to send the correct number by three o'clock, to give them time to empty his vault.
Paris: Can we break Gollan by three?
James: Yes... If we can make him believe that you'll kill me and save him.

[Paris, assuming the persona "El Lider" addresses Vincente Bravo, the dictator of Nueva Tierra and Janos, Foreign Military Advisor of the United People's Republic]

Braddock and Mitchell own a number of promising fighters whose careers they are manipulating for illegal profits at public expense. Middleweight James Loomis recently defied them, and was brutally murdered in a phony "accident." Conventional law enforcement agencies have been unable to act. James: When a man begins to doubt his own mind, you can make him believe almost anything, Cinnamon.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. Peter Cordel, a killer for hire is a man of extraordinary intelligence. Although we are certain that he has murdered at least nine persons, conventional law enforcement agencies have never been able to obtain the evidence even to arrest him. More importantly, we have been unable to identify the Syndicate employer for whom all these murders are thought to have been committed. Your mission, Jim, if you decide to accept it, is to get Cordel and to learn the identity of his employer. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Failure to observe those rules will result in punishment based upon the severity of the offense. Now, that can range from loss of privileges to a term in solitary confinement. If at any time you feel that you wish to speak to me personally, one of the guards will bring you to my office without unnecessary delay. Are there any questions? Which one of you is Lawrence Edison?
Larry: Here, sir.
Barney: Mr. Fort has recommended that you be put in a private cell in the maximum security wing. Why is that, Mr. Fort?

A Major Barrett and several other enemy agents involved were arrested, but not before the information was delivered to this man, Valentin Yetkoff, military attaché at the Embassy in Washington. As usual, with vital information, it must be verified before it can be acted upon. Yetkoff has given that assignment to Roger Toland, his top agent in diplomatic circles. This is Andrei Fetyakov, the number one assassin for the new young civilian group which the Secretary considers far more dangerous than the old-line military intelligence service represented by this man, Colonel Shtemenko. Mr. Briggs, your mission, should you decide to accept it, would be to stop the assassination in such a way as to totally discredit Fetyakov and his organization, so that the old group, which we find easier to handle, will remain in power. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. Please dispose of this recording in the usual manner. Good luck, Dan.

James: Then we're all set. Except for the typhoid. Who's got it?

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. To counteract heavy pressure from their country's young people, Premier Anton Rojek and his special adviser, Josef Czerny, have summoned a special congress of the government-controlled Youth Organization. Its purpose: to endorse Rojek's repressive regime. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to stop the Student Congress from being used as a rubber stamp and to expose Rojek and Czerny before the young people and the world. As always, should you or any member of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Emil: What, what is this? What's happening?

Williams: Howdy.
James: Hi.
Williams: What's it gonna be? Gas, oil, water? Or plain conversation?
James: Well, how about a little bit of each one.
Williams: Alright. Which one you want to start with?

[last lines]
Thomas: [removing tapes from hidden cache] Here they are.
James: [coming in with guns drawn] We'll take that.
Thomas: You...

George: Don't you see how it is? The Americans have staged the whole thing. Vanin, the genius. Master spy. Master fool! They have manipulated you like a puppet! All of this... the bomb which caused us to evacuate the building, your release from prison, bringing your wife here, all for the same purpose... the location of the list.

[first lines]
Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. These men are Edward Stoner and Wilson Cardel, two of the three key scientists vital to the development of United States' Project 12. They have been kidnapped, along with their wives, by this agent, Erik Stavak. The Wilsons and Cardels are in great danger as they are useless to Stavak without the third scientist on the project, Dr. Robert Webster. But should Stavak succeed in getting all three men and forcing them to talk, the solution to what has been described as the Ultimate Weapon will be in enemy hands. The mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to prevent that at all costs and get these two scientists and their wives back alive. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

[last lines]
James: Listen, Mimi, I just had word from the Secretary. Casey's gonna be on some special assignments in Europe. Would you like to work with us from time to time?
Mimi: I'd love to.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. During the past six months, the Grand Duchess Teresa of Trent has come under the domination of a self-proclaimed mystic, Emile Vautrin. Vautrain is a sadistic charlatan who plans to use his relationship with Teresa to make himself ruler of the duchy. If Vautrain succeeds, Trent will become a cruel dictatorship allied with our enemies. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to stop Vautrain. As always, should you or any member of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape will self-destruct in five-seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. The man you are looking at is Alfred Belzig, director of the Socialist People's Bank in the East Zone, but secretly a fanatic who has never given up working for a supreme fascist state. Using his position, Belzig offers to help anyone who has money and wishes to escape to the West. He helps them, and they're never heard from again, and Belzig appropriates their bank accounts. The mission, should you decide to accept it, is to stop Belzig and prevent the over 3 million dollars which he has appropriated from falling into the hands of his new Nazi Party. As always, should you or any member of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This record will self-destruct when it reaches the final groove. Good luck, Jim.

Willy: Let's get out of here.

[first lines]
Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Briggs. Since late in 1945, the Allied Command has been trying to track down Adolph Hitler's personal fortune. Now it looks like we've finally gotten a break. Four young men, sons of Hitler's most trusted officers, are gathering in Zurich, Switzerland. We believe they have knowledge which will lead them to the Hitler treasure. They plan to use it to launch the Fourth Reich. We've been able to identify one of the young heirs. His name is Paul von Schneer. He'll be coming to Zurich from Argentina. Dan, your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to get that money, believed to be over $300 million dollars, before they do. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. Please dispose of this recording in the usual manner.

[last lines]
Barney: Well, so much for the Fourth Reich.

Presidente: Pereda!
Phillipe: I... I know how this must look, Your Excellency. But... but I can explain everything.
Ortega: Oh, yes. Yes, Your Excellency. He can explain everything.
Presidente: Can he? According to your explanation the vault had never been touched. And Pereda was supposed to be in his office. Arrest them.

[last lines]
James: Those last couple of shots weren't for us.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. A canister of deadly experimental nerve gas TX-222, ordered destroyed by the President, has been stolen from an army laboratory. The canister was hijacked by this man, Wendell Hoyes, a fugitive Syndicate Enforcer whose brother Cayman, is serving a life sentence for the murder of a federal agent. Wendell Hoyes is threatening to release the gas in a heavily populated area unless authorities immediately surrender his brother. Obviously, the government cannot be party to any such deal. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to recover the canister of TX-222. This tape will self-destruct in five-seconds. Good luck, Jim.

General: You idiot!

Cinnamon: You get all the fun.
Rollin: On the contrary. I only get to make up. You get to remove all my makeup in front of three men who will kill you if they see what you're doing.
Cinnamon: They'll kill us both.
Rollin: So they would.

[last lines]
James: Herr Belzig thought he was going to escape.
Cinnamon: Ja, like so many others who started for that tunnel.
James: He is not going anywhere.
Captain: At least not until morning, when the time lock on the vault opens up.
James: By then, Captain Heindorf, he will be very happy to go anywhere you wish to take him.

[last lines]
Cinnamon: They're gonna be a long time trying to find the balloon with the wire.
Rollin: That comes from watching the wrong hand.

Phalen: Hello. Got a delivery.
Guard: Plant's closed. Come back in the morning.
Phalen: I can't do that. The manifest says: "Urgent. Immediate delivery."
Guard: Let me see it.
Phalen: Here.
[pulls out a gun]
Phalen: Open up.

Lisa: What's the matter, boys? You look like you got caught with your fingers in the till.

Joseph: I can fix that pretty face of yours so that every time you look in the mirror, you scream.

Larry: You know, while I was in stir, somebody took a shot at me. Who set me up, baby? Not you, you don't have the brains or the guts. Not Vochek; he'd have nothing to gain, everything to lose. So, you. You brought in somebody else. Who is he?
Leona: Does it matter?
James: Sorry, Larry. I got worried. Just protecting my investment in that fair shake you promised me.
Larry: I'm beginning to get a feeling about you, Professor. Like maybe you've been pulling the strings all along.
James: Larry, when you start thinking your friends are your enemies, you're ready for a straitjacket. Listen, I just saved...
Leona: It's me, darling. He knows! You gotta get that film before he... he knows.
Larry: Give me the car keys. Only this time, stay put, Professor, or the only fair shake you'll get is a bullet.

Inspector: As you can see, there is an element of theatricality in our business, too. We shall now allow the blackmailer to lead us to her victim.

[last lines]
Rollin: His Highness was pretty upset at losing all that money.
Andre: He'll feel worse tomorrow when he finds out no one will play in a crooked casino.
Cinnamon: He'll just have to learn that money won't buy happiness.
Rollin: Sometimes, it won't even buy guns.

[last lines]
Rollin: It is a great deal of wealth.
Gen. Diaz: It will do our country much good. I'm only sorry the third man got away.
Rollin: Yes, it is too bad.

Willy: [after swapping out the diamond] Can't tell this one from the fake.
Barney: No, not if you don't look too closely.

Frank: Gun's broken. I couldn't pull that trigger.
James: The trouble's with you, Kearney, not with the gun.

[last lines]
Daniel: You can't kill him, George. He's gotta face the Grand Jury this morning.

Cinnamon: He has to have oxygen immediately. Get him to the infirmary.
Paul: Fast! Keep her here.
Cinnamon: I'm his doctor! I'm the only one who can save him! Now, you don't want him to die, do you?
Paul: All right. But that man from the State Department is going to wonder what you're doing here. I'll answer all his questions. Do you understand? Be sure you understand. Because if he finds out about this, none of you will leave this building alive.

Clegg: One million dollars. I am not used to financing my own suppliers
Reese: Well, look at it this way, you are subsidizing your own growth

Lisa: [as Gladys Collins] Frankie, you know I never drink during the day... unless it's still the night before.

Gunnar: I'll answer your question, General Weston.

General: Are you insane?
Daniel: You leave me no choice, General.
General: Your chances are one in a thousand.
Daniel: Our chances are by random choice, but I won't just guess. I think the code is your national colors. Green, white, and blue. Right, General?
General: No! Not green.
Daniel: Red, white, blue. General, you not only have sense, you have a sense of the ironic.

James: Alfred E. Chambers... Scorpio.
Paris: [dials a phone] Get me an ambulance... and the police. Send them to this address, 1223 Rim View.

Clegg: Send him in... Dolan, what are you doing here ? My meeting is with Jason
Reese: Jason isn't coming. He said for you and me to go on without him
Clegg: This is Jason
Reese: He wanted you to have it.
Clegg: You killed him
Reese: He had a bad fall
Clegg: [Clegg sighs deeply] Alright, sit down. Jason wasn't a bad sort. We did a lot of business together
Reese: As a matter of fact, you placed an order with him yesterday. A very big one. I'll fill it
Clegg: You got the financing
Reese: I'll need an advance
Clegg: [Clegg chuckles] It figures
Reese: I've got a new set-up, Clegg. I'll supply all you can handle. 40% less than you have been paying. Now think about that, 40% less. Heroin does not come cheap these days
Clegg: You got a lot of ambition Dolan and a lot of ideas. I hope for your sake you know how to use both.

Rollin: I'm kind of sorry.
Barney: Why?
Rollin: Well, for a while there, I almost believed it really could produce diamonds.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Briggs. The man you're looking at is Ferenc Larya, the Prime Minister of Svardia, who has long fought to establish democracy and freedom for his people. Larya is now gravely ill and hasn't long to live. He has groomed Deputy Premier Pavel to succeed him and carry on his policies. We know, however, that once in power, Pavel would set up a dictatorship and then purge the country of all opposition. But Larya will not hear anything against Pavel. The mission, if you decide to accept, is to keep Pavel from becoming Prime Minister. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape will self-destruct in 10 seconds. Good luck, Dan.

[first lines]
Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. Two years ago, a sphere of a rare isotope known as trivanium was stolen from us. Trivanium is invaluable as it could lead to development of nuclear weapons so inexpensive that any nation in the world could afford them. Three men engineered the actual theft of the trivanium. One was Otto Silff. The second, Major Paul Johan. The third, the leader, Colonel Alex Vorda, security chief of their country. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to find out where the trivanium is hidden and get it back. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

[first lines]
Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Jim. Until recently, Father Paolo Dominguin has led a democratic revolution against the cruel dictatorship that rules his country. Now, our far Eastern enemies are taking over Father Dominguin's movement. Their agents are Carlos Martillo, the local insurgent, and the legendary international revolutionary Juan Acero. They're holding Father Dominguin prisoner in the mountain village of Lagonas and Acero plans to murder him as soon as he can find a way to do so without arousing the hatred of the local population. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to rescue Dominguin and restore his control of the revolution. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Vito: If you stay, Frank, they'll put you away.
Frank: [disguised Rollin Hand] I'm not going, and they're not putting me anywhere.
Cheever: Well, you shot and killed a U.S. Marshal, and that cop is a witness.
Vito: We talked it over, Frank. You can't stay.
Al: Frank, we're only thinking what's best for you.
Frank: [disguised Rollin Hand] You two have gone crazy. I'm going nowhere.
Vito: Don't make it rough on yourself, Frank. You're out of it... one way or another... tonight.

[first lines]
Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. The man you are looking at is Frank Wayne, head of the syndicate, number one man in the vast criminal empire that is corrupting our nation's economy. Wayne has not been content with merely running the rackets and controlling vice and gambling, but has taken over dozens of other heretofore honest businesses. Recently, Wayne launched a system whereby the syndicate's annual income, now over $10 billion, is being deposited in Swiss banks, causing an intolerable drain on U.S. gold reserves. Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to get the syndicate's records, which are kept at Wayne's country estate, and see that they are turned over to the proper authorities. And put an end to Frank Wayne and his organization. As always, if you or any of your IM Force should be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. The man you're looking at is Raymond Barret, who is currently serving a five-year sentence in the state penitentiary. We have just learned through his cellmate, Max Davis, that Barret is actually Albert Jenkins, who masterminded the Oakdale armored-car robbery five years ago, double-crossed his associates, and hid the $10 million take. By cleverly allowing himself to be caught and convicted as Raymond Barret of a burglary charge he did not commit, he hoped to wait out the statute of limitations on the robbery. That statute expires in two days. When Barret is released from prison in a few months, he will be able to collect the $10 million scot-free. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to bring Barret to justice and recover the money. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Daniel: I owe you an apology. I lost confidence there a moment or two. I thought Fetyakov might have gotten to you.
Cinnamon: I took the bullets, didn't I?

Cinnamon: [by herself] Besides, you just can't explain it. You just had to be there. That's all.

[first lines]
Person: [voice on tape] Good afternoon, Mr. Phelps. You're looking at Colonel Hans Krim, the leader of a mercenary army currently ravaging Equatorial Africa. Ostensibly, Krim fights for the cause of emerging nations, but in reality, he is nothing but a military gangster who plunders ally and enemy alike. Krim and his mercenaries have converted their loot into gold bars which are kept within the enclave used as headquarters. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to destroy Krim and return the gold. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. Last night, one of our SAC bombers crashed behind the Iron Curtain. The plane's fail-safe mechanism did not destruct and has been taken to the Vatzia Institute, which is headed by the brilliant American physicist Paul Shipherd, who defected several years ago. If Shipherd succeeds in disassembling the mechanism, he will learn the key to our entire fail-safe system. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to recover the fail-safe before Shipherd can take it apart and bring Shipherd back. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. Please dispose of this recording in the usual manner. Good luck, Jim.

Cinnamon: [Cinnamon is trying on a mask] How'd I look?
Daniel: Let's just say it works.
Cinnamon: OK, I'll wear it.

Cinnamon: Mm... Can I wear one with a pattern? Flowers, lace, something?
Daniel: Nope.
Cinnamon: You have no fashion sense.
Daniel: Nope.

[first lines]
Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. The people you are looking at have become useless catatonics from being used as guinea pigs in experiments with a compound called B-230. It is a super hypnotic, mind-controlling drug being developed by this man, Dr. Karl Turek. The solution to Turek's problem of B-230's catatonic side effects is in the hands of two disloyal American scientists, Dr. Arthur Jarvis and his wife, Vera, who have undergone plastic surgery. Their defection in Geneva is now being arranged by this man, Colonel Borodin. Once they are working together, Turek's country will soon have the power to enslave the free world. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to stop Turek and B-230. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Person: [voice on tape] Good afternoon, Mr. Phelps. Manuel Delgado, the patron saint of his country's Freedom Party, recently was sent to prison by the totalitarian regime now in power. To help Delgado continue to lead the resistance movement from behind bars, this man, Santos Cardoza, had himself arrested and imprisoned. Needing freedom of action in order to act as liaison, Cardoza managed to become a trustee. This is led to grave danger for him because the other convicts believe he is an informer and Cardoza cannot reveal the true reason for his actions. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to expose the real informer and keep Cardoza alive so that he may continue to aid Delgado. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This recording will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. Last night, the Stonehurst Chemical Plant was robbed of three tons of D-Amphetamine Sulfate, commonly known as "speed." Conventional law enforcement agencies believe that Sam Hibbing, the West's largest dealer in illegal drugs, engineered the robbery and now has the drug hidden at a secret location where he plans to package it in pill form and sell it to the underground at a huge profit. Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to find and recover the speed before Hibbing can distribute it, and to put Hibbing out of business for good. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Dave: What's this haul for, Tolan?
Gregory: Grenades and automatic rifles.
Lee: Yeah, everything for the revolution. Nothing for the revolutionists, huh?
Gregory: You've been doing all right, Sheels. Come on, Finley, move it.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. The authorities suspect but have been unable to prove that crime syndicate chief Sam Dexter murdered his girlfriend Vicki Wells. Dexter is currently serving a prison sentence for tax evasion, and because of the murder investigation, he has been kept under close surveillance. Nevertheless, his criminal organization continues to extort millions of dollars in illegal revenues under the direction of Dexter's secret partner, known only as "The General." Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to discover the identity of The General and prove Dexter's guilt in the Vicki Wells murder, thereby smashing Dexter's crime syndicate. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Rollin: We must destroy our enemies before they destroy us. We must show no mercy to those who threaten the new order!

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. Yesterday, a gang specializing in smuggling criminals out of the country engineered the escape of this man, Gunther Schell, the brains behind the Syndicate's illegal money operations. Conventional law enforcement agencies are unable to locate either Schell or the millions in Syndicate gambling profits he concealed before his arrest. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to recapture Schell and recover that money. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

DA: We've got them accusing each other.
Barney: You have your case.
DA: Yes, I do. And thank you.
Barney: Mr. Scanlon.

Cinnamon: My job's only doing what comes naturally.

James: Good. Fine. You know, Miller really thought he was on the 12th floor, Paris
Paris: People see what they expect to see.

Willy: Gentlemen, shall we begin? We have called this International meeting today to discuss plans for future Worldwide Operations, but first i will give you a progress report on this year to date. Our profits to date from sale of planes, tanks, ships, and minor hardware -- $114.7 million. Project Mosque is a complete success. The bomb planted during the Krishna Festival killed 73, mostly pilgrims, thus ensuring a continuance of the war. Projections -- Munitions -- $782 million. This is exclusive of ground-to-air missiles. We expect deliveries in the next two months. This should increase our munitions income considerably. You had the detailed breakdowns in the annual Report, and forecasting famine conditions in both countries, Commodities sales should continue to rise.
Barney: Gentlemen, we are fortunate. We have an unexpected visitor -- Mr. Gunnar Malstrom... From the Pendulum Group.

Rollin: Mr. Costa. There's been a misunderstanding, Mr. Costa. There's room for negotiation. Mr. Victor would like to make a deal.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. Albert Zenbra, the supreme boss of the syndicate's Mediterranean branch, which processes one-forth of the world's illegal supply of heroin, is dying of cancer. Zenbra will soon designate a successor to whom he will transfer a secret list of the opium farms, transportation routes, carriers, and corrupt officials through which he operates. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to obtain that secret list and prevent Zenbra from perpetuating his empire. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Frederick: I had to do it. Don't you understand? The truth is, right from the beginning it's been me. I wrote the manifesto, I was the voice you heard! I planned it all, every detail. All my life I dreamed of this and that's the reason why it needn't end here! Nothing has to change. Only from now on, I'll give you the orders directly and we can still achieve our goals. Give me a chance to prove it. Let me be your Fuhrer!... Let me be your Fuhrer!... Let me be your Fuhrer!... Let me be your Fuhrer!...

Amara: I would gladly go through the whole thing again for the same results.
James: There just was no other way. Goodbye.
Prince: Goodbye.

Eric: I believe we spend more time hiding things from ourselves than from our enemies.
Valerie: Sometimes it is wise to keep things hidden, colonel. Sometimes you do not know who the enemy is.

Barney: [lays down his poker hand] Aces up.
Cinnamon: You can't have an ace of clubs. I have one.
Terry: Three kings.
Rollin: Well, that beats my five-pair.

James: [about to get into a taxi] Can I give you a lift, sir?

Whitmore: Soldier, would you tell the colonel that you're holding Whitmore Channing. I'm sure if my name were brought to the proper authorities...
[the soldier shoves him roughly back into the room]
Whitmore: ... *your G-2...!*

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. The man you're looking at is Lewis Parma who by extortion, kidnapping, and murder, is close to taking control of the food distribution industry for the entire United States. Using his control of food prices as leverage, Parma is now moving towards positions of power in other important areas of business, labor, and government. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to put Lewis Parma out of business. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. For years, this man, Emil Gadsen, has controlled the largest vice operation in the Northeast. Now Gadsen is about to flee the country to avoid a federal indictment, leaving his partner, Thor Coffin, in charge of the organization. The source of Gadsen's power is a secret list of public officials who are on his payroll. Gadsen plans to take the list with him and continue making payoffs from abroad. Conventional law enforcement agencies are unable to interfere. Your mission, Jim, if you decide to accept it, is to get that list, so we can put Gadsen and Coffin out of business for good. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Scalisi: What about her? Huh?
Cinnamon: I told you it wouldn't work, Jack. I told you.
Jack: What are you talking about? Who are you?
Scalisi: Wait a minute. You mean to tell me you don't know her?
Jack: I never saw her before in my life.
Ohhh.
[Scalisi moves Cinnamon aside and finds the wall safe]
Scalisi: Ah, you never was very smart, Jack. Not about money.
Cinnamon: I'm sorry, Jack. I didn't mean...
Jack: You dirty... What are you doing to me! Who are you?
Cinnamon: Oh, please. Please let me out of here. I don't want to get in any deeper. Please.
Scalisi: You keep your mouth shut. Go on.
Jack: No, no, don't let her out, Vito. It's a frame! Don't let her go.
Scalisi: Open it!
Jack: I can't. That's not my safe. I never saw it before.
Scalisi: Not your safe, in your own bedroom? Open it!
Jack: I can't!
Scalisi: [holds gun to Wellman's face] You got ten seconds!

James: How'd it go?
Cinnamon: Mr. DuBruis has been working too hard. He's about to take a nice long vacation. Where's the paper?
[Barney opens a door on the counterfeit machine to show the paper]

James: [Pretending to be a People's Tribunal chief judge] Major Howard, you are a squadron leader, Strategic Air Command, Marsh Field.
Barney: [Pretending to be Maj. Thomas Howard USAF] Thomas Howard. Major, United States Air Force. Serial number 708975.
James: You are an enemy of the people.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. General Aragas, Regent of the Kingdom of Sardia, plans to murder young King Victor and make it appear that the boy's uncle, Grand Duke Clement of Montego, was responsible for the crime. By disposing of the royal family in this way, General Aragas will make himself permanent ruler and embark on a course of international adventurism that would engulf the whole region in war. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to stop Aragas. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. The man you're looking at is Milos Kuro, Minister of Culture and Director of the National Theater of the UCR. Kuro has been bombarding his people with vicious anti-American propaganda in order to discredit the UCR's Premier, Leon Vados. Considered a progressive behind the Iron Curtain, Vados is attempting to negotiate a non-aggression pact between his country and ours. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to stop Kuro before he destroys all hopes for peace between our two countries. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. Please dispose of this recording in the usual manner. Good luck, Jim.

Rauch: We're searching the hangers.

Rauch: Don't worry, Colonel. We'll get them all. They can't possibly get out of the airport.

Rollin: You know, uh, Dominguez has quite a reputation as a ladies' man, and, uh, as long as you're going to spending an hour here, uh... Why not help me develop my characterization?
Cinnamon: We'll spend the hour rehearsing. I found Dominguez's speech. You may have to deliver it if Barney drops a transistor or something.

Person: [voice on tape] Good evening, Mr. Phelps. Publisher and Communications tycoon, Edward Granger, the most influential man in his state, is controlled by a branch of the Syndicate which owns 51% of his newspaper, television, and radio empire. For a decade, Granger has supported Syndicate candidates and protected Syndicate politicians. He masterminded the murder of one of his own reporters who was getting too close to the truth. In the upcoming elections, the Syndicate slate is expected to sweep Granger's state, and systematically loot it for the underworld. Conventional law enforcement agencies are unable to interfere. Your mission, Jim, if you decide to accept it, is to make certain the voters know the truth before they go to the polls 72 hours from now. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Dana: At least we have him where we can keep our finger on him.
James: Now all we have to do is find out whom he's going to kill... and when and where and how.

Colonel: I made a mistake with you Albert. But mistakes can be erased.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. Nicholas Varsi, a top-grade assassin, was captured eight days ago. He claims to be a defector, but he's refused to reveal his mission to the Federal Intelligence Service, unless he is guaranteed safe asylum. But we cannot prove that he is a defector, that he's not here to feed us false intelligence. Unfortunately, we cannot trust the FIS in this affair. There's a strong possibility that they have been infiltrated by a deep agent. Your mission, should you agree to undertake it, will be to determine if Varsi is a genuine defector. You will have to kidnap Varsi from the FIS without their cooperation and get the truth out of him. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. Nickolai Kurzon, in spite of his exile from Veyska by the military junta that took over the country, has continued to lead a popular movement to overthrow this dictatorship. We know that two days ago, Colonel Alex Stahl, head of the Veyskian secret police, seized Kurzon outside the country, but we don't know where. Kurzon had in his possession a frame of microfilm containing the names of Veyskian officials and leading citizens who support him. If Kurzon and the microfilm are returned to Veyska, it will result in the murder of these patriots and kill their chance to liberate the country. You mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to rescue Nickolai Kurzon and make sure that microfilm does not get to Veyska. As always, if you or any of your IM Force should be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. Please destroy this tape in the usual manner. Good luck, Jim.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. Before he died last year, Premier Kerkoska gave his daughter, Anna, a secret document containing the names of men within his government who privately favored friendly relations with the West. Word has reached us, through diplomatic channels, that Anna and her brother, Alexi, wish to defect. We know this is a plot devised by Alexi to acquire the document, and at the same time, capture American Intelligence agents, thereby embarrassing the West. In spite of this trap, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to get the document and bring Anna Kerkoska to safety. As always, should you or any member of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Jack: [to Frank Wayne] The council will make it's decision now, Frank.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. This is a photograph of Reece Dolan, who recently became the prime supplier of uncut heroin on the eastern seaboard. With an island base off the coast of Northwest Africa, Dolan plans to set up a unique and efficient new channel of manufacturing and distribution, which will be virtually impossible to detect or prosecute through conventional enforcement means. Your mission, Jim, if you decide to accept it, is to identify Dolan's overseas raw opium source and his U.S. buyer, nullify Dolan's operation, and provide authorities with enough hard evidence to convict them all. This record will self-destruct in five-seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Frank: Too bad. All this destruction could've been avoided if old man Geary hadn't been so stubborn.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. Carl Reid is the most important distributor of cocaine in the United States. Fernando Laroca is his chief supplier. These men have set up ingenious, in-detectable pickup and payoff locations, and conventional law enforcement agencies have been unable to stop the flow of this dangerous drug. We have learned that within the next 72 hours, Laroca will deliver to Reid the largest shipment of cocaine ever to be smuggled into the United States. Your mission, should you accept, is to locate and seize this shipment. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Colonel: I think you're all thieves. Performers, yes, but petty thieves as well. I intend to keep my eye on you from now on. Remember that.
Cinnamon: That's trouble.
Daniel: We can't have him watching us, even for the wrong reason.
Barney: Do we take him out?
Daniel: Yes.

Margaret: Thank you. I don't feel afraid anymore. I think I'm going to be all right.
James: We know you're going to be all right.

Edward: The idea of my own death is thoroughly hateful to me. You're smiling. To accept death is supposed to be healthy. Mankind has been taught by religion to walk meekly to the grave. One day he will not do so.
Dr. Laurence: What about overpopulation?
Edward: Doctor, I said that my own death is hateful to me, not yours.

James: Why the injection, Rollin?

Milos: But no one said this, Your Excellency... It isn't... It, it, it's impossible. I never saw or heard those words before.

Ariana: I saw bees. It was a hunch.

Ariana: You don't know? Then I gave my greatest performance.

Willy: Will he be all right?
Cinnamon: He'll be all right in a few minutes.
James: Did you get the microfilm?

Cabot: $4 million for Johnny Thorne?
Hinkle: What do I tell the 20,000 guys who think their money's in a pension fund?

Thomas: [as voodoo drums play in the background] Background music by the Ungrateful Dead.

James: Now, Major Zelinko is suave and charming and totally dedicated to his escape-proof prison. And that's exactly what it is: escape-proof. So, since we can't get Reisner out, we'll get them to hand him to us.

Colonel: You're convinced, General? We should not go through the formality of a trial?
General: Alex, when a man is out to kill you, there's only one way to protect yourself - Kill him first.

[first lines]
Matthew: Check that. Our Midwest gambling take is down ten percent. Now get me the figures on our narcotics distribution.

Lois: I'm anesthe, um, anesthe... the pain of the world doesn't get me, right?

Cinnamon: This is the most beautiful mission I've ever been on!

James: You are an enemy of the people.

James: Mister Edison, don't make the mistake of equating intelligence with lack of masculinity

Colonel: Albert, there are no ethics in our business... especially when you're dealing with a double agent.

Barney: Its getting you out that bothers me. We'll be working right out in the open the whole time.
James: That's what makes the whole idea work.
Cinnamon: You mean we're going to be so conspicuous that nobody's going to notice us.
James: Exactly.

[Believing he has murdered King Selim, Colonel Hatafis addresses a meeting of government officials]
Colonel: To maintain order, I propose therefore, to assume the powers of regent. Now, this has not been a quick or easy decision for me. However, I feel confident in the affection and the support of our people, and in my ability to carry out the great work which was so close to His Majesty's heart.
[Hatafis turns around and sees that King Selim has been standing behind him]

Barney: Mayor Tallman, I want to make sure you understand. We have enough against you in conspiracy charges to put you away for ten years, but the Governor doesn't want to prosecute.
Mayor: Don't give me that. Why did he set me up if he doesn't want to put me away?
Barney: He wants Peck. Testify against him and you have your freedom. Don't be a fool. You don't owe Charlie Peck anything. He tried to kill you. Remember?

Larry: One lousy day! Five grand a month the rest of my life down the drain.
James: That woman you just talked to, Leona? From what I picked up, she jumped the gun on you. What was it?
Larry: A little business deal.
James: Oh, come on, Larry, isn't that a nice way of saying blackmail?
Larry: You got an awful lot going on upstairs, Professor.
James: Yes, yes, I have, so has she. Five thousand a month, I'd lie for a lot less than that. Larry, put yourself in her position. She has something worth that much money, and she hears that Larry Edison is dead, so she reasons: Why not put the money in my own pocket? Now, all of a sudden, she hears that Larry Edison is alive. What would you do? Last night, you mentioned the name "Vochek. " That has to be Vince Vochek;
Larry: Everybody knows him.
James: Now, do I gather that she was supposed to turn something over to the district attorney that would put Vince Vochek behind bars?
Larry: Close enough.
James: Now I can help you.

Cinnamon: Mine's Cinnamon.
Andrei: Cinnamon? Is that some kind of medicine?
Cinnamon: No. It's a spice.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. Conventional law enforcement agencies have been unable to interfere with the operations of these two men, Ollie Shanks and Rudy Blake, who run the loan-shark racket in the islands for the Syndicate. Now they are about to transfer almost ten million dollars in profits to the mainland, thereby motivating the organization to set up additional projects in this new territory. Your mission, Jim, should you choose to accept it, is to discourage the Syndicate from any further large-scale expansion into the islands by getting possession of that ten million dollars and putting Shanks and Blake out of business for good. This tape will self destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

General: I want to know what these men are doing here!
Paris: We are renting the place for the summer, General.

Paris: [his first lines on the series] Yeah. He was captured two weeks ago. It's a closely guarded secret. There have been no photographs of El Lider for seven years.

Archbishop: I am holding the royal and ancient Seal of State. By placing your hand upon the face of the Seal, you will proclaim your holy right to the throne of Povia. If there is no challenge...
Cinnamon: And if there is a challenge?
Archbishop: There will not be. I do not know who you are. I only know that divine providence has brought you to save my country.
Cinnamon: I cannot accept the throne. I am old and frail with years and blind. The future of our country lies not with me, but with someone young who can cast a light of vision into the future. I ask only that Archbishop Djelvas choose a ruler for Povia and that his choice is accepted by the people. That is my one wish. My only command.

Cinnamon: Is that true, that that is not Reisner?
Maj. Nicholas Zelinko: You told them!
Capt. Gulka: Yes, Major, I told them.
Maj. Nicholas Zelinko: Is this the way you repay me?
Capt. Gulka: I only wish I could have done more.
Maj. Nicholas Zelinko: I see.
[looking at Reisner; begins to realize what's really happening]
Maj. Nicholas Zelinko: Oh, but it is not true that, that is an imposter. It really is Reisner! The plan was designed to make us believe that they had gotten him out.
Cinnamon: That explains why you entered the file room. A change of fingerprints to support your story
Maj. Nicholas Zelinko: The fingerprints will bear me out. They will match! No. They must have switched them. Don't you see? They thought of everything.
Cinnamon: Take him away.
Maj. Nicholas Zelinko: You must listen to me...
[Zelinko is hauled away by his own guards]
Maj. Nicholas Zelinko: Don't you see that's the real Reisner in there!

DA: Did your brother explain to you what's been going on, Mr. Collier?
Barney: Just that some of the neighborhood crooks have pushed out the old white syndicate and moved in on the local rackets.
Larry: Exactly, but a black mob is just as vicious as a white one. That's why I'm fighting it.
DA: White or black, nobody operates in the ghetto without Captain Abbot. Get me enough proof to indict Abbot, and the whole thing folds.

Cinnamon: I see you have a great number of Senator Townsend's personal souvenirs, awards, commendations, things like that.
R.J. McMillan: Bill Townsend was s bachelor all his life. When he wasn't in Washington, this was sort of his home.

Alma: [while dancing with Barney] Oh, Barney. Two weeks ago, I didn't think saying goodbye would matter. Now it matters so much.

[Jim Phelps, Willie, and Paris are admiring Barney's latest device, a Remotely Operated Vehicle, ROV, with drill, similar to Pipeline Inspection Gauge or PIG used in Oil and Gas Industry, Paris is holding a Nine of Diamonds card up to its camera]
James: Great, Barney.
Barney: There'll be no transmission problems, Jim, because the Presidential Mansion has its own television transmitter. We'll simply piggyback onto the parabolic antenna and get a strong signal.
James: Mm-hm. Now, their normal method of sending coded messages is by transatlantic cable, but for extra security precautions, the invasion plans are being delivered by a courier from the UPR. He'll arrive at three o'clock.
Willy: Will it just be in code form?
James: No, no, it'll be treated the same as the other messages. It's a unique process where the code is hidden by a photographic overlay. Some kind of chemical spray is placed between the code and the photograph allowing them to be joined together, and another spray separates them once the message has been transmitted.
Barney: Once the courier's photograph gets into the communications room and is removed, the code's only visible for a few seconds.
James: That'll be long enough.

First: [Willy is wheeling a file cabinet with Barney hidden inside down the hallway] Where are you going with that?
Willy: They told me to bring it upstairs before this section closes.
First: The requisition?
Willy: I do not have one.
First: Nothing leaves the file room without a signed requisition. Put it back.
Willy: Very well.

Person: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. You are looking at a picture of Paul Ostro, head of the criminal family of that name, whose activities include narcotics, gambling, prostitution, and extortion. A few weeks ago he suffered severe facial injuries in a hunting accident and is confined to bed. He is using his younger brother, Leo, as his spokesman and contact for the outside world. Since the time of Paul's accident, there are rumors that the Ostro family is planning a new criminal enterprise involving over a hundred million dollars. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to discover the reason for the Ostro's change of policy and smash the new plan, whatever it is. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds.
