300 Best Revenge Quotes

Emily: [closing voiceover] When at a crossroads, my father was fond of saying "Go with your gut." Intuition, he said, always has our best interests at heart. It is a voice that can tell us who is friend and who is foe. Which ones to hold at arm's length, and which ones to keep close. But too often, we become distracted by fear, doubt, our own stubborn hopes, and refuse to listen.

Nolan: Ems, Mr. Bond.

Nolan: Evening, kitten.

Sara: Well, I don't want your money. I want you to leave me alone.
Daniel: Well, I can't, not after what...
[sighs]
Daniel: Not after you hurt yourself the way you did.
Sara: You... you think I tried to kill myself, because you married Emily? That is... is so typical Grayson, believing everything is about you.
Daniel: Your roommate called me...
Sara: I was drunk, Danny. I passed out and almost drowned. I was stupid, okay? But I won't be stupid again.

Emily: Amanda Clarke no longer exists.

David: Emily Thorne? I'm, uh, David Clarke. I thought it was time we finally met.

Aiden: Are condolences or congratulations in order?

Emily: [opening voiceover] Defense lawyers use the term "duress" to describe the use of force, coercion, or psychological pressure exerted on a client in the commission of a crime. When duress is applied to the emotionally unstable, the result can be as violent as it is unpredictable.

Amanda: [voiceover, as Amanda sits next to the slumped body of her father] Upon embarking on a path of revenge, Confucius warns that one should dig two graves. Confucius was right. The second of the two graves was meant for me. I was only saved by my father's infinite love.

Emily: [opening voiceover] They say grief occurs in five stages. First, there's denial, followed by anger. Then comes bargaining, and depression. For most, the final stage of grief is acceptance. But for me, grief is a life sentence without clemency. I will never accept and I will never forgive, not even after the man who killed my father lies dead at my feet.

Emily: [Padma has been captured by the Initiative] I feel like I failed you. Nolan, there was no way I could have made it there on time.
Nolan: It wouldn't have mattered anyway. They have been ahead of us every step of the way. And now... they'll probably kill her, if they haven't already. And I told her... Ems... I promised her I would keep her safe.
Emily: Nolan, look at me... I don't know if Padma's still alive... but I do know that if she is, you are the only person that can find her.
Nolan: I should've let Aiden shoot...!
Emily: Don't say that. Did you... track the source of the text?
Nolan: [despondent] I tried. The encryption's insane. It's gonna take weeks!
Emily: Then, Nolan, you need to get started. Look at me, I know that you are hurting. But you need to stop blaming yourself, get on your computer, and dig until you find them. And I swear to God, when you do, I will help you save her. I give you my word.

Victoria: [gasps] Charlotte. Oh, my, I wasn't expecting you for a couple of weeks.
[hugs her daughter, kisses her]
Charlotte: Well, apparently we no longer own property in Paris, which I loved discovering at 3 a.m. after chartering a car from Brussels.
Victoria: Darling, I'm sorry nobody told you, but the European market is very strong right now.
Charlotte: As is your stable boy, it seems.

Charlotte: [showing the patient wedding photographs] You looked so beautiful. It was like a real-life fairy-tale.
[scoffs]
Charlotte: You've gotta remember something.
Emily: [whispers] I don't.
Charlotte: I know you will. You're my inspiration, Emily. I've always relied on your strength to get me through tough times. I just wish I knew where you got it from.
Emily: [exhales deeply, sighs] My father...
Charlotte: You remember him?
Emily: [nods] Yes.
Charlotte: That's good, Emily. What's his name? Tell me.
Emily: David. His name is David Clarke.
[causing Charlotte to look puzzled]

Nolan: [entering] Hey, Lucy.
Louise: Ready for round two?
Nolan: Oh. What are we toasting?
Louise: You.
Nolan: Oh.
[clinks glass]
Louise: To liars.
[downs drink]
Louise: Now why did LaMarchal Media call my brother asking him about my father?
Nolan: I have no idea.
Louise: Where I'm from, you claim the deer you shot. Now I know you've been working with Margaux and digging up dirt on me.
[voice: ]
Louise: But for the life of me I cannot understand why. I was real with you.
Nolan: Look, it's complicated.
Louise: Mm.
[sighs deeply]
Nolan: LaMarchal is helping me to save my reputation.
Louise: For the price of mine? And my family's?
[tearfully: ]
Louise: It has taken me years of therapy to stop having nightmares about my past. And now you are just gonna destroy that with one story?
[whispers: ]
Louise: Wow. You protect your friends like family?
[sighs deeply]
Louise: Well, now I know where I stand.
[goes off, leaving Nolan feeling bad]

Conrad: Oh, there's my girl.
Charlotte: I am not your girl. You know, despite all the horrible things I heard about Flight 197 and what you did to my actual father, I hoped it wasn't true, that you couldn't be that evil.
Conrad: Uh, what are you saying?
Charlotte: You knew about the bomb that killed Declan!
Conrad: Who told you that?
Charlotte: Do you have any idea how guilty I feel over his death? From the moment it happened, I blamed myself. It made me sick, and I know that's why I miscarried.
Conrad: Oh, Charlotte, sweetheart, that...
Charlotte: You watched me suffer while you sat on your throne in the Governor's mansion.
[tearfully: ]
Charlotte: I'm done helping you.
[turns to leave]
Conrad: Please don't do this.
Charlotte: [disdain] You deserve to die, miserable and alone.
[leaves]

Daniel: Nolan. I see you found my office.
Nolan: Isn't this where I wait to get my Grayson Global ID badge?
Daniel: When I said I wanted to meet, I figured we'd get one on the books.
Nolan: Haven't you heard? Books are obsolete.

Lydia: I am so happy that we're friends again!
Victoria: [smiling broadly] Well it certainly appears that way, doesn't it? But then again, appearances can be deceiving, can't they? And you've practically made it an art form. Understand something, Lydia. Every time I smile at you across a room or we run into each other at a luncheon or I welcome you into my home? Let that smile be a reminder of just how much I despise you. And that every time I hug you? The warmth you feel is my hatred burning through.
[Hugs Lydia warmly]

Emily: [closing voiceover] Just as there are two sides to every story, there are two sides to every person... one that we reveal to the world, and another we keep hidden inside. A duality governed by the balance of light and darkness. Within each of us is the capacity for both good and evil. But those who are able to blur the moral dividing line hold the true power.

Daniel: [as dressed-to-kill girlfriend steps into high heels] Wow. Where are you off to?
Ashley: I forgot that I have to butter up some donors for the Heal the Sound benefit. But I won't be long.
Daniel: Good.
[holding her to him from behind]
Daniel: I'm liable to get jealous with you out dressed like this.
[sensing tension]
Daniel: Something wrong?
Ashley: Daniel, no one's ever been kinder to me than you. I just want you to know how much that means to me.
Daniel: Well, that's nice. You're welcome, babe. Now hurry up, so you can get back here.

Emily: [closing voiceover] Sacrifice demands the surrender of things we cherish above all else. Only out of the agony of those losses can a new resolution be born... An undying devotion to a cause greater than one's self... And a moral duty to see a journey through... to its absolute completion.

Victoria: [looking up from playing the piano] Emily. It's a shame you still feel the need to drop by unannounced.

Emily: [opening voiceover] Destiny... to believe that a life is meant for a single purpose, one must also believe in a common fate. Father to daughter, brother to sister, mother to child, blood ties can be as unyielding as they are eternal. But it is our bonds of choice that truly light the road we travel... love versus hatred, loyalty against betrayal. A person's true destiny can only be revealed at the end of his journey. And the story I have to tell is far from over.

Amanda: [TV news report that Victoria Grayson is still alive] Looks like the bitch is back.

David: All I ask is that you promise to do the one thing that's been so hard for me to do. Forgive.
Emily: But that was a promise I couldn't keep. When deception cuts this deep, someone has to pay.

Emily: [opening voiceover] Some believe confession helps a guilty soul find peace releasing us from the shame and regret of our mistakes. In the face of mortality, many feel the need to seek this closure to make things right. Because if death doesn't kill us, our demons will.

Nolan: My first solo takedown.

Nolan: Are we Italian now?
Louise: Oh, we will be, in about eight shakes of a turkey leg.
[glances at watch]
Louise: More or less. Because what is the wedding of the century without an equally extravagant honeymoon?
Nolan: Italy, huh? Whereabout?
Louise: Wherever the espresso's hot and the men are hotter.
Nolan: Well, I hear Florence is nice this time of year.
Louise: Great! So pack a bag or just a credit card. My jet's getting fueled up as we speak so we'll be good to go within the hour.
[Nolan's phone rings]

Emily: [closing voiceover] We all have secrets we keep locked away from the rest of the world. Friendships we pretend, relationships we hide. But worst of all is the love we never let show. The most dangerous secrets a person can bury are those we keep from ourselves.

Emily: There's only one explanation. There's one secret that I kept. And it has cost the ones I love more than I ever wanted. I am David Clarke's daughter. I am Amanda Clarke.

Emily: How did I get so far off track?

Victoria: Daniel, must we continue this endless display of animosity? I don't know how much longer I can weather this.
Daniel: Emily came clean about how you manipulated her into spying on me. It's pathetic.
Victoria: The fact that she agreed to my proposition should call her own motives into question.
Daniel: Oh, say what you will about Emily, but at least she had the courage to tell me the truth. Which is more than I can say about you.

[last lines]
Emily: [Jack is aiming to shoot] Jack, don't do it!
Conrad: [down below, calling out to his supporters] Thank you!
Jack: Emily, go away, this has nothing to do with you.
Emily: It had everything to do with me. If I had only left you alone from the beginning, none of this would be happening.
[tearfully: ]
Emily: Don't throw your life away because of the choices I have made.
Jack: What choices? What are you talking about?
Emily: Jack, look at me.
[he does, he is no longer aiming at Conrad]
Emily: Deep down inside you've always known the truth.
[Jack looks at Emily and sees young Amanda]
Emily: I'm Amanda Clarke.

Nolan: Spoiler alert, your girl talk with Miss Montauk didn't work. Faux-manda is still causing boats to crash in the harbor.
Emily: I know. She doesn't want to leave.
Nolan: Since when do you take no for an answer?
Emily: It's not that easy with her. I can't just force her to leave. I have to let her cool down before I approach her again. Just try to run interference with Jack until I figure something out.
Nolan: Fine. Only because I don't want to see him get emotionally creamed again... or worse.

Emily: Trust is a difficult thing, whether it's finding the right people to trust or trusting the right people to do the wrong thing. But trusting your heart is the riskiest thing of all. In the end, the only person we can truly trust is ourself.

Louise: [to glum Victoria] You know, before lunch, we should stop at Tiffany's. 'Cause nothing cures the blues like a little blue box.

Charlotte: [in her room] My mother will freak if she knows you're up here. Not a big fan of surprises.
Amanda: I'm not afraid of her. You shouldn't be either.
Charlotte: I'm not.
Amanda: Good, 'cause if we're gonna get closer, I... I can't protect her anymore.
[hands her the diary]
Charlotte: What is this?
Amanda: A journal our father kept in prison. I marked the entries that I thought you should read first. But I have to warn you, what it says about your mother isn't pretty.

Emily: [flashback] I want to know why you dropped my father's appeal.
Ryan: I'm sorry, Ms. Clarke, that's privileged information.
Emily: Not anymore. I don't know if you heard, but my father was murdered in prison. And as far as I'm concerned, you're just as guilty as the man who stabbed him to death.

Ashley: [to Victoria] We volunteered together at the Met this winter. Apparently, being a sustaining patron just wasn't enough for Emily.
Emily: I try to give back as much as I can.

Emily: [closing voiceover] Truth is a battle of perceptions. People only see what they're prepared to confront. It's not what you look at that matters, but what you see. And when different perceptions battle against one another, the truth has a way of getting lost. And the monsters find a way of getting out.

Charlotte: [bridal shower speech] And it took some time for my brother to find someone who'd put up with him. And I get that. He can be annoying.
[laughter]
Charlotte: But he's still my best friend. So, Emily, be good to him, or you'll have me to deal with.
[raising: ]
Charlotte: To Daniel and Emily!
all: To Daniel and Emily!
man: [calling out from crowd] Cheers!
Charlotte: [stepping down from podium] I see you drank to that. Refills?
Daniel: I'll get us all one.
Emily: That was lovely, Charlotte. Thank you.
Charlotte: [veiled warning] I meant every word.

Victoria: I spoke to Dr. Hicks. You polished off an old prescription of my Xanax and then had it refilled. Why are you going down this ugly road again?
Charlotte: Are you seriously asking me that?
Victoria: We have all been to hell and back.
Charlotte: Yeah, mine was a one-way trip. I just found out Emily is Amanda and my father is alive.
Victoria: Exactly, he is alive. And your reaction is to hide behind a haze of pills.
Charlotte: No, my reaction was happiness. But you ruined that and made meeting my father all about hurting Emily. What do you really want from me, Mom?
Victoria: Nothing but to see you happy.
Charlotte: [sighs] The Grayson mantra. Lie and deny. I'm sick of it. I do want a relationship with my father, but not if you're gonna be controlling it.
Victoria: [gets up from chair] You are not a victim, so stop choosing to act like one. Now, if you want a relationship with your father, fight for it. And if you want my respect, then earn it. But do not give in to the darkness - that will destroy you.
[leaves, with those words hitting home with Charlotte]

Emily: [opening voiceover] For those who believe in resurrection, death is inconsequential. It's not an ending, but rather a new beginning... a second chance. A reunion. But the very idea of resurrection is so seductive a concept, it's easy to forget, before you can rise from the dead... you have to spend a few days in hell.

Emily: [opening voiceover] Penance is a sacrifice. A voluntary punishment to show remorse for a sin. The more grievous the sin, the greater the self-inflicted suffering. For some, the ultimate penance is death. But for others, it is simply a means to an end.

Charlotte: I think you're just ashamed. God forbid he sees what you've become.
Emily: [fed up with her] You know, for a while now, I've given you the benefit of the doubt, because your parents did you no favors by protecting you with lies. But you're too old for excuses, Charlotte. It's time you own your bad choices. That
[gestures at corpse]
Emily: could easily have been you lying there. You only called me because you wanted someone to come and save you. But I can't do that. You've hit rock bottom. Only you can pull yourself out.

Nolan: What now, revenger?
Emily: Let the punishment fit the crime. Victoria took my mother away from me. It's time I took her daughter away from her.

Lyman Ellis: [Elena is basking in the sun] And how is my favorite unreal housewife?
Louise: [takes off sunglasses] Well, I was hoping you'd have caught a ride out of town on mama's broom.

David: [writing a letter to Amanda] Conrad and Victoria knew the victims' families would need a devil to shoulder the blame for the money Conrad had been laundering for the terrorists. They chose me as the patsy, while passing themselves off as grieving benefactors. Never underestimate the power of guilt, Amanda. It compels people to some pretty remarkable places.

Nolan: The evidence does keep piling up. This is gonna be one hell of.a wedding.

Emily: [opening voiceover] Some say that our lives are defined by the sum of our choices. But it isn't really our choices that distinguish who we are. It's our commitment to them.

Conrad: [visiting Emily] You've already taken two bullets to the stomach. Going forward, I'd watch your back.

Victoria: [to Ashley] You're right. This is just a seasonal trifle. Not unlike yourself.

Victoria: Stop!
Charlotte: I need to get out of this house!
Victoria: You're not going to see Emily Thorne. I heard about her visit.
Charlotte: If you must know, I despise her almost as much as I despise you.
Victoria: Oh, I assure you that she will far surpass me on that list once certain truths come to light.
Charlotte: [sighs] God, Mom, you sound just as crazy as she did.
[heads for door]
Victoria: [pushes door shut in front of Charlotte] What did she say, exactly?

Nolan: Did you know that he brought Charlotte? That's an interesting choice, if you ask me, him going after Daniel's sister.
Margaux: What do you mean?
Nolan: I'm not sure you heard, but... Charlie did a stint in rehab after an overdose. She's not the most stable little pony.

Emily: [closing voiceover] Nature can be cruel. Predators are everywhere. Those who don't need to be protected from outside forces often need to be protected from themselves. In society, women are referred to as "the fairer sex". But in the wild, the female species can be far more ferocious than their male counterparts. Defending the nest is both our oldest and strongest instinct. And sometimes, it can also be the most gratifying.

Ashley: So you're not even bi?

Victoria: You have no idea what you've done.
Charlotte: Since you're obviously much happier with your other children, I'm moving out.
Victoria: Fine.

Margaux: What is she doing here?
Victoria: I invited her.
Margaux: [as the other two kiss] Victoria, I beg you, do not let this woman into your life.
Louise: Well, somebody has to lighten the mood around here. You're about as depressing as a Yankee groom at a Southern wedding.

Victoria: [institutionalized under duress] You won't get away with this!
Emily: [whispers] Watch me.

Emily: [opening voiceover] In a race between danger and indecision, the difference between life and death comes down to confidence. Faith in our abilities, certainty in ourselves, and the trust we put in others.

Nolan: What's my little girl with the infinity tattoo up to today?
Emily: Suddenly, she's thinking of filing a restraining order.
Nolan: Yeah, well, isn't that the pot calling the kettle black? So... what irons are we throwing in the fire this week?
Emily: We are not throwing anything anywhere. I am going for a swim.
Nolan: Ha! I thought you might say that. You know, it wouldn't, uh... it wouldn't kill you to try and be nice to me.
Emily: Not part of the plan.
Nolan: Certainly hasn't stopped you from cozying up to Daniel Grayson.
Emily: That's because he actually *is* part of the plan.

Ashley: [as the news comes in regarding the health of Conrad's rival] Incredible. In two days from now, you'll be governor of New York.

Victoria: [her daughter back from police inquiry] Charlotte, dear, were they able to help you?
Charlotte: Don't worry, Mom. I didn't tell them anything I learned about you.
Victoria: That's not what I...
Charlotte: Save it. I'm sure this is already a pretty sad day for you since my father's case has been reopened. Undoing all that hard work you did years ago.
Victoria: [takes Charlotte by the shoulders] Do not confuse Conrad's actions with mine. After everything that's transpired, I am still putting my children first.
[wipes the hair away from Charlotte's eyes]
Victoria: I hope you know how much I love you.
Charlotte: [eyes narrowing] Oh. Like you loved David Clarke?

Nolan: Ding, dong, the bitch is dead.
[sighs]
Nolan: Victoria Grayson has actually taken her last breath.
Amanda: It's hard to believe, but... the coroner confirmed it.

Louise: [showing off slinky dress] Too much, or 'hot damn'?
Daniel: Definitely 'hot damn'.
Louise: So, tell me, Danny, am I wasting all my top-notch flirting on you? Is there a prim New York girl waiting at home?
Daniel: No.
[smiles]
Daniel: No, there's not.

Marion: I thought at least you might enjoy having pity on me.
Victoria: Pity is not a quality you taught me.

Victoria: [to Emily] I know what a woman in love looks like, and that's not you. Not one year ago, and not today.

Victoria: Don't hurt my son, Emily. You'll live to regret it if you do.
Emily: The last thing I want is for Daniel to get injured in any of this. Assuming that you feel the same way, I think it's time that we work out our differences.
Victoria: Yeah, I think we can both do that for Daniel's sake.
Emily: Victoria. I'm glad we had this talk. I really want to make things right between us. Especially because there's a chance that we could be family some day.
[Victoria just smiles coldly, and leaves]
Emily: Bye.
[smiling to herself]

Nolan: [as Aiden enters the Graysons' masquerade party] Ah. Well, well. Every opera needs its phantom.

Conrad: [as Victoria idly plays on piano] The authorities will be arriving any minute.
Victoria: Well, I won't waste my energy throwing you out.
[ceases playing, causing one false note]
Victoria: Though I am surprised that you haven't gassed up a Gulf Stream and gone on the lam.
Conrad: Oh, running would be undignified.
Victoria: Particularly after suffering the humiliation of being sold out by your very own daughter.

Louise: [emerging from dressing room] Danny! You made it! Is this your first business meeting in a dress shop?
Daniel: [scoffs] Yeah. Pretty... pretty sure it is, yeah. Although, next time, you might wanna choose someplace more private. My family is still the top story.
[onlookers peering]
Louise: They don't bother me. I'm from the South, dear. If they're not gossipin' about you, you might as well be dead.

Charlotte: I'm getting you through this, whether you want me to or not.
Conrad: You know, I may have used up all my good luck on you, and it was worth it!

Louise: [discovers blood in doorway] I knew it! This wasn't a suicide at all. This was murder!

Emily: [opening voiceover] Clarence Darrow, one of history's greatest lawyers, once noted "There is no such thing as justice, in or out of court." Perhaps because justice is a flawed concept that ultimately comes down to the decision of twelve people. People with their own experiences, prejudices, feelings about what defines right and wrong. Which is why, when the system fails us, we must go out and seek our own justice.

Ashley: Good morning.
Conrad: Oh, good morning.
Victoria: Charlotte, would you excuse us for a minute? It seems that the cat has dragged itself back in.
Ashley: [handing file to Conrad] There's the report you requested.
Conrad: [taking it] Thank you.
Victoria: [smirking] So this is the new communications director? Don't you know that politicians tend to keep their concubines in the closet?
Ashley: [sarcastically:] Spoken like a woman that no one is sleeping with.
Conrad: You'll be happy to hear that Miss Davenport and I have put our past behind us, and we are now looking to the future.
Victoria: Well, I can only imagine what kind of horrifying footage that will yield.

[For the truly wronged... Real satisfaction can only be found in one of two places... Absolute forgiveness... Or mortal vindication]

Charlotte: Vince?
[he enters behind her]
Charlotte: There you are. Hey, where's all my stuff?
Vince: [threatening manner] Make yourself comfortable.
Charlotte: No, I... I got to get home.
Vince: [has a gun] I know this must be confusing, especially after last night. I usually don't sleep with the bait,
[hand brushing over the side of Charlotte's face: ]
Vince: but how could I resist?
Charlotte: The bait? Bait for what?
Vince: [ominous tone] A fish I've been after for a very long time.

Emily: Charlotte?
Charlotte: Shh...
[baby Carl is asleep]
Emily: Oh. Sorry. I just wanted to come and check in and see how you were doing. I haven't heard from you in a couple of days.
Charlotte: [eyes wet] I guess I'm more private than the rest of my family.
Emily: I heard your Dad's making a statement today.
Charlotte: [exhales] I know.
[scoffs]
Charlotte: Of all days. I feel like I was just getting to know her. I still had so many questions. She had this whole past I knew nothing about. And I hate that there will only be a few people coming to her funeral.
Emily: It's all the people that mattered to her. That's all that counts.
Charlotte: I guess you're right. She just deserved such a fuller life.
Emily: Well, I just wanted to check in. I'll see you at the service.
[turns to leave]
Charlotte: Emily. She was lucky to have a friend like you.
[Emily nods wordlessly, turns, leaves]

Emily: For $3000, how old do you want me to be?

Victoria: [as she enters the room] Charlotte, why isn't your hair done?
Charlotte: [handing Mom a little gift box] Here. This is for you, for today.
[Mom opens, it's sapphire earrings]
Charlotte: You gave it to me for my...
Victoria: ...sixteenth birthday. We had tea at Pierre, and saw Swan Lake.
Charlotte: I thought it could represent something borrowed and blue.
Victoria: Thank you.
[kisses her]
Victoria: Now you really have to get your hair done. The cars are coming in two hours.
Charlotte: I'm not going, Mom.
Victoria: What do you mean, you're not going? Of course you are.
Charlotte: I can't do it, Mom. Go out there in front of all those people and fake it for yet another PR stunt?

Emily: [opening voiceover] Every human is born of collusion. We come into this world the result of a covenant. Sometimes made of love... sometimes of circumstance... but almost always made in secret.

Emily: [closing voiceover] The past is a tricky thing. Sometimes it's etched in stone, and other times, it's rendered in soft memories. But if you meddle too long in deep, dark things, who knows what monsters you'll awaken?

Jack: Tell me, when exactly did punishing the guilty become more important to you than helping the innocent?
[goes off, leaving Emily questioning herself]

Victoria: Sweetheart, are you all right? How's baby Carl?
Charlotte: Perfect. I keep checking to see if something's changed, if somehow he knows his mother's... gone, but...
Victoria: He's too little. He couldn't possibly understand.
Charlotte: [tearfully] He will one day.

Louise: Oh, I came back early. You have not seen family drama until you've been to an Ellis funeral. It was horrible. I ate my weight in grits in three days
Nolan: You see, I know I should have gone with you.
Louise: Seeing Lyman in his coffin just... gutted me. And hearing mama, in front of all the rest of those liars and chests, delivering a eulogy worthy of Margaret Mitchell...
[shakes her head]
Louise: just made me ill.
[sighs,: ]
Louise: The only lie I told myself is that I could handle it alone.
Nolan: Well, you're... you're home now. It's okay. What can I get you?
Louise: [shrugs] Well, two things...
Nolan: Hmm-mm?
Louise: First, I really need one of our Wonder Twin nights. They're so much better than three Xanax and a glass of Rosé.
Nolan: Well, that is high praise. What else?
Louise: I want a baby.

Nolan: Spineless, seer-sucking dilettante! I haven't been this disappointed since Phantom Menace.

Victoria: Your message sounded urgent. Is something wrong?
Charlotte: I just wanted to say goodbye.
Victoria: I don't understand. Where are you going?
Charlotte: I'm taking control of my own life. I'm checking myself into rehab.
Victoria: [chuckling] Charlotte. Oh, that's wonderful. I know some excellent facilities.
[strokes the girl's hair]
Victoria: Where do you think you'll be going? Hmm?
Charlotte: I'd rather not say, since a large part of me doing this has to do with me getting away from you and your lies.
[Victoria looks dismayed and stops stroking her hair]
Charlotte: David deserves to know the truth about Emily, but don't worry, I'm not gonna say anything. It's your lie. I'm just not gonna stick around to watch you tell it.

Emily: Victoria's behind this, I'm sure of it. She's terrified that my father will learn the truth about her, so she put a police line between us.
Nolan: Well, it definitely sounds like her shade of bitch.

Charlotte: All this time, why didn't you tell me?
Emily: Believe me, I wanted to. Every part of me... wanted to, but... I had to protect you... and I think... after everything I'd done, part of me felt that I didn't... deserve you. But then I saw you today, and I recognized that pain.

Victoria: [Mom has just met her love interest, poor boy Declan, and as he skateboards away:] The things you do to torture me.
Charlotte: It's not always about you, Mom.

Nolan: Y'ever notice how, whenever you want her to leave, girlfriend keeps popping up like the homicidal-stripper version of Whac-a-Mole?

Nolan: Emily, wait! What are you gonna do?
Emily: [still clutching knife] What I should have done in the first place.
[Nolan regards her with a look of concern]
Emily: I'm gonna kill them all!

Conrad: Charlotte always was an over-achiever.
Charlotte: Just like my mother.
Conrad: May she rest in peace.

Victoria: [her response to hearing from Daniel that his engagement to Emily is back on] How... repetitious.

Victoria: [arriving at wedding ceremony] Mm. I'm sure that smile would be genuine if Lydia was draped over your arm. I heard about your slumber party last night.
Conrad: Oh, that was a momentary lapse of reason, not unlike our last approach to the altar.

Charlotte: My party was a blast, Daniel. Sadly, no potential boyfriends, but, still, thank you.
Daniel: [chuckles] Stay single, Charlotte. Life's far easier that way. I think Emily's out to get me. A bellhop at the South Fork told me that she and Dad are working together on something.
Charlotte: Why would she trust him when his mistress shot her?
Daniel: [lowers his glass] I'm not sure. But... they got close when he thought he was dying, and... and, you know, he always wanted me to marry Emily.
[shrugs, puts down his drink]
Daniel: Listen, I want you to... help me with something.
Charlotte: What do you want me to do?
Daniel: Voulez is Dad's new base of operations. Okay, now that you're working there, find out all you can about what he's up to.
[she nods]
Daniel: All right? Like I said, it's just you and me now.
[she smiles]

Emily: Tyler never showed up for dinner. I'm impressed. How'd you do it?
Nolan: Well, I can't take all the credit. I took a page from the angel of revenge herself. Dug up some dirt, used it for leverage.
Emily: What's the dirt?
Nolan: Suffice it to say our boy is a bit of a con man. What he doesn't know is you can't con a con.

Victoria: [to Conrad:] Well, it seems Declan is old enough to engage in a variety of adult activities.
[to the boy: ]
Victoria: Charlotte's gone for a walk to clear her head.
[takes him by the shoulder]
Victoria: Shall we?
[leads him off]
Victoria: I've always fancied us as having a... healthy respect for one another.
Declan: I'd say we had our ups and downs.
Victoria: A respect born of the fact that you've understood your rightful place in this family... in that you don't have one. So imagine my confusion when you have the audacity to show up here after everything you've done.
Declan: That's what I wanna talk to Charlotte about. This new friend of hers, Regina, I don't know how she got those bruises, but I would never do something like that, and... It's just that Charlotte believes everything she says, like she cast some kind of spell over her.
Victoria: It isn't a spell, Declan. She's pregnant.
Declan: She's what?
Victoria: Oh, I see she hasn't told you. And for good reason.
Declan: There's gotta... there's gotta be a mistake.
Victoria: Oh, there is. And I am done looking at it. Stay the hell away from my daughter, or your ability to procreate will be nothing but a distant memory.

Emily: Jack saw the tape, Nolan. What the hell happened?

Victoria: [to the reporter] The thought of never seeing my children again was far worse than anything my captor could have ever done to me. You can call it a mother's will to survive.
Charlotte: [interrupting interview] More like a monster's! I just found out the real reason why you don't want me having a relationship with Amanda. Because she knows the truth about what you did to my father.
Victoria: Charlotte, this is not the time.
Charlotte: [to the reporter] Who, for the record, was David Clarke.
Victoria: [to the reporter] If you run that, I will sue you for libel.
Charlotte: It's only libel if it isn't true. Go ahead, Mom. Deny it.
[Victoria inhales sharply, cannot lie her way out of this]
Charlotte: That's what I thought!
[rushes off]
Victoria: [to the reporter] This interview's over!
[rises, marches off]

Mason: So I was right. You really are the brains behind this Machiavellian scheme.
Emily: You were this close, Mason.
[gesturing with thumb and forefinger]
Emily: But you missed the one thing that's been right under your nose the whole time. She's not Amanda Clarke.
Mason: [slowly dawns on him] You are?
Emily: [grinning] Hmm.

Charlotte: [he offers her a portfolio] What's that?
Daniel: I went to the bank and opened up a new trust account for you, one that Dad can't touch. I transferred everything I own into it, including my half of the inheritance. You can even have my car if you want it.
Charlotte: What? Why are you doing this?
Daniel: 'Cause when you were born, Mom made me promise to be nice to you, and I don't want to let her down. I'm gonna move out to the pool house. You can, uh, have this place to yourself.
Charlotte: Daniel, I-...
Ashley: What's this about the pool house?
[been eavesdropping]

Amanda: [tearfully reciting lies fed to her about her father] He hurt people.
Dr. Michelle Banks: Go on.
Amanda: He... he killed people.
[shakes her head sadly]
Amanda: And he lied.
Dr. Michelle Banks: Good girl.

Victoria: [on phone] Conrad, this is Victoria.
Conrad: [he had no idea she survived] Is this some kind of a joke?
Victoria: Oh, you wish. The next few moments are going to be the most important of your miserable life. You're going to do exactly as I say or I will haunt you all the way to your last pathetic day on earth.

Victoria: [to her visitor] You here for your sour grapes?
Conrad: No, I heard the news. You know, I thought that your imminent departure would bring me solace, but oddly, there's another sensation kicking around inside of me.
Victoria: A burst appendix, I hope.

Emily: [opening voiceover] Some think intuition is a gift. But it can be a curse, as well. A voice calling us from places that are better left unexplored. An echo of memories that will never die, no matter how hard we try to kill them.

Emily: [closing voiceover] Adversity creates unexpected alliances, but treaties of this nature seldom form with an equality of power. Loyalties forged in apprehension and mistrust are tenuous at best. Easily broken when held up to the unforgiving light of the truth. But in the darkness of our most desperate hours, it's often these loyalties that lend us the strength to do what we know must be done. A conflicted heart feeds on doubt and confusion. It will make you question your path, your tactics, your motives. When you stare ahead and darkness is all you see, only reason and determination can pull you back from the abyss.

Kara: Hope is just a sure way of getting your heart broken.

Charlotte: Please. You can't do this to me. I'm only nineteen. I'm just starting my life. I just got my father back. Please.
Vince: I know what you're trying to do here. Spout off a bunch of personal details. Make yourself seem like a real person. It's not gonna work.

Charlotte: [to Mom, showing off her string bikini] Do you think I'm tan enough for my first day on the beach, or do I need another spray?
Victoria: What you need is another bathing suit.
Charlotte: Compared to what the rest of my friends are wearing, this is practically a burka.
Victoria: Unlike the rest of your friends, it is important to me that you don't end up on page six at one of Diddy's hot tub parties.

Conrad: [seeing his daughter at the breakfast table] Good morning, kitten.
[kisses her on the top of her head]
Conrad: It's lovely to have you back in the litter.
Charlotte: Lovely to be here, Daddy.
Victoria: Won't your mistress be joining us, Conrad? I'm sure we could rustle up a Pop-Tart.
Conrad: She is not my mistress. Morgan is a real estate specialist.
Victoria: And what will you be purchasing? A place in hell?

[last lines]
Malcolm: [standing over Emily] So, Amanda Clarke's alive! I came for your father, and look what I found! This is so much better!
[Emily tries to get up]
Malcolm: Shh! Night-night!

Charlotte: Jack, don't! I don't deserve your pity. I'm the reason your brother's gone.
[turns to leave]
Jack: Charlotte, wait! There's something you need to know.

Emily: Let's take down the Graysons once and for all!

Charlotte: [coming down the stairs, giggling at the prospect] Nothing like a little retail therapy.
Regina: Sounds beautiful.
[chuckles]
Daniel: Where are you two off to?
Regina: I'm taking Eeyore out to buck her up. Promise not to make any more headlines.
Daniel: Can I have a minute with my sister?
[Regina moves on]
Daniel: Look, I just wanted to say you don't have to be embarrassed about what happened outside that club. All right? Not around me.
Charlotte: Don't try to commiserate. You have no idea what I'm going through.
Daniel: Sure I do. I... I've been through a rough patch when I was your age. Hey, you... you're going to be at our engagement party later tonight, aren't you?
Charlotte: Sorry, but I can't be around Mom right now. And I'm sure you understand or you wouldn't be moving to France. But good luck tonight.
[moves to go, then turns back]
Charlotte: And this year, try not to shoot anyone.
[he scoffs]

Nolan: [summing up the wedding] Lifestyles of the rich and shameless.

Emily: [opening voiceover] When on a mission of revenge, one must maintain total control... over risk, emotions, and one's enemies. The single greatest threat to success is losing control of your allies.

Emily: [as they wait for Charlotte who is identifying the body] She's brave... like her sister.
Victoria: Well, there are moments in a person's life that change you forever. And I fear this is one of them for Charlotte.
Emily: Especially since she and her sister had grown so attached.
Victoria: You try to protect your child from all pain. But to not be able to stop what's going on behind those steel doors...
Emily: You must feel so helpless.
Charlotte: [door opens, tearful Charlotte comes running out] Mom...!
[into Mom's arms]
Victoria: Oh, sweetheart...! Baby, I've got you, it's okay.
[holds her sobbing daughter]
Victoria: I'm here. I'm here.

Emily: [closing voiceover] For those who believe in the resurrection, death is inconsequential. In the resurrection, those that were dead live, and those who live believe they shall never die.

Nolan: [showing Emily the video of Frank's attempted murder of Lydia] That thud you hear... is the sound of Lydia hitting the roof of the taxi five stories down.
Emily: I can't believe she survived.
Nolan: I can't believe I survived.
Frank: [on the video] Victoria, it's Frank. I have some bad news to report. Lydia Davis just jumped off her balcony. Call me when you get this.
Nolan: You know, if I'd shown up one minute earlier, that psychopath would've caught me.
Emily: Yeah, but he didn't. And you made it out with the list and the video camera.
Nolan: [handing Emily the photograph Lydia was going to use to expose her] And this.
Emily: We got lucky.
Nolan: You might want to revisit your definition of "lucky" in the dictionary. Lydia might die because of us.
Emily: If Lydia dies, it's because she sold her soul to the Graysons. This wasn't supposed to happen. I didn't set any of this in motion, they did.
Nolan: Fine. Let's say she survives. Wakes up tomorrow remembering only one thing: this picture. Eventually, someone's gonna find you out.
Emily: Not if they believe it's all been Frank. As far as the Graysons know... Lydia attempted suicide. When they see this video, they'll know that Frank lied to them.
Nolan: Let's send a copy to the police.
Emily: No police. Frank dug his own grave. All we need is for Victoria and Conrad to bury him in it.

Emily: Is Victoria's heart still beating?
Nolan: Was it ever?

Louise: [viewing the content of Nolan's flash drive] That lying bastard. I'm gonna hang him by his unmentionables.

Charlotte: Why is there a man installing a camera outside my bedroom?
Conrad: Ah, a necessary evil, my dear. I mean, there are worse places to be imprisoned.
Charlotte: Oh, you mean like the rehab you locked me up in?

Margaux: Really? Because it seems to me you put those wheels in motion the moment you got to the Hamptons. With lies I'm now fully aware of.
Emily: You need to remember the secrets I have about your father. Enough to sink you and... the fifth largest media conglomerate in the world.
[smiles]

Nolan: What's on the revengenda this evening?

Sloane: I didn't mean to startle you, Mrs. Grayson.
Victoria: Sloane, it's so good to see a friendly face. I'm so glad you accepted my invitation.
Sloane: I was, too, until I saw Danny back on the arm of the Ice Queen.
Victoria: Well, I always thought the two of you were a much better fit. Give them a few days. They'll have parted ways again.
Sloane: Oh... then I guess you haven't seen it...
[shows Victoria the society tidbit of Daniel and Emily on her cellphone]

Daniel: I didn't hear you come in last night.
Emily: Um, I got a late start leaving the Hamptons, dropped in on your Mom for a goodwill call.
Daniel: Yeah? How is the witch?
Emily: She actually said she'd come today.
Daniel: Really? It seems like we're all doing better apart than together.
Emily: It's been a long time, Daniel. What could go wrong?

Charlotte: [as Ashley, not Conrad, gives the speech] She's giving the eulogy?
Conrad: Uh, tribute, sweetheart, tribute. Eulogies are for funerals.

Louise: [emerging from swimming pool, showing off in white bikini] You still checking out my portfolio?
Daniel: [nose to the grindstone] You can afford to take more risks. Your buys have been way too conservative.
Louise: Says the guy in a suit at the pool. Come on, it's summer. It's hot as hellfire. Don't you want to get in and cool off, then we can talk some business?
Daniel: I'd rather talk about increasing your return.
[smiles]
Daniel: I can give you some quick fixes, but... you need a more comprehensive overhaul. Trust me.
Louise: [comes nearer] And why should I trust you?
[sits down next to him]
Louise: I don't know anything about you. Except for your last name.
Daniel: Well, don't hold that against me. Tabloids print lies.
Louise: Mm. My brother is in politics. I'm aware of how papers are sold.
[dismissive: ]
Louise: It's all lies and sex.
[shakes head]
Louise: Why don't you tell me something about yourself? Something personal, like, uhm... tell me about your mother. Says a lot about a man's character how he gets along with his mama.

Emily: Death is a thief, It takes and keeps all that a person is, that a person was. And when death takes from us someone as extraordinary as Amanda, it takes with it not just her past, but who she was to us every day. Amanda was special but she never had it easy. A childhood torn from her, rough adolescence, and a damning identity that was thrust upon her, which she bore with dignity until she made herself a new name, Amanda Porter. A name that was her own, free from the bonds of history, looking forward to a man who loved her for all her strengths and all her weakness. Amanda, all of us here today embraced you and we love you. We will protect the husband and child that you level behind, the sister that you were just getting to know. and we will greet every new day as a gift, approaching it with the same bravery and determination with which you lived your entire life.

Daniel: [as Emily clambers out of the elevator through the lid above him] If I knew you were that flexible, things might have worked out.

Nolan: [looking at computer screen] Exhibit A, Twitter's debating what people are supposed to call you now. #Amanda or #Emily?
Amanda: Emily Thorne no longer exists.
Nolan: It's the end of an era.

Emily: [to Victoria, in the cemetery] I should kill you right now. I'd get away with it. No one would miss you. No one would mourn you. You destroy everyone who gets close.

Charlotte: It's so much more than that.
Victoria: It's okay. I'm here now. Charlotte, tell me everything.
[Charlotte sits down, and Victoria closes door]
Victoria: Charlotte...?
Charlotte: Emily Thorne is Amanda Clarke. And she's been lying about it this whole time.
Victoria: How did you learn of this?
Charlotte: She told me. Either out of guilt, or shame, or... just to torture me. Did you know?
Victoria: I suspected for some time. I wanted to get confirmation and find the right time before I told you, but when I confronted her, she denied it. But don't you worry. That pathological creature is going to get what she deserves.
Charlotte: And what about me? Will I?
Victoria: What do you mean? What did you do?
Charlotte: [very upset] I tried to kill her. Last night. I went out of my mind... and started a fire. But she survived. And she knows it was me. I have never been more afraid. You don't know what she's capable of.
Victoria: Oh, I do.
Charlotte: She's the one who kidnapped me. And she'll come after me again.
Victoria: I won't let her. You're safe now. You're going to come live with us. And we'll protect you.
Charlotte: We?
Victoria: [proudly] Mm-hmm.
Charlotte: Who else?
Victoria: Your father, Charlotte. Your real father. David Clarke is alive.
[Charlotte looks at her incredulously]

Conrad: I'm gone, like, two days, and Daniel's off the wagon. How'd you let that happen?
Victoria: I had my hands full. Perhaps you can tell me where your hands have been.

Nolan: You're not going anywhere?
Jack: Declan needs me.
Nolan: You're making a colossal mistake.
Jack: You're sure you don't want a drink?
Nolan: Hm. Make it a double. It's gonna be a long fall.

Charlotte: What does it mean when your Mom cancels your birthday?
Amanda: I'd say it's her gift to you.
Charlotte: [giggles at that, then...] I guess being a Grayson just means learning to live with disappointment.
Amanda: You're not a Grayson. Not really.
[causing Charlotte to ponder]

Emily: [opening voiceover] As Hamlet said to Ophelia, "God has given you once face, and you make yourself another." The battle between these two halves of identity... who we are and who we pretend to be... is unwinnable.

Jack: [inside mysterious cabin] Don't jump to any conclusions.
Charlotte: I'm trying not to, but it's hard.
Jack: Charlotte... David Clarke died in front of a hundred inmates, and even if they were all wrong, why would he wait until now to reach out to his daughter?
Charlotte: Maybe he was afraid.
[picks up page]
Charlotte: This is the same stationery used in those letters.
Jack: Yeah,
[shakes his head]
Jack: but the rest is research. David knew all this information. He wouldn't need to do any of this.
Charlotte: So this really is just some sicko trying to mess with me.
Jack: I'm sorry.
Charlotte: Let's go before he comes home.
[turns and heads for the door, but Jack has another objective]

Charlotte: [voice quivering] Mom?
Victoria: Charlotte? What's wrong?
Charlotte: Some freak just sent me this.
[hands over letter]
Victoria: [sits down, reads] "You're so much like your namesake, it's almost haunting. And I know I said this before, but the day you became a Clarke was one of my proudest moments."
Charlotte: There's no signature. And what does that mean, "I said this before"?
Victoria: I haven't the foggiest. Someone who's trying to scare you?
Charlotte: I don't know, Mom. Amanda once showed me some journals David wrote. And the handwriting is similar. Is there any chance that David is still alive?
Victoria: Charlotte.
[gets up]
Victoria: History has proved that there are always people out there who enjoy haunting this family with the specter of David Clarke.
Charlotte: [anguished] But that letter seemed so sincere...
[shakes her head]
Victoria: Now don't let your imagination run wild. Especially when there are far lovelier things to think about.
[smiles, takes her daughter's hand]
Charlotte: [sees ring] You're engaged!
Victoria: Mm-hmm.
Charlotte: That was fast!
[both laugh]
Victoria: I hope one day your heart knows such certainty.
[hugs Charlotte]
Victoria: Oh, sweetie.
Charlotte: Congratulations.
Victoria: So you see why we shouldn't let anything rattle us?
Charlotte: Give me that. I'll get rid of it.
[paper rustles]
Victoria: No.
[takes it]
Victoria: I don't want you to spend another second with such an evil prank.
[leaves with letter]

Emily: I wasn't expecting to see you here, Victoria.
Victoria: Well, I can only hope it comes as a terrible disappointment to you.

Daniel: Dear dad, my whole life I've been told I was destined for greatness based solely of the virtue of my name. I was taught sacrifice was for the foolish, survival was all that mattered. But now I find myself in the crossroads, and I must decide what I believed to be true. There is no such thing as destiny. Legacies must be earned by the choices we make. I now know that we write our own endings, and we can either choose to hide as villains, or live as heroes.

Nolan: You never cease to amaze and... terrify me, maestro.

Emily: [closing voiceover] Power can be hoarded by the mighty, or stolen from the innocent. Power provides the ability to choose... but has a proclivity for corruption. The use of power is not to be taken lightly... for it is never without consequence.

Charlotte: I had no idea your father was coming back with you.
Margaux: He wasn't supposed to.
Charlotte: Well, his arrival is burning up the gossip line. Everyone wants to know who Pascal LeMarchal will bring with him to the opera tomorrow. How do you want me to handle it?
Margaux: [chuckles] There's nothing to handle. He'll be gone before the curtain rises.

Charlotte: I can't believe I'm gonna be an aunt again. I'm sure it will be a little girl. And just think, she and Carl will grow up together, play on the beach. I'm sure they'll be best friends.
Emily: [without enthusiasm] Sounds wonderful.
Charlotte: I'm gonna go check and make sure my folks are here, and give you some time alone.
[starts to go]
Emily: [sighs deeply] Charlotte.
[pulls her back]
Emily: I love you.
Charlotte: I love you, too, my almost sister.
[chuckles, they kiss]

Emily: [closing voiceover] My father wrote "Always question where your loyalties lie. The people you trust will expect it, your greatest enemies will desire it, and those you treasure the most will, without fail, abuse it." Some say loyalty inspires boundless hope. And while that may be, there is a catch. True loyalty takes years to build. And only seconds to destroy.

Conrad: [to Charlotte, who said she's proud of him] You can't imagine what it's like for me to hear that. I'm proud of you too, kitten, especially after everything you've been through.

Lydia: I'd be dead, if it wasn't for your wife's momentary lapse of evil.

Nolan: Well bros before hos only works if he's not still in love with the ho, bro.

Emily: Victoria was lying about working with the government to bring down Conrad. Whatever she's planning, it has to involve Charlotte somehow.
Nolan: Well, unfortunately Charlotte's in lock-down at Dr. Doom's sober house.

Conrad: [grabbing Victoria] If you'd answered my calls, you'd know Charlotte's been abducted!

Nolan: Unpleasant? Pshaw. Isn't it every man's dream to give over 49 percent of his company to a hostile conglomerate?

Mason: You know, it's amazing what you can find when you know what you're looking for.

Charlotte: Ugh, don't talk to me about overexposure. You saw the video of me and my friend Regina.
Emily: Yes, I did. What were you thinking?
Charlotte: I wasn't. I keep wishing Amanda were here. She'd know what I was going through.

Victoria: Emily, dear, that extravagant ring on your finger does not give you permission to flit in and out of my house without good reason.
Emily: [chuckles] I was here to ask Charlotte to be my maid of honor.
[far away, front doorbell rings]
Emily: She's really so excited to see Paris.
Victoria: She's already seen it. Multiple times.
Emily: I would assume that you of all people would appreciate the City of Lights, Victoria.
[door opens]
Emily: After all, isn't that where you attended art school all those years ago?
[door closes]

Jack: [regarding Nolan's house-warming party] I wasn't planning on going, actually.
Charlotte: Jack! You have to. When is the last time you got out? And Margaux's new in town. She needs to meet new people. You'd be doing her a favor.
Margaux: A rather huge one, actually.
Jack: I'm not really looking to date right now.
Margaux: [shaking her head] Who said anything about dating? You can pick me up at six.

Sara: Listen, uh... I really appreciate everything you've done for me, but... things aren't working out.
[returns Stowaway work outfit]
Sara: Tell Jack I'm sorry.
Charlotte: Is this because of Daniel?
Sara: [scoffs] Am I that obvious?
[tearfully: ]
Sara: I still love him, Charlotte. I know he's getting married in two days. You're the maid of honor, and you probably think I'm awful. I... I don't even know what I'm saying. I was trying to quit.
Charlotte: And I'm not gonna let you. I've always thought you two belonged together. Maybe Daniel just needs a little push.
Sara: Oh, trust me.
[little laugh]
Sara: It's too late. He's already made up his mind.
Charlotte: Let me be the judge of that.
[smiles, goes off]

Emily: [opening voiceover] In its purest form, a union becomes part of our very essence. But when that bond is broken... our essence is forever changed.

Emily: [opening voiceover] My father's false imprisonment taught me in that in a crisis, you quickly find out who your real friends are. Tragedy and scandal, it seems, have a unique way of clarifying people's priorities.

Charlotte: [grand reopening arrangements] Declan! Let's see, I can wipe ketchup bottles, or... I can try to make swans out of paper napkins.
Declan: What, what about your parents' wedding?
Charlotte: I'll catch the next one.
Declan: [laughs] Okay.

Emily: [closing voiceover] Duress impacts relationships in one of two ways. It either tears people apart... or strengthens their connection, binding them tightly in a common objective.

Emily: [opening voiceover] For those who believe in resurrection, death is inconsequential. It's not an ending, but rather a new beginning... a second chance. A reunion.
Kara: [driving, singing along with car radio, slapping steering wheel rhythmically, looking over to her earnest little daughter on passenger seat] Come on. My voice isn't that bad.
5: Daddy said you were sick.
Kara: [smiles] I'm all better now that I'm with you.
5: Where is Daddy?
Kara: Oh, don't worry, baby.
[reaching over to her]
Kara: We're on vacation!
[child laughs]
Emily: [voiceover continuing] But the very idea of resurrection is so seductive a concept, it's easy to forget before you can rise from the dead...
Victoria: [nightmare vision] ... you have to spend a few days in hell!

Emily: [closing voiceover] They say grief occurs in five stages. First, there's denial, followed by anger. Then comes bargaining, depression, and acceptance. But grief is a merciless master. Just when you think you're free, you realize you never stood a chance.

Victoria: Who knew you to be such a Florence Nightingale?
Emily: Oh, there's so much you don't know about me, Victoria.
Victoria: [coos] Oh, I'm learning more and more each day.

Emily: I need your help.
Charlotte: Why would I ever help you?
Emily: Our problems are not the issue right now. Our father is. Please... I need to see him alone.
Charlotte: Why don't you just scale the building, knock down the door? I doubt a little police barricade can stop you.
Emily: I would do that, but that's not exactly how I wanna reunite with our father.
Charlotte: Oh, I get it. You want me to pave the way for your triumphant return.
[goes to elevator]
Charlotte: I think I'll pass.
[presses button]
Emily: Are you sure you want to side with your mother on this? Who do you think was behind the attack today?
Charlotte: [angrily] No. She loves David. She would never hurt him.
[enters elevator]
Emily: Charlotte, you and I both know that your mother will do whatever it takes to get what she wants. Including putting our father's life at risk. She is manipulating him. God, Charlotte, she took him to what was supposed to be my grave. Do you know how painful that must have been for him? We have to stop her. Please... I just wanna tell him the truth.
[elevator door closes between them, but clearly, this has struck home with Charlotte]

Victoria: Don't let them see your weakness. That's the first thing they'll use against you.

Louise: What is that stage of grief when you wanna throttle someone?

Emily: Nolan, we don't call the police.
Nolan: Why not? Oh... because maybe the henchman wasn't working for Victoria alone. Maybe Little Arson Annie was behind this, too.
[makes a face]
Nolan: She's not my sister.
Emily: I promised to help Charlotte. I'm not going to sic the cops on her.
Nolan: What? So she gets another spin on the murder wheel? How many?

Emily: I fear I'm losing control.
Satoshi: As you were warned, revenge is a stony path. Remember, inside the viper's nest, you must be a viper, too. How can I be of service?

Conrad: [on phone, as Charlotte enters his office] No, no, no. I don't need to think about it. My answer is no.
[puts down phone]
Conrad: You, on the other hand, I'm glad I said yes to.
Charlotte: These are the reports you wanted, but I didn't have access to some of the financials you asked for.
Conrad: Oh, that's all right, sweetheart, I can get those myself.
Charlotte: Who was that on the phone?
Conrad: No one who would interest you.
Charlotte: Try me.
Conrad: That was a representative from a hedge fund interested in buying my stake in Voulez at an amateurishly inflated price.
Charlotte: Then why say no?
Conrad: Because, my dear, you can't put a price tag on working alongside your own daughter. And my interest in this endeavor is just starting to pique. Now, as Voulez's emissary at today's art walk, I need to go home and slip into something more creative.
Charlotte: Daddy, please don't start calling the South Fork home. It makes me sad.
Conrad: Oh, really? Well, I'm the happiest I've been in ages.

Conrad: [to Victoria, still alive] So it's true? Even the devil himself didn't want you.

Victoria: Why on earth did you invite that girl back into our house?
Charlotte: Because I care about Daniel too much to see him marrying the wrong woman. And I don't think Emily's the one to make him happy.
Victoria: You know I concur in spades, but that doesn't explain the need to trot in somebody off the rack.
Charlotte: Wake up, Mother. I'm sure Daniel still has feelings for Sara, and she still has feelings for him. They just need help remembering that.
[nods]
Victoria: So you think that Sara would be the one who would put a stop to this wedding?
Charlotte: [scoffs] Well, if you weren't so focused on hating Emily and were more focused on worrying about Daniel, you might see it, too.

Tyler: Side out, bitch.

Emily: [closing voiceover] Chaos, by its very definition, cannot be controlled. Once introduced, all order and intention is rendered useless. The outcome of chaos can never be predicted. The only certainty it brings... is the devastation it leaves in its wake.

Victoria: Did you honestly think I wouldn't notice the gaping hole where ten million dollars used to be? I've seen the bank receipt.
Conrad: I was trying to protect you.
Victoria: The only thing you were trying to protect is your weakness for her.
Conrad: She has the power to expose us, Victoria. I didn't have a choice.
Victoria: You could have called her bluff. After fifteen years of complicity, I don't think Lydia has it in her.
Conrad: Maybe not before you exiled her. But thanks to your handiwork, she no longer has anything to lose. I'd say we got away with a bargain.
[Victoria slaps Conrad]
Victoria: It's because your handiwork we're in this situation in the first place.

Victoria: [at home after her encounter with Emily] Oh, I just love the opera. You never know what performance you're going to get.

Padma: Where are we going?
Nolan: I don't know. I... I can't know.
Padma: Are you saying I may never see you again?
Nolan: It's the only way to ensure the Initiative never finds you. You'll have plenty of cash and substantial bank accounts...
Padma: I don't care about any of that. I can't fly off somewhere and live the rest of my life without you... I love you.
Nolan: And I love you too... so much.

Victoria: Do you think I enjoy watching him suffer?
Charlotte: Then why not just tell him the truth? That's all Emily wants to do.

Emily: For the truly wronged, real satisfaction can only be found in one of two places: absolute forgiveness, or mortal vindication. This is not a story about forgiveness.

Louise: You're my knight in Versace armor, right?
Nolan: Hmm.
Louise: [pretend-chuckle] And thank you for being completely honest with me.
[sighs, swims away, very unhappy]

Jack: This morning you told me to put all this behind me and now you want me to stake out a bank?
Nolan: No, I want my friend back. And you want answers which you clearly are not gonna get here. So. Best case scenario, you find Amanda, she tells you the whole story and it turns out to be one big Shakespearean misunderstanding. Worst case, turns out you've been wasting your time with a career grifter and potentially murderer. Just sayin'.

[last lines]
Aiden: As much as I hate to say it, shouldn't you be with Daniel right about now?
Emily: I was. Daniel's pushing me to define our relationship.
[Emily places Daniel's engagement ring on the table]
Aiden: What, are you asking me for my permission?
Emily: I don't know.
Aiden: Well, this was your plan all along, wasn't it? Rip the golden boy away from his family, tear the Graysons apart from the inside? Leave them broken, powerless.
Emily: Yes.
Aiden: Well, then tell me this one thing. When this is all over, when... when they've paid for what they did to your father, then what?
Emily: I can be with you.
Aiden: [picking up the ring and putting it on Emily's finger] Then marry the son of a bitch. And take them down, once and for all.

David: [to Emily] I was very clear with you. I said stay out of this Malcolm Black business, but you didn't! Now you're gonna listen! I can't watch Victoria, and I can't have her being alone. This house is a fortress. There's plenty of room for the two of you. So for the time being, you're both gonna stay here. Do you understand?
[Emily nods]
David: Good. Play nice.
[Emily scoffs, he leaves, the two women give baleful glances at each other]

Nolan: Fire and Ice. Subtle. Fire and brimstone wasn't available?

Nolan: [approaching Emily and Aiden] Sacrificial lamb, reporting for the slaughter. I wasn't expecting an actual firing squad.

Louise: Now are you sure you're not from the South? 'Cause you take care of your friends like family.
Nolan: My friends are my family.
[taking: ]
Nolan: Cheers.
[offering: ]
Nolan: Hair of the dog.
Louise: Oh, you are a bad influence, boy.
Nolan: Me? I'm sure afternoons at the convent didn't earn you the title of the black sheep of the Ellis family. I bet you were wild.
Louise: Mm, from the bowels of hell, according to Mama. Yeah, she always liked my brother better than me. Called me all sorts of sluts and unstable before sending me away. Tell you what, you never forget your first mental institution. But I did self-medicate with my share of hot, nutty boys.
Nolan: Your words, my life!
Louise: My father always wrote me letters.
Nolan: I remember reading about your Dad. He drank himself to death?
Louise: Mm. That's the story we tell.
[catches herself]
Louise: You know what?
[exhales]
Louise: I think I'm gonna be late for my facial. Will you call me later?

Emily: [as he wakes up next to her] Hi.
Daniel: How is it possible for you to wake up looking this good?
Emily: It isn't. You're just half asleep.
Daniel: Come here. I like this dream.

Charlotte: Yeah, the thing about the funeral...
Louise: Oh, I'm so sorry, I overstepped. You would like to plan it.
Charlotte: [shakes head] No. It's that I'm not going, let alone planning one. I don't know which Victoria Grayson you met, but mine was the most manipulative human I've ever known.
Louise: You don't mean that. You're clearly in shock. Or... or denial.

Emily: I've retraced every step Amanda made. The computer's nowhere to be found.
Nolan: Well, nothing's pinged on my end, so no one's turned the computer on, which means the Graysons don't have it, either. And they may be losing Daniel, too.
Emily: What do you mean?
Nolan: Well, he came over here in person to tell me to destroy Carrion. Threatened to break my digital kneecaps if I didn't comply.
Emily: He's having a crisis of conscience.
Nolan: Or maybe he's just freaked out to realize he's actually got one.

Emily: For the innocent, the past may hold a reward... But for the treacherous, it's only a matter of time before the past delivers what they truly deserve.

Trask: Bold move you made today. It will have repercussions.
Daniel: My colleague got ahead of himself.
Trask: And you, it would seem.
Daniel: Listen, I'll get your money back, Mr. Trask. There's no need to hurt anyone, all right?
Trask: Why should I do such a thing?
Daniel: [pulling out the photograph of him and Emily at lunch and a pair of bullets] Maybe to back up a threat? Like the one you made to me and my girlfriend.
Trask: Since you seem to know who we are, you should understand that we don't threaten in two dimensions. We act in three.

Emily: [opening voiceover] They say the best-laid plans often go awry. Because no matter how detailed the preparation, a plan will always have a weak point. And there will always be those looking to exploit it... to doom a plan to failure, and the perpetrator along with it.

Margaux: [as they leave courtroom] Emily, you started this. Whatever happens to Jack, is on your hands.

Brunette: [as Charlotte stands eavesdropping outside the door] Bitch had a camera on her and she didn't even know it? I cannot believe you are dating this idiot.
Gideon: I know. Not as hot as you are, of course.
Brunette: Clearly, or you wouldn't be texting me every minute she's not around.
[laughs]
Gideon: She's like a cash machine for my blow.
Charlotte: [entering] Are you kidding me? You've been using me and sleeping with her?
Gideon: Charlotte, we were just...
Charlotte: [tearfully] Save it. I thought you cared...
Gideon: Of course I do, babe, but... I mean, we partied. I... I... I gave you some advice... I was never your boyfriend.
Brunette: [disdainful] She's even more pathetic than I thought.
[gets viciously slapped]
Gideon: [calling after her as she storms out:] Charlotte! Babe!

Emily: [opening voiceover] In the art of war, if you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the approaching battles. But if you know only yourself and not your enemy... for every victory, there will also be defeat.

Emily: [bearing gift] I wanted to leave this at your parents' wedding before...
Daniel: Before the whole thing went to hell?
[she sighs]
Daniel: Mom and Dad will be very touched,
[smiles]
Daniel: assuming it is not ticking.

Jack: [sadness caused by the wedding video] It's okay, Charlotte.
Charlotte: [shaking her head] I still can't believe they're gone. And now Dad's dying. How can such bad things happen to good people?

Charlotte: I still don't see why were here. If my father wants to rehab his image, he can do it himself.
Bizzy: I've already educated him on re-branding and how you are all an extension of his good name.
Charlotte: I'm a Clarke.
Bizzy: Whoever you are. That whole slumming-it-in-Montauk thing. Gold. People love it when the rich help the poor.

Nolan: Welcome home, Amanda.

Nolan: Oh, Judge Miller, your reputation precedes you, Sir. I would say it's a pleasure, but my mother taught me not to lie. Now, if you'll excuse me.
[turns away, goes off]

Satoshi: You've already failed to kill the murderer of your father. Who's to say he won't come for you again?
Emily: I'm counting on it, Takeda. He might be the only person left who knows what happened to her.
Satoshi: You would throw away your training on the unsupported assumption that your mother remains alive.
Emily: Dead or alive, I'm gonna find out what happened to her, and when I do... God help the people who kept me from her, and that includes you.

Emily: When deception cuts this deep, someone has to pay.

Pascal: [sees Victoria wearing the designer dress he brought her] I knew you couldn't resist.
Victoria: Well, fine art's meant to be displayed.
Pascal: And appreciated.
Victoria: Keep your distance, Pascal. This dress might touch my body, but you'll never be so lucky.
[slinks off with a grin]

Emily: [opening voiceover] A person's true identity can often be difficult to discern... even to themselves. Causing one to question their character, their calling, their very existence. For most, time provides clarity. But for others, these questions remain unanswered. For an identity cannot be fully defined, when it is a guarded secret.

Gordon: I trust you had a pleasant nap, Miss Clarke. Rather than waste my time on a wild goose chase, I thought I'd give you the opportunity to tell me where you've hidden Grayson's evidence. In return, I may even let your friend here live.
Emily: Actually, he doesn't concern me.
Nolan: [sarcastically] Gee, don't surgarcoat it, Ems.
Gordon: Well, if that's the case, I take back my offer.
[Murphy advances on Nolan with a scalpel in hand]
Emily: The evidence that you want is in locker 428 at the Port Authority bus terminal. The orange key from my keychain will open it.
Gordon: If that's true, what's to stop me from killing you right now?
Emily: I could be lying.
Nolan: She's really quite good at it.

Emily: [closing voiceover] To successfully create illusion, the first thing you need is trust. But to perfect an illusion, the false reality must appear as authentic as the one it hides. Careful attention must be paid to every detail. The slightest of imperfections can, like a pin to a balloon, burst the illusion. And the truth behind the illusion becomes revealed.

Louise: I'm sorry about that. Sometimes I just can't stop my lips from flapping.

Nolan: Hey Nolan, this one time at revenge camp, I met this fellow avenger and guess where he's going to be summering?

Emily: [opening voiceover] If we choose to, we can live in a world of comforting illusion. We can allow ourselves to be deceived by false realities... or we can use them to hide our true intentions.

Victoria: All men are born hardwired to betray. It's just a question of when.

Emily: [closing voiceover] Over time, we commit acts with intentions, either good or bad, that require forgiveness.

Emily: [driving] If you want, I could wait for you while you talk to your mother, drive you home after. Assuming you're going back to the Hamptons.
[Charlotte's mulling events over]
Emily: Or you're welcome to stay with me.
Charlotte: That's really nice, Emily. But the truth is my mother and I are supposed to leave the country. She wants to start a new life, change our names, just disappear. Only now that my father has drained my bank accounts, I don't know what we're going to do.
Emily: I don't think that Victoria will care about the money as long as she has you.

Emily: [opening voiceover] In every life, there comes a day of reckoning, a time when unsettled scores demand their retribution. And our own lies and transgressions are finally laid bare.

Louise: [shaking head] How could Nolan have such faith in me when I had no faith in myself?
Emily: 'Cause that's who Nolan is.

Emily: [closing voiceover] In order to regain control, we sometimes must relinquish it. By doing so, we believe we are protecting the ones we love. The ones we cannot live without. But the most dangerous truth of all is that control is merely an illusion.

Conrad: [as hostage returns] Oh, my God. Charlotte? Oh, my God! How did you get here? We need to get you to a hospital. Charlotte...
[checks to see how she was mutilated]
Conrad: Your ear.
[but all is fine]
Charlotte: [shrugs off his hands] "The naïve deserve two things: swindling and scorn." That's what you always say, isn't it? How much do you hate me, then? Because I've been pretty damn naïve until now. You're too blame for Flight 197.

Nolan: [back-flash] Trust me.
Amanda: I am. With my life.

Amanda: How do I look? Under-medicated.

[first lines]
Emily: When I was a little my understanding of revenge was as simple as the Sunday school proverbs it hid behind. Neat little morality slogans, like 'Do unto others' and 'Two wrongs don't make a right.' But two wrongs can never make a right because two wrongs can never equal each other. For the truly wronged real satisfaction can only be found in one of two places absolute forgiveness or mortal vindication. This is not a story about forgiveness."

Victoria: Trust is the one luxury I cannot afford.

Charlotte: I'm rich. You're not. Who cares?

Lydia: I"m really gonna enjoy remodelling Grayson manor. I always thought this room could use a splash of color.
[pours her glass of red wine over Victoria's hallowed wing chair]

Nolan: I don't think my employees have any respect for me.
Emily: Why would they? You're not wearing pants.
Nolan: Well, I mean, they don't know that. You know, I once did a video interview with Katie Couric butt-naked in my jacuzzi. She had no idea.

Emily: [opening voiceover] They say vengeance taken will tear the heart and torment the conscience. If there's any truth to it, then I now know with certainty that the path I'm on is the right one.

Emily: [closing voiceover] Revelations can help us accept the things we need the most. Expose the secrets we so desperately try to hide. And illuminate the dangers all around us. But more than anything, revelations are windows into our true selves... both the good and the evil. And those wavering somewhere in between... with the ultimate power to destroy all that we cherish most.

Newscaster: All five New York City boroughs and additional outlying areas have been completely powerless for going on five hours. Thus far, authorities are at a loss to explain how multiple power grids, in addition to numerous communication networks could have all failed at once...
Nolan: Carrion.
Aiden: But I thought the only person with the ability to activate the program was the Falcon. How could she do that if she's behind bars?
Emily: She didn't have to. You did it for her.
Nolan: Emily's right. The Falcon must have altered Carrion so that when we hacked the Amanda Clarke Foundation...
Aiden: It triggered the chain reaction.
Emily: And she made sure that you used Aiden's administration code to set everything in motion. Everything that we did to prevent this...
Aiden: Will now prove that I caused it.
Nolan: And we don't even know what they're going to do while the lights are out. This could be catastrophic!
Emily: Aiden, you need to go dark.
Aiden: No, I can take care of this...
Emily: [interrupting] No, you listen to me. I have been through this before. I'm not gonna sit back and watch the Initiative turn you into their next David Clarke.

Nolan: I have to know... how did you do it? How'd you get your hands on a sex tape?
Emily: I bought the building that his mistress lives in. As part of the renovations, I had cameras installed.
Nolan: Uh... wow. That's commitment. And now?
Emily: I release the videos to the press.
Nolan: Why? You already got what you wanted, you destroyed a man's career.
Emily: I want to destroy his life. If he had done the right thing, he would have saved my father. He chose not to, so down he goes.

Charlotte: Hey. I thought you'd be getting Carl by now.
Jack: So did I.
[places stuffed toy back into crib]
Jack: But now I'm not so sure. This whole thing with Emily has really... has really gotten to me.
Charlotte: Yeah. Me, too. I've been trying to help her, but the weirdest thing just happened.
Jack: What?
Charlotte: Emily said she remembered her father. And when I asked what his name was, she said 'David Clarke.'
Jack: [covering] Well, I mean, she probably saw you... and then got mixed up.
Charlotte: Maybe. She seemed so sure of it. It freaked me out.
Jack: Charlotte, uhm, I think it might help if I see Emily.
[gets skeptical look]
Jack: Look, she's obviously confused, I think I can help her remember that she's Emily Thorne and not... someone else.

Conrad: Congratulations, Victoria. With one bullet, you've slaughtered us all.

Charlotte: [as Daniel looks in on Emily in Intensive Care] You've spent more time out in this hall than in there with her.
Daniel: Well, she needs her rest. Even if she were awake, I don't know what I'd say.
Charlotte: Don't beat yourself up, Daniel. None of this is your fault. I checked on Sara.
Daniel: Wha...
Charlotte: She's okay.
[he sighs with relief]
Charlotte: And don't worry, Emily will get better. She will pull through. I know the police talked to you about Mom. They asked me, too.
Daniel: Well, she... she's innocent, Charlotte.
Charlotte: I don't think she is. No one does.

Nolan: [to Elena, on massage table] Easy, tiger. Save some of that roar for when they break out the hot stones.

Young: [as she is taken away by social worker, to Sammy, the puppy she has to give up to young Jack] I'll come back for you. I promise.
[crying]
Young: I promise, I'll come back. I'll come back!

Victoria: They said it would take an act of Congress to get you out on bail tonight.
Conrad: No, no. No, all it really took was the Initiative.
Victoria: What did you promise them?
Conrad: I don't think I'll know until it's too late.

Nolan: [to Aiden] You could be my bodyguard... and I could be your Whitney.

Daniel: Is this Marco Romero?
Marco: Who is this? Do you know what time it is?
Daniel: Oh, it's late. My apologies. My name's Daniel Grayson with Grayson Global. I have a business proposition for you. One that involves Nolcorp.
Marco: [his interest piquing] I'm listening.

Jack: Thought you went to school.
Declan: Charlotte flaked on me again. She was supposed to drive me.
Jack: Does it have anything to do with that paparazzi video of her with that girl? Why didn't you talk to me about it, man? I gotta hear about it from a group of barflies? What's going on?
Declan: She's in a really dark place and she's... she has been ever since Amanda...
Jack: She into drugs again?
Declan: I don't know. I don't know, maybe. It's pretty hard for me to tell with her blowing me off every day.
Jack: [Declan takes a handful of bills from the bar's tip jar] What are you...?
Declan: I need money for bus fare.
Jack: How many buses are you taking?

Victoria: [to Emily, in the cage with her] Your words hold no meaning to me any more. It's funny, isn't it? Who would have thought that after all was said and done, you and I would die together?

Charlotte: If I had my wish, that distraction would be over with now. Anyway, I'm out. My mother has summoned the entire family to breakfast to discuss the impending nuptials.
[ironic: ]
Charlotte: I am so looking forward to seeing my father.
Jack: You're not serious.
Charlotte: Actually, while I detest him more than ever, he and I have had a reconciliation of sorts.
[Jack sighs]
Charlotte: It's for a good reason.
Jack: There's no good reason. How did he manipulate you?
Charlotte: He didn't. I manipulated him, and I did it to protect you.

Nolan: What is the Initiative planning to do with Carrion?
Edith: Don't know. Don't care.

Emily: Lydia, hi. How are you? It's been a long time.
Lydia: Not that long. I want my house back.
Emily: Pardon me?
Lydia: This cottage is one of the few things that still connects me to the life that I lost the weekend I met you. I handpicked nearly every piece of decor in this place.
Emily: And your taste is impeccable, which is exactly why I paid double the asking price, to make sure it came fully furnished.
Lydia: I'm contesting the sale. I was technically on the deed and in spite of what you stumbled onto between me and Conrad at the South Fork Inn, my ex-husband had no legal right to sell.
Emily: I'm sorry for what happened to you, Lydia, and I get that you're upset, but the money from the sale should more than compensate for your loss.
Lydia: And what could a girl like you possibly know about loss?
Emily: If you want to give me your new address, I'd be happy to pack up a few things for you and ship them.
Lydia: I'm not here to get my things back. I'm here to get my life back. And no one, least of all a nosy troublemaker with a penchant for turning my world upside down, is gonna get in the way of that. We all have our South Fork Inn, Emily. I just made it my mission to find yours.

Louise: Oh, how I enjoy toying with the weaker sex!

Tyler: Gay? Eh. Hustler? Maybe.

Victoria: Mason Treadwell's blog is front page news, and the damage is already done, but I want to hear it from you. Did you take pills the night of the party?
Charlotte: Declan lied about everything. He saw someone on the beach, same as me.
Victoria: Did you or didn't you?
Charlotte: No, I told you.
Victoria: Charlotte, look at me. You're high right now, aren't you?
Charlotte: So what if I am on drugs? My father's a mass murderer. My half sister is an arsonist. Guess the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree, does it?

Charlotte: Clearly, you hate this dress.
Victoria: Oh, I'm not terribly worried about it, as it will be the last time I ever see it. Your brother needs our protection. He might be smart and ambitious, but he's far too trusting of women.
Charlotte: You say that about anyone he gets serious with. Remember Sara?
Victoria: Well, your brother ensured that I would never forget her. But at least that cocktail waitress is preferable to Emily.
Charlotte: And what has Emily done that's so wrong?
Victoria: You don't know?
[Charlotte shakes her head]
Victoria: She broke their first engagement, and Daniel's heart, over a tryst with your current landlord.
Charlotte: [surprised] Jack?
Victoria: Mm-hmm.
Charlotte: Oh my God.
Victoria: Mm-hmm.
Charlotte: You're digging to see if she truly loves Daniel.
Victoria: Well, it's certainly not for her fashion sense.
[shows her disdain for the dress Emily is supplying]
Charlotte: You know, I did think it was weird that she was at The Stowaway last night, instead of trying to fix things with him.
Victoria: What was Jack's attitude towards her?
Charlotte: I'm pretty sure he's into Margaux.

Charlotte: Don't you think my parents should pay for Jack and Amanda's wedding, considering Amanda never even called a lawyer after cart-wheeling off the second-floor balcony?
[he is occupied spying on the Ryan brothers]
Charlotte: They'd be stupid not to offer.
[no response]
Charlotte: Earth to Declan!
[she pelts him with a peanut on the back of his head]
Charlotte: Come in, Declan!
Declan: Okay. When Nate and Kenny come back in here, I need you to help me do something, okay?
Charlotte: Sure. What?

Nolan: Are you sure you wanna be around Victoria after what just happened at my party?
Emily: It'll be fun to watch her try not to lose it.

Emily: [opening voiceover] Years ago, I met a boy who introduced me to a book, "The Marriage of Heaven and Hell". In it, William Blake writes "If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite." But in reality, our perception is often clouded. By expectations. By experiences. As of late, I find my perception is blinded by only one thing: revenge.

Nolan: Marco! Have you come to collect the knife you left in my back?

Jack: What's all this?
Charlotte: Invitations to the wedding of the century. Maid of honor reporting for duty.
Jack: I thought you weren't into it.
Charlotte: Emily and I have hit a few bumps lately. I'm trying to do the bygones thing because she's marrying my brother in eight weeks. But sometimes, I swear, I think I don't know the real Emily.
[Jack gives an ironic smirk]
Charlotte: So, are you thinking of asking Margaux to the wedding?
Jack: I'm not going to the wedding.
Charlotte: Not going?
Jack: I need a little break from Emily Thorne.

Daniel: [arriving home to find girlfriend there] Emily?
Emily: Hi!
Daniel: Hi! What's going on?
Emily: Honey, your mother invited me over for tea.
Victoria: [at the sight of her son's drenched after-sport physique] Daniel, for God's sake, pull yourself together! You're a sweaty brute!
Daniel: [to Emily] My apologies. Had I known my mother had summoned you, I'd have looked at least 50% less brutish.
Emily: No, it's fine. I should get going, really. I have to work out some issues with my realtor. Things got a little aggressive in our bidding war today.
[picks up cellphone, checks e-mail]
Victoria: [false] Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. Will you be on the hunt for a fallback rental, or are you headed back to the city?
Emily: Actually, as of this e-mail, I have just become the new owner of the beach house.
[causing Victoria obvious disappointment]
Daniel: That's great news. Congratulations.
Emily: Thank you.
Daniel: Now how about I make good on that date and take you out to celebrate?
Emily: That sounds great. How about tomorrow?
Daniel: Yeah, tomorrow's perfect. I know just the place. Come on, I'll walk you out.
Emily: Thank you so much for the tea, Mrs. Grayson. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this.
[Victoria looks at her, contemplating her next move]

Charlotte: [busy behind computer as her brother enters] Hey.
Daniel: Hey. Working hard?
Charlotte: The Voulez gossip tip line has pretty much become a Pascal tracker.
Daniel: Does that mean Emily's dropped off the radar?
Charlotte: Yeah, she's yesterday's news. Though I'll never forget what she did to you.
Daniel: To us. Emily lied to our entire family, Charlotte. Including you.
Charlotte: You'd think she'd just leave town, instead of staying here and making things harder for you.
Daniel: Which is why we're gonna return the favor and go after her friends
Charlotte: We?
[gets up]
Charlotte: I don't know, Daniel.
Daniel: No, no, no, no. Look, look, look. You helped me figure out what Dad was up to. Now, we can put those skills to an even worthier cause.
Charlotte: [smiles, nods] Okay. But Jack isn't involved in all this. I wanna keep it that way.
Daniel: Fine. Porter's off the table.
[kisses her fringe]
Daniel: Okay, I'll see you later.

Louise: She came to pay her respects, but of course, five minutes in, she spun into her usual vitriol, so I threw her out.
[takes sip of wine]
Louise: You know, when we get the baby, we should install a gate that will keep the hyenas from dropping in with store-bought lemon tart.

Mason: [introducing himself to the little girl] Leo Treadwell.
[holds out his hand]
Mason: I'm a journalist. How do you like it here, Amanda?
[no response]
Mason: I'm told that your prior foster home was destroyed by a fire. How terrible.
Young: Sometimes bad things happen to good people.
Mason: Indeed. I'm here because your father says he's innocent, that he didn't do what they're saying.
Young: But they proved it in court.
Mason: Courts have been known to make mistakes. Do you think they made a mistake, Amanda?
Young: [lowers her head, whispering confidentially] I have to say he's guilty, or they'll put me away, just like him.
Mason: I am not gonna let that happen.
Young: [looks around to see if anybody's watching, then takes a chance and retrieves photograph of her Dad from hiding place] I keep this here where they can't find it. I don't think he did it.
Mason: I don't either. How'd you like to help me rescue your father?
Emily: [back in the present, relaying to Nolan] But the book he published might as well have been written by the Graysons. All the same lies. What's worse, is he made me believe them.

Conrad: [on the laptop] Six months ago, Victoria gave birth to a baby girl. Her name is Charlotte. You want proof that I'm telling the truth? Ask her who the father is?

Louise: It's just, everyone has two faces, some more disturbing than others. I mean, you, of all people, would know after what happened with Danny.
Emily: [nods] Yeah.
Louise: Well, just goes to show you can't judge the honey by looking at the bee.

Daniel: Did I tell you how beautiful you look in that dress?
Emily: [amused laugh] Twice, actually.
Daniel: Well, what can I say? Some things are worth repeating.

Charlotte: [knocks] Permission to come aboard?
[he waves her in, and she comes down]
Declan: Charlotte, I'm sorry. I should've called you back, I just...
Charlotte: [puts her arms around him] It's okay. I know you were just trying to keep me out of danger. Now it's my turn to return the favor.
Declan: Amanda told you about the Ryans?
Charlotte: Listen, my Dad said you can come stay at our house until this whole mess is resolved.
Declan: I got to stay put. I got to. No one is coming in here and just ripping away everything my Dad worked so hard to give us. Hey, if Jack and I are going down, it's not going to be without one hell of a fight.

Victoria: [as Charlotte gives laundry to house servant] I see you're still taking advantage of our amenities?
Charlotte: Who was on the phone?
Victoria: Oh, just a little surprise I'm planning for the shower.
Charlotte: Well, since you've suddenly gotten into the spirit of things, maybe you wanna make the welcome toast?
[sighs]
Charlotte: I lost my phone.
Victoria: Which relates how?
Charlotte: Well, I had the speech for Emily saved on there, and I don't have time to re-compose it.
Victoria: Mm.
Charlotte: [playfully taunting] Probably for the best, since I didn't inherit your talent for faking sincerity.
Victoria: It's called being polite. And perhaps we wouldn't have to be if Sara had responded to my appeal. I haven't heard from her all week.
Charlotte: Maybe because she's too busy sneaking around with Daniel. I noticed her texting with him this morning, so whatever carrot you dangled, it seems to be working.
[her mother grins]

Conrad: Have you lost your mind? What the hell kind of stunt are you pulling, showing up at my house?
Lydia: I went to see Victoria. It had nothing to do with you.
Conrad: Nothing to do with me, huh? Victoria is seething.
Lydia: That's exactly why I went. I'm trying to repair the damage that my relationship with you caused our friendship.
Conrad: A friendship that exists only in your imagination, I assure you.
Lydia: She just needs more time. Rather than making this harder, you might want to think about facilitating a détente for the two of us.
Conrad: A détente. Between my wife and my mistress.
[Conrad chuckles in disbelief]
Lydia: If I'm gonna get my life back, then I need Amanda to accept me. And I can't think of a better place than the Open Arms benefit. Get her on board, Conrad. Otherwise...
Conrad: Otherwise what? Another empty threat?
Lydia: Empty? How does this sound? "The Graysons are incredibly powerful, Your Honor. I was intimidated into helping them frame David Clarke, and then threatened by their head of security if I didn't comply. The prosecution rests."
Conrad: You're bluffing.
Lydia: Try me.

Emily: [closing voiceover] From the moment we're born, we're drawn to form a union with others. An abiding drive to connect, to love... to belong. In a perfect union, we find the strength we cannot find in ourselves. But the strength of the union cannot be known until it is tested.

Emily: I don't know what you're talking about. But you should get out. You're not welcome here.
Tyler: [wants the evidence] Give it to me now, you bitch!
[lunges forward at her]
Emily: [shoving him away] Get the hell out of my face! You know the Graysons can't stand you? Leaching off of them all summer, who can blame them? Daniel told me you've always given him the creeps, and even Ashley thinks you're a lying hypocrite. And as for me, well, I've always seen you for exactly what you are.
[while keping him enraged, sneaks Frank's wallet into his coat pocket]
Emily: An impotent little misfit who's gonna spend the rest of his life on the outside looking in.
[turns her back on him disdainfully, starts walking away]
Tyler: [finds handgun and aims it at her back] Emily...

Nolan: I guess sometimes payback's not a bitch. Although I imagine it will be for New York's first and worst family. What do you have on tap?
Emily: A long summer of fun.
Nolan: Beginning with tomorrow's Memorial Day party?
Emily: And if everything goes as planned, it'll be the last one the Graysons ever attend.
[clinks Nolan's glass with devilish smile]

Emily: [opening voiceover] Power... born out of nature, coveted by man. Wars rage on, and victors are crowned... But true power can never be lost or won. True power comes from within.

Nolan: Okay, Ems. I can't say you didn't warn me about that tricky little bastard. God, Danny boy really learned how to play dirty.

Charlotte: [after David leaves] Everything you told him wasn't true.
Victoria: I told him no lies.
Charlotte: But isn't the real me good enough?
Victoria: Oh, Charlotte. I wish you could see what I see. That the real you is better than even you know. Oh, you're running on fumes, darling. Lie down. Get some rest. Come here.
[cradles Charlotte's head on her lap]

Nolan: [in bar] You're playing with some serious fire here, Missy. My advice? Take the money and ease on down the road.
[sits down next to her]
Amanda: Sorry. I like it here. You know, she told me about you. Said you used to visit her father in jail like a demented stalker.
Nolan: In case you hadn't noticed, she wants you gone. And when Emily wants somebody gone, believe me, they go. And usually in spectacular fashion.
Amanda: In case you haven't noticed, I do things on my own terms. If Emily wants me gone, she might have to consider the ripple effect.
[gets up, saunters off confidently, leaving him to his drink]

Regina: You sure know how to hit a bitch.
Charlotte: [folding her arms] Looking for round two?
Regina: Relax. It's a compliment. So, you're "Overachieving Ivy Leaguer" now? Last year weren't you "Spoiled, angry party girl"? Which one is the real Charlotte Grayson?
Charlotte: It's Clarke. What do you want, Regina?
Regina: A simple answer. When you took all those pills last year, were you really trying to kill yourself?
Charlotte: What the hell kind of question is that?
[turns away]
Regina: The kind I wish I could ask my brother. He did the same thing last summer.
[Charlotte turns back]
Regina: Swallowed, like, half a pharmacy. I was just wondering what he was feeling... before he died.
Charlotte: [shakes her head sadly] That really sucks.
Regina: You wanna get out of here?
[Charlotte is keen]

Victoria: [to Ashley] I can handle anyone who operates in subterfuge, present company included.

Emily: [opening voiceover] There's an old saying about those who cannot remember the past being condemned to repeat it. But those of us who refuse to forget the past are condemned to relive it.

Dr. Jeffrey Thomas: [at Cliffside recovery center] Just three more questions, Charlotte.
[reading: ]
Dr. Jeffrey Thomas: Do your thoughts often feel clouded or confused?
Charlotte: Not since I stopped using, and I have stopped using. The blood test was wrong.
Dr. Jeffrey Thomas: [unhindered] Do you believe that you can see or hear things others cannot?
Charlotte: [thinly-veiled impatience] No one else seems to see that my father is holding me here against my will.
[sharply: ]
Charlotte: Does that count?
Dr. Jeffrey Thomas: I'm more concerned with the fictitious person that gave you the disposable phone I found hidden in your bedroom.
Charlotte: Just read the last question.
Dr. Jeffrey Thomas: [forcing a fake smile] Do you believe others are plotting against you?
[she is at a loss to answer that, as her obvious answer would keep her locked up]

Emily: [opening voiceover] Darkness scares us. We yearn for the comfort of light, as it provides shape and form, allowing us to recognize, to define what's before us. But what is it we're afraid of, really? Not the darkness itself, but the truth we know hides within.

Jack: What brings you by?
Charlotte: [comes forward, opens handbag] You're gonna think I'm crazy.
[hands over letter]
Jack: [opens, reads, frowns] Who wrote this?
Charlotte: I have a guess.
Jack: [shakes his head] It can't be David.
Charlotte: Well, Amanda had some journals with his handwriting, so it can't hurt to check, right?
Jack: Charlotte... your father is dead. This is obviously just some jerk messing with your head.
Charlotte: Yeah, my mother said the same thing. And then I found these in her vanity. Two more letters. Why would she hide them and then lie to my face about it?
Jack: Who knows why she does anything?
Charlotte: Please, can I just see the journals?
Jack: I don't know what Amanda showed you, but I don't have anything.
[shakes his head]
Charlotte: Then I guess I'll have to confront my Mom about it, because... I just have this feeling.
[turns, leaves]
Jack: [sighs] Hang on.
[she turns back]
Jack: I think I can help you.

Nolan: You crossed the line, Emily. How could you do that to me?
Emily: If you mean that recording of you and Tyler, you'll thank me one day I did you a favor.
Nolan: But I trusted you.
Emily: You can't build trust on secrets, Nolan. You should know that by now.

Emily: Is it true?
[confronts him]
Emily: You set the fire?
Eli: [nods] Yes. The one you lit, burnt out. So I restarted it. But only to get you in trouble. I didn't know how out of control it would get, but... just that it was a matter of time before a family adopted you out. I mean, we had a pact to stay together.
Emily: [eyes blazing] Do you have any idea what lighting that fire did? My whole life could have been different, Eli.
Eli: It was selfish, I know, and I'm sorry. But I'm trying to make it up to you now.
Emily: The only way to do that is to leave. And if you even think about exposing my identity...
Eli: I would never do that to you. Look, I'm trying to make things right between us. You'll see.

Sara: [relaxing by pool, in bikini, chatting on phone] I'd love to go to Aunt Gina's jewelry party. Just, the thing is, work has me slammed right now. Ma, please don't say I'm blowing you off.
[Emily appears]
Sara: Uh, look, I gotta hop. A customer's giving me the stink-eye. Yeah.
Emily: It's one thing to deliver a wake-up call to my husband and his mistress, but I have too much self-respect to watch you lounge by our pool. You have to go now.
Sara: Well, Daniel asked me to stay, and I'm sticking by him.
Emily: I won't let you destroy my marriage.
Sara: Don't you think this is sad, Emily? For you, I mean. He doesn't love you.
Emily: Oh, that's a cheap shot, Sara.
[smiles, sits down next to her]
Emily: I'm trying to handle this with dignity.
Sara: After pulling the most pathetic stunt ever? Faking a pregnancy to lock a guy down.
[looks away in disdain]
Emily: Daniel's pushing his boundaries with me.
Sara: Hmm.
Emily: And after the pain I caused him, it's understandable. Right now, your earthiness is what's catching his eye. But you don't fit in here.
Sara: Hmm. I'm actually proud of that.
Emily: Until people find out about you and start judging him.
Sara: Because I'm trash? Is that what you're saying?
[as: ]
Sara: Excuse me? A glass of Cristal please.

Emily: You know that Daniel would have wanted me at his funeral.
Victoria: Maybe. But we'll never know, will we?
[turns to leave, and Emily shakes her head]

Emily: It's kind of fun being your wing-man.
[chuckles]
Nolan: I taught you well, Grasshopper.

Declan: Hey, do you know why you're supposed to bury a politician a hundred feet down? 'Cause deep down, they're really good people.

Nolan: [regarding the portrait of Victoria at her tribute] Creepy. You think she's somewhere looking up at us?

Emily: [closing voiceover] Justice, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Some see an innocent victim. Others will see evil incarnate getting exactly what's deserved.

Daniel: Come on, give me a reason. And I want to know the truth!
Emily: [furious] How dare you demand the truth? You're right, Daniel, I'm not an idiot. I know exactly what happened this morning.
Daniel: And this was in retaliation? Did you stop for a second to think why I helped my father?
Emily: Does it matter? It's disgusting!
[he scoffs and turns away]
Emily: I thought you were better than Conrad, but you're just as wrapped up in his lies.
Daniel: Yeah, right, 'cause you're such an open book.
[she slings her bag over her shoulder]
Daniel: Where are you going?
Emily: I'm not doing this.
Daniel: You walk out that door and I'm not gonna be here when you get back.
Emily: Then don't forget to turn on the alarm.

Conrad: [as they scan Emily approaching] The return of the vivacious and elusive Ms. Emily Thorne. It's never too late to reconcile, you know.
Daniel: Never gonna happen, Dad.
Conrad: Why not? Come on, she's a much more suitable match than the delightful if frothy little confection Ashley Davenport.
Daniel: Yeah, well, at least Ashley's smart enough not to cheat on me.
Conrad: Is she now?
[knowing something Daniel doesn't]

Nolan: Hmm. When does everything ever go right for the host of a Hamptons party with you on the guest list?
Emily: [looking back] I heard that.
Nolan: 'Course you did.

Nolan: The more things you try to control, the more chance for error.

Nolan: Ah, ambiguous sexual identity. I get it. I'm about a... 3 on the Kinsey scale myself.

Emily: [opening voiceover] For the average person leading an ordinary life, fame holds an hypnotic attraction. Many would soon perish than exist in anonymity. But for the unlucky few who've had notoriety forced upon them, infamy can be a sentence more damning than any prison term.

Daniel: [as Charlotte pretends to ignore him] Look, I get why you're mad, okay, but this silent treatment's lasted three days. And now that I'm back at Voulez, I want you there, too.
Charlotte: You used me to turn Margaux against Jack.
Daniel: I just tried to get you both to see the light about that guy. I'm sorry for the way I did it... all right?
Charlotte: Just so you know, your little plan didn't work. I'm helping Jack with his move.
Daniel: Char, I'm not making this up, okay? You know how tight he is with Emily. Tell me you've never wondered what their connection is.
[chuckles]
Charlotte: I don't care. Carl's my nephew. And Jack has been nothing but nice to me.
Daniel: And what if you're blindly defending the man who is helping Emily demolish this family? Could you ever forgive yourself?
[Charlotte considers this]

Emily: [opening voiceover] They say let he who is without sin cast the first stone. And to be without sin requires absolute forgiveness. But when your memories are freshly opened wounds, forgiveness is the most unnatural of human emotions.

Jack: I don't think that Conrad and Allison are having an affair. Is she even his type?
Ashley: [nods knowingly] She's a woman.
Jack: Something else is going on. But what could it be?
Ashley: I couldn't say, but after years spent in the revolving door of Grayson Manor, I do know one thing. Conrad has a tell. It betrays when he's lying.
Jack: He opens his mouth?

Daniel: You never sent me the report I asked for detailing your abandoned R&D.
Nolan: Yeah. Guess I kind of forgot about it.
Daniel: No, see, I don't think you did. I think you don't want me to know about Carrion, and you'd rather get fired than tell me what it does.
Nolan: Let's see if you're right. Fire me.
Daniel: [whispering] Nolan, if I find out you've done anything other than destroy that program, I won't just fire you. I will cripple you with lawsuits and make sure you never write another line of code again. You got it?
Nolan: Control, alt, delete. Got it.

Charlotte: Jack, you helped me by opening up my eyes to the truth about my father. So I'm trying to help you.
Jack: Help me what?
Charlotte: See that you stopped living. You take care of Carl and the bar, but not yourself.
[he sighs]
Charlotte: Amanda would want you to enjoy life. So would Declan. You know what he said to me once? He said "a ship is safe in the harbor, but that's not why ships were built."
Jack: I'll bet he told you he made that up.
Charlotte: He didn't.
[he chuckles, and she laughs]
Charlotte: Regardless, you need to go out. And the beauty of going with Margaux is she doesn't know everything we've been through.
Jack: All right, fine. But I'm measuring my own inseam.

Emily: What have you got?
Nolan: Oh, good news and bad news. Victoria's still alive.
Emily: What's the good news?
Nolan: They're keeping her heavily sedated to monitor the irregular rhythm of her heart. Turns out she has one.

Conrad: There are bonds in this world that cannot be severed. and the bonds forged in the fires of hardship are as strong as the bonds of blood. We New Yorkers are family. Today I am proud to stand amongst you in the midst of what appears to be a cowardly cyber attack. An attack meant to throw our lives into chaos and to make us shrink with fear. But shrink we will not. Because we're New Yorkers. Because we press on. Because we persevere. And we will rise above this.

Frank: [limousine pick-up for Lydia, security chief opening car door for her] Ms. Davis.
Lydia: Thanks for picking me up on the street corner like a prostitute.
Conrad: [on cellphone inside car] Yeah, all right. Don't send anyone through for the next half-hour, Sharon. I'll return calls when I'm back at the office.
Lydia: So you do still return calls.
Conrad: Lydia, I understand, you're upset.
Lydia: I'm not upset.
[hands him a large folder]
Lydia: I'm ruined.
Conrad: What is this?
Lydia: [telephoto lens pictures taken through the window of her secret liaison, shows illicit romance] Michael's attorney presented these to the judge. And they triggered the fidelity clause in our prenup.
[several damning photographs]
Lydia: I get nothing. The beach house, my jewelry, the damn dog... Everything is gone.
Conrad: I am sorry, Lydia, but, really, what can I do?
Lydia: [resolute] You can write me a cheque. A big one.

Victoria: And here I thought you were offering me a way out of this.
Conrad: Never.

Nolan: [by the pool] Good morning, Lucy.
Louise: [in bikini] Why, Ethel, you look like your hangover is as wicked as mine.
[giggles]

Nolan: Did you...?
Louise: [looking down] No. We were arguing by the bluff. Things got heated. I didn't push him, but I didn't help him. I'm sorry I wasn't honest with you from the start.
[looks up]
Louise: You are the only person in my life who doesn't keep secrets from me, and I owe you the same.
[looking: ]
Louise: I hope you don't hate me.
Nolan: I could never hate you.
Louise: Do you think I should go to Ben and tell him the truth?
Nolan: No. Changing your story now will only arouse suspicion. There's no evidence of foul play,so...
[his mobile chimes]
Nolan: you're safe.

Emily: And now you've sabotaged our alliance because you fell for a hooker.

Emily: [the mysterious figure on the balcony turns out to be...] Lydia!
Lydia: [to Victoria and Emily] Don't just stand there. Zip me up!

Daniel: [the sound of high heels passing] Char. Could you come here a sec?
[she approaches]
Daniel: Uh, I was just trying to remember. When you managed to help Emily get all her memory back, how did you do that?
Charlotte: Oh, I didn't. That was Jack, remember?
Daniel: Of course.
[chuckles]
Daniel: My bad. And he asked you to sneak him in here too, right?
Charlotte: [cautious] What are you getting at?
Daniel: Just that Jack seemed to put a lot of behind-the-scenes effort into Emily after the shooting.
Margaux: Yeah. He's her friend, Daniel.
Daniel: Is that all? Because I just think it's odd
[Charlotte shakes her head]
Daniel: that he's trying to push you to leave now that Emily's single.
Charlotte: [dismayed] Daniel, stop. Don't listen to him.
Margaux: [to Daniel] You're trying to manipulate me.
Daniel: No, I'm just trying to get you to open your eyes. Jack is doing exactly what your father always has, what's best for him. It's time to do what's best for you.
[this clearly hits home with her]
