250 Best Legend of the Seeker Quotes

Cara: [in alternative reality, tied to tree] I have a son... and a daughter. I'm all that they've got.

Chase: So you're supposed to kill this Darken Rahl?
Richard: They say it's my destiny.

[last lines]
Richard: We should move fast. Nicci may have run away, but she'll be back.
Zeddicus: With her powers. To Nargoth then.
Cara: [still in princess' dress] Uh, not until I get out of this dress.
Kahlan: Why? A little lower on the neckline and you may never need another Agiel.
[catching: ]
Kahlan: And if you had done this a year ago, Darken Rahl would have surrendered at the sight of you.
[to: ]
Kahlan: And if you're going to wear a hem that short you should get rid of the stockings and show a little skin!
[smiling Zedd gives her a playful whack with his fan, she hugs him, giggles]

Darken: What an unexpected pleasure to see so many old friends... in one place. Though I must say, Walter, I have seen you looking better.
Richard: We know what you're planning to do to him. And we're not going to let it happen.
Darken: Now something tells me you'll do more than let it happen. You're going to kill him for me too. And then your new Sister of the Dark friend here will summon my soul into his body, and Cara's lovely lips will blow the Breath of Life into my new lungs.
Cara: You're out of your mind.
Darken: On the contrary, I'm thinking quite clearly. Are you, brother? Or do I need to remind you that without the Scroll of Valdaire, you will never repair the veil? The Keeper will win, and every living person in this world will die. But... if you do as I ask, I will hand you the Scroll personally.
Richard: Suddenly, you wanna defeat the Keeper?
Darken: I want to live again. You, of all people, must understand that, brother. I miss the taste of a crisp apple, the warm press of a woman's flesh against my own. But I must admit, being a spirit does have its advantages. I can appear to Sister Marianna much faster than you can get to the temple. I have but to command her to burn the Scroll, and your failure is assured. So do we have an agreement, or don't we?

Cara: [both of them shivering] We're wasting heat.
Richard: What do you mean?
Cara: [regards him slyly] Try not to be an idiot.

Triana: We're wasting time, Cara.
Cara: You're disturbing my bath... Triana.
Triana: While you're washing your hair, D"Hara is going to pieces. We should go to the people's palace, now!
Cara: And do what when we get there? Loot the wine cellar?
Triana: We swear our allegiance to Lord Rahl.
Cara: Lord Rahl is dead.
Triana: If he were the last of his bloodline, then our Agiels would have lost their power.
[demonstrates with her Agiel powering up as she dips the screaming wand into the pool]
Cara: [rising from her bath] If and when the new Lord Rahl should claim the throne, we will decide if he's worthy of our services. Until then, who better to bring order to the territory than the Mord-Sith? I've called for a meeting of all our Sisters at the temple of Jandralyn. We leave today.
Triana: When did you become queen? I must have missed the coronation.

Darken: The Wizard's power is useless against you, but the Mother Confessor is another story. Her touch is deadly to Mord-Sith.
Cara: I'm not afraid of the Confessor, My Lord. The Seeker won't stop until he recovers the Stone. And he'll kill you to get it. Please. Let us do this for you.
[kisses Darken Rahl, but a sly look speaking volumes is shared with Dahlia]
Darken: I'm so glad you've returned to my family, Cara.

Michael: All hail the savior of Hartland - Lord Rahl.

Richard: Maybe this is the chance we've been waiting for. I mean, we can never find Darken Rahl because he's always changing his location. But if this Demmin Nass is his most trusted commander, wouldn't he know where he is? If we can infiltrate the encampment at Kelabra and get close to Demmin Nass...
Kahlan: I could confess him.
Zeddicus: And we'd have one of Rahl's inner circle as our ally.
Richard: And if we can find Rahl, we can kill him.

Jennsen: Magic doesn't work on me, not even the magic of Orden.

Zeddicus: [zaps running hare with magical blast] Did I get him?
Richard: [charred remains] So much for dinner.
Kahlan: [as they walk away hungry] Wizard of the First Order. Really?
Zeddicus: I was hungry. He was getting away.
Richard: You torched the only game we've seen in two days.
Kahlan: Food used to be plentiful in these parts, but the D'Harans have been over-hunting to feed their armies.

Zeddicus: Lesson number 1, sometimes to gain ground you need to slow down.
Richard: That doesn't make sense.
Kahlan: Never expect sense from a wizard.

Darken: Are you trying to trick me?
Queen: I'm sorry?
Darken: This box is a counterfeit.
Queen: That's not possible.
Darken: Isn't it?
[lifts the spell and reveals the box to be a simple wooden box]
Darken: Someone has used magic to turn an ordinary spice box into a look-alike Box Of Orden.
Queen: But there is nobody with magic powers in my castle.
Darken: Your stupidity is stunning.
[turns to his general]
Darken: Seal the castle. No one gets in or out... And bring me the puppeteer.

Leo: [as Cara is about to climb onto her horse] Can I give you a hand?
Cara: [climbs up effortlessly, looks down at him:] You'll soon learn that it's we who are here to help you.
[coolly: ]
Cara: Seeker.
Zeddicus: Trying to show chivalry to a Mord-Sith is like trying to dance with a bear. It's never gonna work, and somebody will get their head bitten off.

Cara: [as Night Wisp warbles] I can't understand a thing you're saying. I'm sorry Kahlan's not here to talk to you, but she had to draw the Gars away. So would you please stop... serenading every creature... in the forest?
[while she pants for breath, the Night Wisp is quiet]
Cara: Finally.

Renn: [about Kahlan] Why don't you tell her how you feel?
Richard: It's complicated. You'll understand when you're an adult some day.
Renn: It's not complicated. You're afraid she doesn't feel the same. But you don't need to be afraid. She feels the same.
[Kahlan wakes]

Dahlia: [as Zedd snores] Does he always sleep so loudly? If I were a Wizard traveling with two Mord-Sith, I'd sleep with one eye open.
Cara: [softly] He trusts me.
Dahlia: [surprised] He doesn't question your loyalties?
Cara: [softly] He has no reason to.
Dahlia: I'm glad you decided to come with me.
Cara: I came because Richard ordered me to.
Dahlia: Are you sorry you did?
Cara: [softly] No.
Dahlia: Neither am I.
[kisses Cara]

Cara: [to the corpse of the slave cart driver] You couldn't at least stay alive long enough for me to come back and kill you!
[kicks carcass through the face]

[Last lines]
Richard: They'll be fine. You said it yourself. Dennee and Finn can't be confessed. So their son's touch will have no effect. He can't be seduced by his own power if he's unable to use it. Once they reach Valeria, there won't be anyone to corrupt him. With no one to corrupt him, they can raise him to be a force for good.
Kahlan: But what if we're wrong? What if we've unleashed a horrible evil into the world? What then?

Cara: [down in the tomb, re the note:] What does it say?
Kahlan: "You have one day until the sands run out. And when they do, so does your air."
Cara: You were right. This party is a lot of fun.

Denna: [trudging on] Keep moving, Wizard!
Zeddicus: Allow an old man to rest.
Denna: You prefer I should carry you?
Zeddicus: I prefer you should rub my feet.
Denna: It's no wonder Cara's gone soft with such weak companions as you and your friends.
Zeddicus: What do you know about friends? You have no one. That's the real reason you won't kill me. Because then you'll be alone, which is what you fear the most, isn't it?
[Denna slowly shakes her head in obstinate denial]
Zeddicus: My friends would stop at nothing to find me. Who would do the same for you?
Denna: [wanly] Friends are for the helpless.
Zeddicus: Denna. I can think of no one who needs help more than you. All your plans, all your designs on power, where have they gotten you?

Clayre,: [to Richard] You may be the one true Seeker, but you're not very much fun.

Richard: I'll never get near the dungeon now.
Zeddicus: Afraid there's only one hope left to us.
Richard: For Cara to get close enough to the margrave to steal the key.
Zeddicus: [to Cara] You must do exactly as I say. When in the hunt, a woman must never take the lead...
Cara: Forget the lessons. I've minced and curtsied and rhymed, and we still don't have the key. I'll get it my way.
Zeddicus: Without your Agiels?
Cara: I don't need magic to make a man beg for mercy.

Cara: [arriving on horseback] Richard, Kahlan, don't listen to her! This woman is a fraud!

Cara: [approaching woman who carries spirit of Dennee with head bowed] May I speak to you? I just want you to know,
[as: ]
Cara: I regret what I did on Valeria.
Lucinda: [shakes her head] I can't accept your apology.
Cara: [softly] I needed to say it anyway.

Darken: [in sulphurous pit] Salindra...! Salindra...!
[she gasps]
Darken: Don't be frightened. It's much too late for fear to do you any good.
Salindra: [fearfully] What are you going to do to me?
Darken: Well, that would be up to you. If you like, I could give you a second life.
Salindra: At what price?
Darken: Only a small one. Simply deliver the Wizard to the Underworld, along with the Sword of Truth and the compass.
Salindra: What do you need them for?
Darken: Haven't you heard? The Keeper is fighting a war to conquer the world of the living. And he needs your help. Can he count on you?
Salindra: Isn't there some other price I could pay?
Darken: [with disdain] Don't tell me you've fallen in love with him.
Salindra: He's a nice fellow.
[sniffs]
Salindra: He's been kind to me.
Darken: [booming voice] They're all nice fellows to you! As long as they have a little gold in their pocket! On the other hand, you're welcome to stay here with us in the Underworld. The Keeper maintains a very special chamber of torments for those who traffic in love.
[she shudders]
Darken: Ask yourself, "What is the life of one Wizard?" Come on, Salindra. You're a practical... girl.

Richard: When you touched that man... what did you do to him?
[but she has no time for him, is on her way]
Richard: Hey!
Kahlan: [snarls] You wanna know what I did to that man? Try and follow me and you'll find out!

Kahlan: [little Shar's funeral] May the Spirits light your way through the land of the shadow, to the halls of eternal peace.

Richard: [gets rid of the shackles, hands them to her] Take this. Now, will you be all right to get through the forest on your own?
Bronwyn: I'm coming with you.
Richard: It's too dangerous. My friends are about to attack a D'Haran encampment with someone who is not the Seeker.
[shrugs]
Richard: I need to move quickly.
Bronwyn: Then you need me! I know a shortcut to Kelabra. Through the caves. If your friends really are in danger, then the fastest way for you to reach them, is for me to take you.

Richard: [eerie voices calling out] Who are they?
Zeddicus: Shadow People.
Kahlan: It's the souls of the dead. It's said that they can travel into the Boundary from the underworld.

Barkeep: [after Zedd conjured up lots and lots of coins] Girls, take this gentleman upstairs and see that he has the best night of his life.
Zeddicus: [had his mind set on the cute blonde] What about her?
Barkeep: Well, that will be up to Salindra, and Salindra's very choosy. But if you ask her nicely, she might go upstairs with you.
Zeddicus: [gathers courage] Salindra...
Salindra: Hmm?
Zeddicus: Will you come upstairs with me?
Salindra: Sorry,
[scoffs]
Salindra: you remind me too much of my grandfather.

Cara: [after the fight] I think that's all of them.
Zeddicus: For now. But this is a place of death. Others may crawl out of the earth to replace them. We should get Flynn back here with the rune as quickly as we can.
Cara: We? Are you sure you can trust me?
Zeddicus: No. But I don't have the luxury of caution.

Dahlia: [Zedd snores as they get dressed] Good thing the Wizard sleeps so soundly.
Cara: If we move quickly, we can reach Eritrane and rescue the child before nightfall.
Dahlia: Then you'll go back to the Seeker and his quest?
Cara: Yes.
Dahlia: You don't have to. You could stay with me. We could raise the Lord Rahl together.
Cara: [insists] Richard... is the Lord Rahl.
Dahlia: Cara, you led the charge at Pallus Ridge. You were merciless at Valeria. You once swore to kill the man you now serve. What happened to you?
Cara: Richard.
[gets up, fixes Dahlia's collar]
Cara: The Seeker could use a fighter as strong as you, Dahlia. We could serve him together.
[but Dahlia shuns this suggestion with contempt]
Cara: I should wake Zedd.

Cara: I asked our friends if we could borrow their horses.
[looks back at slew of dead bodies, those soldiers killed earlier]
Cara: They didn't object.

Zeddicus: Rachel. How did you come by such a beautiful name?
Rachel: I was named after my grandmother.
Zeddicus: Where's your grandmother now, dear one?
Rachel: The Queen's soldiers killed her. She didn't fall to her knees fast enough when the Queen came riding by in her carriage. They killed my mother and my father and my brother too.
[the Wizard's hand on her cheek]
Rachel: You took the sting away!
Zeddicus: Rachel, I need your help with something very important. Have you ever been in the Treasure Room?
Rachel: Yes.
Zeddicus: And have you seen the Box of Orden?
Rachel: [nods] Yes. Princess Violet hates it, because it's the only thing in the castle
[shakes her head]
Rachel: she's not allowed to touch.
Zeddicus: And does Violet ever take the key off her neck?
Rachel: [shakes her head] No, she even sleeps with it.
Zeddicus: And do you sleep in the room with her?
Rachel: [indicates basket fit for a dog] She makes me sleep in that box, but sometimes, when she thinks I'm being bad, she makes me sleep outside. Sometimes I'm bad on purpose, because I like sleeping outside better. I like hearing the crickets.
Zeddicus: Rachel, I have something special I'd like to give you.
[the little girl pulls in her breath at the sight of a wooden puppet]
Zeddicus: It's called... a Trouble Doll. You tell her your troubles, and she takes them away for you.
[Rachel smiles]
Rachel: [smile fades] I can't. Princess Violet says I'm not allowed to have my own toys. If I keep it, she'll throw it in the fire.
Zeddicus: Rachel, in all my travels, I've never met a ghastlier little monster than Princess Violet of Tamaran.
Rachel: Shh! If the Princess knows you said that, she'd have you killed!

Cara: [closing lid of crate] I've seen him before. A man came to the stables asking for a horse so he could take his brother to be buried.
Richard: Apparently he took the treasure instead.
Kahlan: [to Cara] And you believed his story?
Cara: [to Richard, ignoring Kahlan] The Confessor told me I had to show more compassion.
Kahlan: Are you saying this is my fault?
Cara: Yes.
Richard: [as the two young women glare at each other] It doesn't matter whose fault it is. We need to find him.

Richard: [takes Kahlan's hand] This is where we say goodbye.
Cara: Can't we speed this up? She loves you, you love her. I should protect her as if she were you. I missed anything? We could be halfway there by the time you two finish your goodbyes.
Kahlan: We'll catch up once the Night Wisp is safe.
Richard: Be careful.
Kahlan: And you too.

[Last lines]
Kahlan: We should get going soon.
Richard: Aww, come on. What's the hurry?
Kahlan: Well, if you're going to need to rescue every damsel in distress, there's no time to waste.

Richard: Who are you?
The: I am the Creator. All will rejoice in my light.
[raises her arms in supplication, clouds part before the sun]
Cara: If she's the Creator, I'm the Queen of Tamarang.
Zeddicus: She's healing people I couldn't.
Kahlan: Maybe. But the Creator lives in the Spirit World. This woman is flesh and blood. I'm going to find out who she really is.
Richard: Kahlan, be careful. Whoever she is, she's very powerful.

Richard: I'd never even heard of the D'Harans until they killed my father. And I have another brother back in Hartland; Michael. I love him. But the D'Harans turned him against me. So now I know exactly what they're capable of and I know that giving in won't stop them.

Richard: [arriving at ruins] It must have burned at least three months ago. These weeds are at least that old.
Kahlan: D'Harans did this.
Zeddicus: Then where are the corpses?
Cara: If the abbot isn't here, then we have come a long way for nothing.
Richard: If D'Harans did this, and they didn't kill the monks, where would they have taken them?
Cara: From here, they would have been taken to Tothrayne.
Richard: What's Tothrayne?
Cara: A death camp.

Sister: [chant] Great Keeper of the Underworld, as I walk in the path to eternal darkness, grant me the strength to carry your will.

Garren: Lord Rahl wants you alive. But if you resist, he'll settle for dead.

Luna: My brother's not a murderer! Let him go!

King: My kingdom is being terrorized by a vicious beast that's ravaging our countryside, and I need your help to destroy this monster.
Richard: Tell me where to find this beast.
King: You already have. It's me.

Chase: If I believed in fairy tales, I'd say I just saw my friend Richard Cypher slay a dragon!

Cara: A general intent on conquering all of D'Hara makes a detour to visit a brothel. Should I pretend to be surprised?

Richard: The tracks lead that way, but they are at least a day old. We have to pick up our pace.
Zeddicus: Fortune has smiled upon us.
Cara: A Sister of the Dark has escaped with the Scroll, she's hours ahead, and you call that... fortunate?
Zeddicus: Do you smell that?
Cara: Smell what? Pine trees?
Zeddicus: Lamb, butter, a touch of fennel. There it is, on the wind, the sound of distant laughter. Which leads me to conclude we're fast approaching a roadside tavern, the balm of all weary travelers.
Cara: We don't have time to feed your belly, Wizard.
Zeddicus: None of us have eaten in days. We'll all move a lot faster once we are fortified. And I'm certain that a good tavern keeper will be more than happy to back up our victuals for the road. Compliments of the house.

Richard: Even if we find the Stone and you destroy it, even if you kill yourself and take Kahlan with you, you won't win.
Sister: Your fight against the Keeper is futile. In the end, he will win. He always does. Life is fleeting, death is eternal.

Sister: [to Richard] I'm going to the bridge now, and if you're not with me by the time I get there, the Mother Confessor and I will meet the Keeper together.

Kahlan: Magic has its uses, but sometimes it...
[with: ]
Kahlan: keeps people apart.

Cara: Love them? I'd kill a thousand men before I'd let one of them make me his slave!

Cara: [at Leo's funeral pyre, places that red flower on top of his body, whispering softly:] I do care about you.

Nella: I don't need a Confessor to tell me I should believe in my husband.

Sister: Marissa, do you really think your han can compete with mine?
Sister: I'm not here to compete with your han. I'm here to take it.
Sister: There are only four of you. Either you overestimate your power, or you underestimate mine.

Cara: [enters cave dwelling carrying batch of hunted-down hares] I brought you dinner. Quick little bastards. But not quick enough.
Roga: Thank you. But we never eat anything that's been killed.
Cara: [coldly] Actually, I found them by the side of the road, where they died a natural... peaceful death.
Zeddicus: Cara... We're Roga's guests.
Cara: There's no sense to this!
[throws down the hares]
Cara: It's one thing to kill another person. But you have to eat.
Roga: I saw some winterberries growing along the path, down below the rocks. We'll gather some.
Zeddicus: [as the group goes off] Go after them.
Cara: They don't want our help.
Zeddicus: As long as we're with them, I'm not going to allow any more of them to be killed. Go!
[Cara goes after them, smirks]

Cara: [fighting with Denna] Careful. You don't wanna get blood over your nice white leather.

Cara: What is it?
Leo: For you.
[offers red flower]
Leo: It matches the color of your leather.
[she looks at him scornfully and storms away]
Leo: Have I offended you?
Cara: Flowers make me sneeze.
Leo: Didn't last night mean anything to you?
Cara: It was pleasurable, but it doesn't make me your mate for life.
Leo: I don't remember asking you to marry me. But I do care about you, and I think you feel the same.
Cara: [coolly] You're mistaken.
[Leo gives up and walks away]
Kahlan: [coming up from behind] You know, I've been watching you for weeks, and I can tell you care about him.
Cara: You can't read a Mord-Sith.
Kahlan: The Confessor in me can't, but the woman can tell you're not telling the truth. It's a hard world we live in, Cara. You don't get many chances. If you have feelings for Leo, you should tell him.

Kahlan: Why are these people kneeling before you?
[Lara stays silent]
Kahlan: You must tell the truth, Lara. Have you used your power to confess them?
Lara: Yes. I have confessed them all.

Cara: [strung up with chains] Whatever your plan is, it will fail. Richard will find me. And he will humiliate you... again.
Darken: My poor Cara. You actually believe the Seeker will stop his quest simply to save you? You're not that important.
[punches her in the face again]
Dahlia: [entering] Lord Rahl. Our scouts report no sign of enemies. If you'd like, I can call them back to break the Wizard.
Darken: No. Keep them on watch. The Sisters of the Dark have been following me for weeks. They can't be far behind. As for the Wizard, with the rada'han around his neck, he's nothing more than a frail old man.
Dahlia: [surveying battered Cara] My Lord, you've been exhausting yourself for hours. Let me continue her training, so you can get some rest.
[clearly has ulterior motive]
Darken: [smirks as he hands over Agiel] But pain before pleasure, Dahlia.
[leaves]

Sister: Lord Rahl, have I displeased the Keeper?
Frederick: The stench of your failure passes through the veil to sicken him even in the Underworld. Yet there is one way you may regain his favor.
Sister: Tell me.
Frederick: Bring me the Stone of Tears.
Sister: Lord Rahl, the compass that points to the Stone of Tears only works in the hands of the Seeker.
Frederick: Well then, if you cannot control the compass, you must find a way to control the Seeker.
Sister: What about the Mother Confessor? The Prophecy says the Keeper is doomed to fail as long as her pure heart beats.
Frederick: We can address the problem of the Mother Confessor's beating heart once you get the Stone from the Seeker.
Sister: [struck by idea] I may know a way to control the Seeker, find the Stone, and kill the Mother Confessor.

Kahlan: [after Richard leaves on Zed's horse] He's got the sword and the book!
Zeddicus: Isn't that what you wanted?

Zeddicus: Forget what I believe. You can't abandon Richard!
Kahlan: I'm not abandoning him... I'm protecting him!
Zeddicus: From what, exactly?
Kahlan: You were right. I do have feelings for him. Last night, I...
[lowers gaze]
Kahlan: I almost lost control of those feelings. If I hadn't stopped myself, Richard would have been lost forever, and the Prophecy would have been fulfilled.
Zeddicus: But you did stop yourself.
Kahlan: Maybe next time I won't be able to.
Zeddicus: Oh, Kahlan, you're stronger than that, you'd never let that happen.
Kahlan: Not on purpose, no.
[shakes her head, inhaling sharply]
Kahlan: But how am I to know how the Prophecy will come to pass? I could betray him because of a spell, or a... a trick. All I know is... the Prophecy cannot be avoided.
Zeddicus: All I know is that the Seeker needs his Confessor!

Cara: [on top of the margrave] Tell me where the key is or there's going to be a royal decapitation.
[her blade goes lower and lower...]
The: It's sewn inside my vest!
[Cara finds it]
Cara: [taunting] Dear margrave, the sight of your face makes me sick, you decadent, pompous, self-satisfied...!
[rhyming word lost as she slaps him through the face]

Leo: The compass is still pointing the same way. Maybe it's leading us to the Stone of Tears.
Kahlan: No, it's leading us to Richard. I'm sure of it.
Cara: Wizard, we've been traveling for weeks. Wouldn't it be faster if you just turned us into birds?
Zeddicus: How would Leo carry the Sword of Truth? In his beak?
Leo: [laughs, then turns towards Cara] So, what kind of bird would you want to be?
Cara: What difference does it make?
Leo: I'm curious.
Cara: Blue-tailed sea hawk.
Leo: That's a noble animal.
Cara: One that attacks without warning.
[spitefully: ]
Cara: Nothing escapes its claws.
Leo: Do you know what kind of bird I'd be?
Cara: Parrot that doesn't know when to stop talking?
Leo: The banded falcon. They're the only birds blue-tailed sea hawks will fly with.
Cara: [halts] Keep going. I have a stone in my boot.
[but is really hiding the attraction she has towards Leo]
Kahlan: Leo has feelings for you.
Cara: [coldly] Same feelings all men have.

Cara: If you had assumed the throne of D'Hara months ago, the army would be helping you in your quest, instead of trying to kill you.
Richard: If I had claimed the throne, I wouldn't be on a quest to find the Stone of Tears. I'd be too busy killing and scheming to keep control of my empire.
Cara: Sometimes ruthlessness is required of a leader. Fear is the only thing that ever united D'Hara.
Richard: I've never tried to get people to follow me by terrorizing and killing them.
Cara: Your sentiments are noble, but impractical. A true leader takes power, he doesn't ask his subjects for permission first.
Richard: That was Darken Rahl's way... not mine. Now let's go find Grix.
[Cara follows him]

[first lines]
Richard: See how the deer changed direction when they heard us coming? Can you tell me which way they went?
Cara: I don't see why I need to learn to hunt.
Richard: We're not in a Mord-Sith temple. We don't have slaves to bring us dinner.
Cara: I'm here to protect you, Richard. Not provide meals.
Richard: [smiles] Kahlan's not above digging up roots. And even Zedd's been known to do the washing now and then. We all need to contribute.
Cara: [seductively] Are you saying I don't do enough for you?
Richard: Just tell me which way the deer went.
Cara: That way... Where the bark has rubbed off the tree.
Richard: See? I knew you'd be good at this.

Zeddicus: Rachel! Come!
[laughs]
Zeddicus: Sit, child.
Rachel: Are you going to stay here with us? It's nice here.
Zeddicus: I wish we could. But Richard and I need to see Kaylan safely to Aydindril.
Rachel: Why are you going there?
Richard: That's where the Mother Confessor presides.
Martha: The Midlands under the rule of law and justice. I never thought I'd live to see the day.
Rachel: [to Kaylan] Are you going to marry Richard?
Martha: Rachel!
Kahlan: It's okay. Uh... no,
[shakes her head]
Kahlan: we're not getting married.
Rachel: Don't you love each other?
Kahlan: Yes. But my duties as a Confessor, my powers, keep me from being a wife to Richard.
Rachel: That's not fair.

Zeddicus: [animal roasting over fire] I hope you don't expect me to eat that without blackberry sauce.
Denna: Refusing to eat will only make the journey harder for you.
Zeddicus: [with irony] I'm touched by your concern for my well-being. Why are we going anywhere? Why not break me right here?
Denna: So your screams can reach sympathetic ears? No. I have a more suitable place in mind for your training.
Zeddicus: You have another choice. You could be merciful.
Denna: You think I'll let you go?
Zeddicus: Of course not. But you could give me a swift death instead of torturing me.
Denna: [smiling] But that's the part I enjoy the most.
Zeddicus: I've given you a new life. What else do you want?
Denna: You... can't imagine the things I want. And you're going to help me get them. You served the Seeker well, and now you'll serve me.
Zeddicus: [adamantly] Never.
Denna: [scoffs] I think you'll find it quite liberating. For so long, you've been burdened by all the world's concerns. Once you're liberated, you'll have only one.
[grins]
Denna: Pleasing me.

Richard: [as Carver Dunn, to Captain Ensor, after beating the crap out of several D'Haran soldiers] These men are cowards. They can't track, they can't fight, and if you don't want those rebels to kill you all, you need a man like me.

Kahlan: What I can do to people... Bring them under my control... My mother did that to my father.
Richard: Why?
Kahlan: She... she had to. And when I was five years old, and my sister was three... my Mom died... and... my father was freed from her hold on him. So he came to get us. To claim what was his. He started making us use our powers to get what he wanted out of people. We made them do... such terrible... things.
[tearfully shakes her head]
Kahlan: And if we tried not to, he would...
Renn: Tie you up. Bind your hands.

[Denna lays out plans for Jennsen to break into the People's palaces and get the two Boxes of Orden. As Denna speaks, we see Jennsen carry out those plans]
Denna: The People's palace is surrounded by a tree line that acts as a magical barrier. Only those who have been spelled by Rahl's sorcerers can pass in and out of the barrier without being instantly killed by it. Richard will have to wait for you on the other side. There will be alarms, but you won't set them off. Just make sure the archers patrolling the battlements don't see you. They shoot on sight. There's a secret entrance on the south end of the palace that leads to an escape tunnel. As Lord Rahl's personal bodyguards, only the Mord-Sith know of its existence. You'll see the opening. But make sure no one is watching you. Because what they will see is someone walking through a solid wall. Follow the tunnel to the staircase. At the top is an archway guarded by a lone sentry. He passes every 90 seconds. Wait until he goes by and then run straight ahead to the entrance to Rahl's ceremonial chamber. Rahl trusts no one, so there are no living guards watching over the chamber itself. It's protected only by magic. The final magical shield, the one closest to the boxes, allows only Rahl himself to get through. Of course, you're the exception. But be very careful. Even if you make it past all the shields and guards, Darken Rahl has an uncanny ability to sense when things are awry.

Richard: [stolen bracelet] Where did you get that?
Luna: My brother gave it to me.
Kahlan: When?
Luna: This morning.
Bosin: After he stole it from me.
Luna: He stole it from you this morning? Around sunrise?
Bosin: Yeah.
Luna: Then he couldn't have killed Connor. My brother may have been a thief, but he was no murderer! You killed him! He didn't have to die!
Declan: [amidst commotion] Calm down. Calm down!
Luna: Are you proud of yourself, Confessor? You murdered my brother! As sure as you drove a stake through his heart!

Richard: I'd like to speak on Zedd's behalf before his sentence is carried out.
heartless: It's your right to speak.
Richard: In sentencing Zedd for treason, you failed to take into consideration his exceptional life and deeds. Should I list them?
heartless: I'm well aware of Zedd's accomplishments. But it doesn't change the fact that he conspired to overthrow me. He broke the law.
Richard: As Mother Confessor, the law is what you say it is.
heartless: And I say the Code of Aydindril is the law.
Richard: I've read the Code of Aydindril. It was written by the first Mother Confessor. She said there is no justice be it not tempered with mercy.
heartless: Magda Searus, the first Mother Confessor, she was not without her enemy. She killed when it was necessary.
Richard: She did kill. In fact, she insisted that all male Confessor babies be killed because they lack the compassion necessary to control their powers.
heartless: Is my sex in question, Richard?
Richard: No. But your compassion is. You have none. Because you are, in fact, not the Mother Confessor.
heartless: You know who I am, Richard.
Richard: I know your kindness, your wisdom, and, yes, your compassion. But I don't see these things in you. Because they're in her!
heartless: [amazed to see 'softer self' unveiling] This is a trick.
Richard: This is no trick. She's been with me since the moment you left. When you used the amulet, you were split in two. You may have your powers, and your sharp mind, but the rest of you is in her. Your heart... your compassion... your mercy. The Mother Confessor needs all of it. Zedd can fix this. He can put you back together. He can make you a whole person again. But until he does, you don't have the right to decide his fate, or anyone else's.
heartless: Let's assume you're correct, and I no longer have the part of me that cares for you... or for Zedd. That... compassion, as you call it, kept me from my duties here. Without it, I'm a better leader, a better judge, a better Confessor. Whoever she is, I don't need her getting in the way of that.
Richard: If you refuse to allow Zedd to put you back together, you will leave this woman without her reason, her power. Is that just?
heartless: [surprised] She has no powers?
[her 'carbon copy' shakes her head]
heartless: Then you and Richard can be together. Do you feel incomplete?
[timid version hesitates]
heartless: You can't lie to a Confessor, I think you know that.
powerless: No, I don't feel incomplete. If you're part of me, then... I don't want you back. Not if it means I'd put duty above love. Not if it means I can never be Richard's wife.
Richard: I'm never going to be your husband!
powerless: No, you'll change your mind. I can be everything that you want. I won't ask you to give up your quest. I'll... I'll love Cara like a sister. And you can have her too if that's what you want. And you'll love me just like you did before.
Richard: [to 'hard version'] Would you look at her? She's not in her right mind! And neither are you.
heartless: Richard, I understand that you miss some... idealized form of the Kahlan you loved. But you do not have the right to murder two distinct individuals simply to get the one that you want. I've made my decision. Go back to your quest and take her with you!
Richard: I'm not going anywhere until you let Zedd go!
heartless: Then you'll be arrested for defying the Mother Confessor.
[to: ]
heartless: Seize them!

Lilly: [caught Richard easily] And look how hard that was. The D'Harans don't need to send an army. All it takes is a few tears and an ample bosom.

Denna: I do enjoy a challenge. Shall we begin?

Kahlan: Zedd, why don't you tell him?
Zeddicus: Because if Richard knew, he would risk his own safety for mine, and his life is far more important. Nobody hopes more than I that we find Richard's mother, and there's nothing I want more than to tell him the truth. And someday, when all this is over, then, then we will have stories to tell. But until then, he cannot know that I'm his grandfather.

Captain: Those men you just bloodied are my best soldiers. All three of them are your superiors.
Richard: [as Carver Dunn] Sir, it's not my fault they couldn't take advantage of the information I gave them. Every good woodsman knows a noisy hunter never catches his prey.

Zeddicus: There's only one person powerful enough to spell a Wizard of the First Order, who knows exactly what fruit I won't be able to resist.
Richard: Who? Zedd, who?
Zeddicus: Shota.

General: Lord Rahl, Mistress Denna has sent word by Journey Book. She'll arrive by nightfall tomorrow with the third Box of Orden.
Darken: Tell her she'll be greeted with the strumming of harps and the blast of trumpets.
General: You doubt her, my lord?
Darken: I doubt the very sun at noon, Egremont.

Richard: Girls?
Cara: Hmm. Half a dozen of them, hanging all over him. And then he disappeared. I've been searching for him all night.

Denna: [the corpse is not a corpse] You know your magic is useless against a Mord-Sith!
[rises, strikes Zedd down with her Agiel]

Cara: [finds Zedd, who has spell-induced amnesia] Why is it that when I'm hunting down a man, I never have to look further than the first brothel past the gates?
Zeddicus: Keep away from me!
Cara: Sorry, your little adventure is over. I'm taking you back to Richard and Kahlan.
Zeddicus: I'm not going anywhere with you!
Cara: I think you'll reconsider.
[draws her Agiel]

Sister: If the Keeper walks among the living, we have no time to waste.
Kahlan: Yes, Mistress.

Darken: [Cara's in the sickeningly green hell of the Underworld] So... you want to be a baneling?
Cara: Send me back... and I'll serve the Keeper.
Darken: [clearly savoring his prospects] And miss out on the pleasure... of tormenting you for an eternity?
Cara: I'm only one soul. Think of all the others I could provide for you.
Darken: Yes... you always had a nose for blood, Cara. But perhaps you're forgetting the fact that you betrayed me. You helped the Seeker to kill me. And now you want me to trust you to uphold your end of the bargain?
Cara: If I don't honor the agreement, you can call me back here to face the Keeper's wrath.
Darken: True. But if I give you a second life, you will just go back to helping Richard. He and I aren't exactly on friendly terms.
Cara: You know I kill people to protect Richard. Many. What does it matter why I do it, as long as I do it?
Darken: Yes, the Seeker and his merry band are some of the Keeper's finest suppliers of souls. But you delude yourself into believing you're killing to defeat evil. My banelings have to kill every day. What happens when you run out of bad people? I don't think the Seeker would appreciate you killing the good ones.
Cara: That will be my problem.
Darken: It certainly will. Do you understand the rules?
Cara: If I keep killing, I stay alive.
Darken: Only living people. No banelings. Their souls already belong to the Keeper. And you can't... get ahead.
Cara: [puzzled] Ahead?
Darken: I'm sure it's occurred to you that you can kill six or seven irredeemable miscreants and stay healthy for a week at a time. But it doesn't work that way. Every time you kill, the clock begins to tick again. And don't think because you're a Mord-Sith you will have a special advantage. As a baneling, you will no longer have the Breath of Life. You won't be able to kill someone only to revive them.
Cara: I understand. Now send me back.
Darken: [almost lovingly] Patience... never was one of your strong suits, Cara.
Cara: Do we have a deal... or not?

D'Haran: Command me, Confessor!
Kahlan: Tell me why you attacked us.
D'Haran: We had standing orders to kill the Seeker.
Richard: Maybe you haven't gotten word. The war's over.
D'Haran: Yes, but there's a rumor among the officer corps that the Seeker's of the Rahl bloodline, that he's next in line for the throne.
Cara: Then the D'Harans should serve him, not try to kill him.
D'Haran: My commanding officer, general Grix, wants to claim the throne for himself. He's trying to eliminate anyone who would challenge him. Not only the Seeker, but rival generals in the D'Haran army as well.
Cara: Only a Lord Rahl can rule the empire, not some common foot soldier.

Rachel: [to sobbing little girl] Don't be scared. The Seeker and the Confessor will save us.
Triana: I said no talking!

[Kahlan sees Cara take a leaf out of Richard's hair]
Kahlan: What are you two doing?
Richard: We're just discussing whether we should go through the mountains or cross the river.
Kahlan: [to Cara] You had your hands all over him.
Cara: I was taking a leaf out of his hair.
Kahlan: I may not have my powers, but I have EYES, Cara. I know what I saw. You can't stand it that Richard and I were together last night.
Cara: Why would I care?
Kahlan: Do you think I don't see how you look at him? "I'd die for you, Richard"? "How can I serve you, Richard"? You want him for yourself, you always have. Just admit it!
Richard: Kahlan, you are seeing things that aren't there.
Kahlan: Richard, she has been trying to get her claws into you ever since you rescued her from the Mord'Sith!
Cara: NO ONE... rescued me.
Richard: Cara!
Kahlan: You think if it weren't for me you'd have him already? Well, you will never have him.
Cara: If I wanted him I would've had him already.
[Before this escalates any further, Richard steps in between Kahlan and Cara]
Richard: Kahlan, you're not thinking. Cara hasn't done anything.
Kahlan: [defensively] Why do you always defend her?
Richard: Just calm down.
Kahlan: You love her, don't you?
Richard: Kahlan...
Kahlan: All right, fine. If you want her, you can have her. I hope you two will be very happy together.
[She walks away]

[first lines]
Sister: [in supplication] Lord Rahl...
Darken: Have you brought what I asked for?
Sister: The Scroll of Valdaire?
[offers it]
Darken: Did the Seeker read it?
Sister: I took it from him before he could break the seal.
Darken: [pleased] Then he still has no idea what to do with the Stone of Tears when he finds it.
Sister: And he never will.
[about to throw the Scroll into the campfire]
Darken: No. Do not destroy it. It is the Keeper's will that you take the Scroll to the Mord-Sith temple of Jandralyn without breaking the seal. There, you will deliver it into my hands and to my hands only.
Sister: In the World of the Living, you're nothing more than a spirit. Into what hands am I to deliver it?
Darken: If I were you, Marianna, I would worry more about making sure that the Seeker does not kill you and take the Scroll before you reach Jandralyn. Because I am quite sure that my intrepid brother, Richard, is already on your trail.

Shota: Six fingers west of the moon. Okay. Seven sisters pass through the House Of The Lamb every 627 revolutions. I have it.
Kahlan: Where is he?
Shota: Not where. When.
Kahlan: Tell me.
Shota: The Seeker will reappear at the site of his vanishing, upon the rising of the second full moon of the 58th year after his disappearance.
Kahlan: Fifty-eight years. I'll be an old woman.
Shota: You don't truly believe that Darken Rahl will let you live that long.

Cara: [re young woman claiming to be the Creator] It's a trick! For all we know, she's an agent that was sent to destroy Richard.
Kahlan: She's telling the truth, or at least, she believes what she's saying.
Cara: [her voice a low snarl] You can't even read a Mord-Sith. Yet somehow you know what a woman this powerful is thinking?
Kahlan: There's more to it. She knows things.
Cara: We should leave. Now.

Leo: [Cara's planted the first kiss] You know, where I come from, the man does that.
Cara: Then what are you waiting for?

Richard: [standoff in the woods] Cara, don't do this.
Cara: You seem to have forgotten, Richard. Mord-Sith only take orders from the true... Lord Rahl.

Prelate: [huge doors open] Hello, Sister Nicci.
Sister: [stands chained, arms spread] You have no right to keep me prisoner.
Prelate: I have the right to do far worse. You betrayed our Order by helping Richard Cypher escape from this palace.
Sister: You were holding him here against his will.
Sister: You only freed him so that he would fulfill the Prophecy, and deliver the Stone to the Keeper of the Underworld whom you serve.
Prelate: Name the Sisters of the Dark, or you will die.
Sister: You'll need me alive if you ever hope to remove my power and restore it to Richard.
Prelate: That is no longer possible. After you freed Richard from the Palace, he wandered into the Valley of Perdition. Richard is going to die. You've failed, Nicci. The new Seeker has already been named. He's on his way to the Stone of Tears.

Cara: [as Leo practices swinging Sword of Truth about] Is the air putting up much of a fight?
Leo: [smiling, points sword at her] Well, I could use a sparring partner.
Cara: Mord-Siths don't spar.
[takes: ]
Cara: When we fight, we fight to inflict pain.
[suddenly jumps on Leo, bringing him down just in time as whirling Dacra scythes through the air]
Cara: Someone just tried to kill you!

Zeddicus: [outside cabin] The trail ends here. Denna must be in there.
Cara: Then what are we waiting for?

Kahlan: [re Dahlia] You know I can't read a Mord-Sith.
[to: ]
Kahlan: Do you think we can trust her?
Cara: I've known her for a long time. Before we were Mord-Sith, we were schoolmates.
Kahlan: [realizes] She was taken from Stowecroft too.
Richard: If there's any chance that she's telling the truth, we need to find this boy.
Cara: What we need to find is the Stone of Tears. This could be a trap set by the Sisters of the Dark to keep you away from your quest.
Kahlan: Cara, we're talking about a child... your son.
Cara: He means nothing to me.

Anna: Viceroy. I invited you here for a meal, some conversation. I think maybe you have the wrong impression of me.
Viceroy: I can't help myself when I'm around you, Anna. If I didn't know better, I'd say you put me under an enchantment.
Anna: Do clever words like those make other girls swoon?
[pours him a drink]
Viceroy: There are no others.
Anna: Mm. You expect me to believe that a dashing, brilliant man like you has no prospects other than a simple girl from Hartland?
Viceroy: Simple is not a word I would use to describe you, Anna.

Kahlan: Richard's boots made these tracks, Mistress. But they're at least half a day old.
Sister: He's been here and gone. That way.
Kahlan: Mistress... I know Richard. He's clever. He may have realized you're tracking him, and he's setting a trap for you.
[shakes her head, tearfully strokes Nicci's cheek]
Kahlan: I couldn't bear it if any harm came to you.
Sister: [slaps Kahlan very hard] Stop groveling! The Seeker isn't going to kill me. He's going to serve me.
Kahlan: How?
Sister: He trusts you.
[washes her hands in trough]
Sister: Once we've caught up to him, you'll get close enough to confess him. That's why I didn't take all of your han.
Kahlan: I will do whatever you wish, but how is the Seeker going to serve you if he is confessed to me?
Sister: You will order him to give me the Stone of Tears. It has the power to bestow immortality, even while the Keeper does me the great favor of destroying all of the pathetic life that inhabits this world. You will order Richard to be my consort. And he and I will start a new race in our image, a people that follow my will, and my will alone.
Kahlan: Mistress... if we don't catch up to Richard in time...
Sister: That's why you're gonna help me slow him down.

[first lines]
Richard: [the two of them fleeing before swarm] Run, Kahlan, run!
Kahlan: Did we lose them?
Richard: I think so.
Kahlan: Those bees were more relentless than the Dragon Corps.
Richard: [palm full of sweetness] So much work for so little honey.

Richard: [to Kahlan] I won't let anything happen to you.
Zeddicus: Then you'd best not let anything happen to her!
[points at Sister Nicci walking away determinedly]

Kahlan: [Approaching the Daharan camp] It's not well-guarded. That's lucky.
Richard: You know what Zedd says, "A man who trusts in luck better have plenty of it".

Richard: [Livia has disappeared] No tracks! She didn't leave on foot.
Zeddicus: Obviously, there is magic at work here.

Kahlan: [Richard killed the soldier they should have captured alive] Why did you do that? I had him!
Richard: It looked to me like he had you!

Courtesan: Welcome to the Palace of Athenia. What is your pleasure?
Denna: Tonight it seems the pleasure is all mine.
Richard: Denna?
Denna: It's good to see you again, Seeker. I heard a rumor you were travelling with a Mord-Sith. Thank you, Bella, I'll look after our guests.
Courtesan: Yes, Madame Denna.
Cara: Madame Denna? The right hand of Darken Rahl, reduced to peddling flesh.
Denna: Times are difficult. A Mord-Sith has to make a living... now that the war is over. I'm simply taking what I've learned... and putting it to good use. And pleasure, after all, is the inverse of pain. Knowledge of one makes mastery of the other so much easier. You of all people should know that, Cara.
Cara: The place of a Mord-Sith is at the side of Lord Rahl.
Denna: So, the rumors are true.
Richard: We're looking for a D'Haran general named Grix. Do you know him?
Denna: I find that it's good business to be friendly with the local commanders.
Cara: You provide them with whores, and in exchange, they leave you alone.
Denna: Many of my clients would enjoy your acerbic tongue. You could do very well here.
[to: ]
Denna: What's your interest in the general?
Richard: He's gotten hold of a supply of Whisperers. He's planning to use them against other D'Haran officers. Destroy the villages. If we don't find Grix, he could wipe out half your clientele. If you know where he is, you'd better tell me.
Denna: He left. When you find him, and I'm certain you will, remind him he still owes me for the damage he caused. The general and his men drank too much, and destroyed one of my finest suites.
Richard: I'll pass that along.
Denna: As pleasant as this has been, I have other guests to attend to. But I hope you'll both indulge yourselves while you're here. Compliments of the house, of course. It's the least I can do for old friends.
[walks away, the low cut of her dress, down to the small of her back, giving Richard the full wattage of her appeal]

Sister: I've gotten to know you, Richard. You would never leave innocent women at the mercy of a monster.
Richard: I'd hardly call the Sisters of the Light innocent women. You've lied to me, held me captive and separated me from the people I love most in the world. But worst of all, you've used your piety as an excuse to take away my freedom.
Sister: Everything I've done I've done with the best intentions.
Richard: I don't need training to tell you Wizard's Second Rule: "The greatest harm can result from the best intentions."

Zeddicus: Rachel, you are now the most important person in the world.
Rachel: Don't worry, it will be easy to get out. Everyone treats me like I'm invisible anyway.

Richard: [reading from The Book Of Counted Shadows] "Orden is a voracious wolf. Its strength rivaled only by its insatiable appetite. Only one power can touch the beast's heart and tame it."
[to the Wizard: ]
Richard: What kind of magic can tame the power of Orden? Somehow make it safe to use?
Zeddicus: I've never heard of a magic stronger than the power of Orden.
Richard: You once said of all the power in the world, there's none more powerful than love.
Zeddicus: It's an old expression.
Richard: As old as The Book Of Counted Shadows?
Zeddicus: What are you thinking?
Richard: That the one force that can touch the beast's heart and tame it, is love.

Richard: [as defeated slavers take flight] Follow them into the forest! Hunt them down! And kill them all!

Richard: [magical iron collar] So all we have to do is get this thing around the beast's neck?
Kahlan: I think Marius can help with that.
Marius: [confessed] How may I serve you?
Kahlan: You're going to be the bait.

Lilly: We can share the bounty, and whatever else you'd be interested in.

Darken: [conjured up] Sister Nicci, you spent your life praying to be united with the Keeper. Now here you are back in the world of the living.
Sister: My sisters brought me back so I could do what you and your minions failed to do time and again: capture the Mother Confessor.
Darken: If you have the Mother Confessor, then why are you not laying her lifeless body at my feet?
Sister: I sent word to the margrave of Rothenberg asking him to send his Gars for her. She's in the margrave's dungeon. A place where the Seeker and his friends will be unable to use magic to rescue her.
Darken: [taunting] Very clever. So clever, in fact, that I'm left wondering what you could possibly need from me.
Sister: In exchange for turning the Mother Confessor over to me, the margrave wants a guarantee, signed in the Keeper's blood, that when the Keeper puts an end to all life, he and his court will be granted eternal immunity from death.
Darken: Do you think the Keeper is interested in almost winning?
Sister: Remember the Prophecy, Darken Rahl. As long as the Mother Confessor's pure heart beats, the Keeper is doomed to fail.
[shakes her head]
Sister: A handful of lives isn't many to spare in exchange for millions.
Darken: I will convey your message to the Keeper. And persuade him to accept your terms.

Cara: [she heard him use the word 'discipline' and so...] When my servants dropped things and began to grumble and whine, it was never too long before they fell back in line.
The: Tell me how you manage it, princess.
Cara: Once, long ago, I was training a slave, who endeavored most stubbornly not to behave. So I cut off a finger or two with a knife, and threatened to slaughter his child and his wife. Then I stripped him naked, and strapped to a horse, I dragged him through miles of bramble and gorse. I rubbed salt into his wounds, and rolled him in rubble. That was the last time he gave any trouble.
The: Impressive. I'll have to give it a try.

Gryff: Who are you?
Old: Someone who can give you what you truly want.
Gryff: What are you talking about?
Old: You want a life of adventure. You don't wanna be married.
Gryff: There's nothing anyone can do to change that.
Old: Change? There is much I can change. I can change you into the Seeker. When others look on you, they'll see Richard Cypher. And when they look on Cypher, they will see you.
Gryff: How can you do that?
Old: [chuckling] It's already done.

Darken: [as the last remaining Mord-Sith revives Sister Nicci] Welcome back from the dead, Nicci. I have great plans for you now that it appears my brother has defeated the Keeper. But first, I'm going to draw you a nice, warm bath.
[she stares at him aghast]

[Last lines]
Zeddicus: Kahlan.
Leo: Cara.
Kahlan: What are you two doing here?
Leo: We were heading south but then the compass suddenly changed direction. And it lead us here.
Kahlan: If the compass lead you to us and we're traveling towards Richard, then... the compass must be guiding us all back to him.

Darken: A captured Confessor is quite a prize, Giller.
Giller: Yes, my Lord.
Darken: So your elixir works?
Giller: Her magic had no effect on me.
Darken: You have made more progress than I thought, Giller.
[at this praise, Giller proudly nods]
Darken: Are you sure you can harness the Confessor's powers?
Giller: Soon her powers will be yours, my Lord.
Darken: Mm.

[first lines]
Jennsen: [little sister not anxious to eat dinner she prepared:] I thought you liked my stew?
Marilee: I don't like beets.
Jennsen: [whispering] That's why I put all yours in your father's bowl.
[normal: ]
Jennsen: Now go wash your hands.
[the little girl runs along]
Sean: [bursting into room] Jennsen, you've got to run, the D'Harans are here! They're raiding people's homes looking for you and the Boxes of Orden!
Jennsen: How did they...?
Sean: Hurry! They're on their way!

Kahlan: You're playing with ancient powers that you don't understand. I've seen your creations. Prisoners infected with dark magic.
Giller: That will soon change. Thanks to those D'Haran butchers, I've only been able to study the bodies of dead Confessors. But now... I can use the Shurkia to harvest your powers, and bestow them on Lord Rahl.

Kahlan: Take me to the seeker.
Zeddicus: [Looking at Richard] He's here.
Kahlan: Him? But he's...
Zeddicus: What? Not good enough? You wanted a Seeker, there he is. If he's not up to your standards, well, that's fine by me. Find yourself another.
Richard: [barely awake] Seeker? What are you talking about?
Kahlan: You never told him? You were supposed to train him, prepare him. What have you been doing for the past 20 years?
Zeddicus: Letting him catch worms, steal apples, skin his knees, find out what makes his heart beat faster.
Kahlan: [outraged] My sister gave her life to make sure that I got here, to make sure that I put the book in the Seeker's hands, and he's catching worms?
Zeddicus: Never knew a great man who didn't have a little dirt under his nails.
Kahlan: And while he's getting his nails dirty, did it ever occur to you to give him the slightest inkling that he is the first true Seeker in the last thousand years? He has a destiny.
Zeddicus: Who are you to decide a man's destiny?
Kahlan: It's not me, it's the prophecy.
Zeddicus: Prophecy be damned! I averted the prophecy when I brought him here until you opened up a nice little door in the boundary and said "Right this way to the Seeker, ladies and gentlemen!"
Kahlan: So it doesn't matter that Darken Rahl is growing more powerful everyday, that the people in the Midlands are losing their freedom, dying by the thousands?

Cara: [towers over downed slaver with her Agiel held threateningly] Take a message to Caldor. Leave the Minders alone.
Roga: I won't let you hurt him!
Cara: I'm just gonna teach him a lesson.
Roga: Yes. The same lesson you've both been taught all your lives. That violence will help you.
Cara: [scoffs] Do what you want. I'm through with you.
Roga: [to the rogue] Go in peace. Serve the Creator, and she will reward you.
[the slaver grabs this opportunity to scurry off, and Cara smirks]

Darken: [before he dips his quill in the blood of the dying Queen] Have no fear for your daughter, Your Highness. She'll grow up surrounded by the most precious jewels. As a slave in the deepest caverns of the Mines of Athanasia.

Cara: I suggested we celebrate your birthday the Mord-Sith way.
Richard: I didn't know Mord-Siths celebrate birthdays.
Cara: We don't.

Jack: This is your fault. You and your friends.
Kahlan: [as she tends his wounds] I guess you should've stolen someone else's horses.
Jack: I needed them, to buy magic.
Kahlan: What did you use it for?
Jack: A girl.
Kahlan: A girl?
Jack: Yeah.
Kahlan: Tell me about her.
Jack: Her name's Miranda. She works at the flower stand. Prettiest in the whole town! But she won't even look at me, unless I use the potion.
Kahlan: Have you tried talking to her?
Jack: I don't know what to say. I can't even think when I'm around her.
[Kahlan smiles]
Jack: Of course! You could confess Miranda. Make her like me! Not just for a few minutes, but all the time!
Kahlan: [shakes her head] I could never use my power in that way, Jack.
[smiles]
Kahlan: Love is a choice we make.
[shakes her head]
Kahlan: If you take away that choice, it's not really love, is it?
[shakes her head]
Kahlan: Someone loving you, wanting to be with you, because you forced them? Trust me...
[shakes her head]
Kahlan: It won't make you happy.

Princess: Now, show the puppeteer what I taught you before I hit you again.
Rachel: How do you do, kind Sir?
[her hand goes to her cheek, rubbing where it still hurts]
Zeddicus: [smiling] Very well, thank you. And it is indeed a pleasure to make your acquaintance. May I ask your name?
Rachel: [softly] Rachel.
Zeddicus: Hmm.
[smiles]

Kahlan: [as Cara settles in for the night] I've never heard you laugh before.
Cara: [annoyed] Aren't you supposed to be asleep?
[but, thinking of Leo, smiles by herself]

Cara: [Sword of Truth awakens longing in Kahlan] Is something wrong?
Kahlan: [shakes her head] I miss Richard.
Cara: Why?
Kahlan: [sighs, wipes off tears] Because I love him. And I'm not used to being apart from him.
Cara: [frowns] It's not necessary to feel pain over his absence.
Kahlan: Don't you feel anything?
Cara: Mord-Sith believe emotions must be governed. Sadness, remorse, love... These feelings make you weak. But anger, loyalty, pride... These feelings make you powerful. I can teach you how to control your emotions, if you like.
Kahlan: I'm not sure love makes a person weak, Cara.
Cara: Then why are you sitting on the ground, weeping over a sword?
Kahlan: [chuckles tearfully] Thank you for your advice... but, uh, I think I'll be all right.
[smiles]

Cara: [holding her Agiel poised to strike] Where's the treasure?
Flynn: I'm not afraid of you. Do you know what horrible things they did to me at Tothrayne?
Cara: [fond memories] Intimately.
Flynn: I didn't break when they put me on the rack. Or when they threw me in the drowning pool. Or when they spun me on the wheel of pain. Torture me all you want. You'll be wasting your time.
Cara: Oh, I don't wanna torture you. I have other ways of loosening your tongue.
[tosses her Agiel on the bed, and climbs onto bed to join Flynn]
Cara: After the awful way they treated you in that place, I can see why you would hire those women to bring you some comfort. But I'll do things to you those women can't even imagine. Many know of a Mord-Sith's ability to bring pain. But few know we're equally skilled at bringing pleasure. First, I'm going to...
[whispers something outrageous into his ear, which he just loves]
Cara: And then I'll...
[whispers something even more outrageous into his ear, which he loves even more]
Cara: But first, you need to tell me where...
Flynn: In a cave, three leagues outside town, by the fork in the river!
Cara: [grabs him by collar, pulls him up from bed] Get dressed!
Flynn: But I told you where the treasure was.
Cara: Take me to it!
[holsters Agiel]
Cara: Now.
Flynn: But what about that thing you were going to do? And that other thing sounded good too.
[gets yanked around and thrown at the door like a rag doll]
Flynn: All right, all right, just the first thing then!

Zeddicus: The only way to free Kahlan is to kill her, then bring her back with the Breath of Life.
[a conflicted Cara has her bow aimed at the departing rider, but...]
Zeddicus: She was moving too fast.
Cara: No! I hesitated. Because for one stupid moment I was worried I couldn't revive her.
[mounts horse]
Zeddicus: She was your friend.
Cara: That's what traveling with you people has done to me. Made me weak.
Zeddicus: No, Cara! Your hesitation wasn't weakness. It was a strength, an instinct to preserve life rather than snuff it out. Without that instinct,
[shakes her head]
Zeddicus: what are we fighting for?

Shota: I promised King Gregor that his kingdom would be protected forever. So I cursed the royal scepter. Whoever inherits the kingdom, inherits the curse.

Garren: [sleeping under stars, Lord Rahl awakes with gasp] A nightmare, My Lord?
Darken: No. A warning.
Garren: [wipes her Master's sweaty brow] It's still hours till first light. Perhaps you could sleep better... if I eased your mind.
Darken: I've already wasted enough time.
Garren: Where are we going, My Lord?
Darken: Not we. If my plan goes as anticipated, I need you to perform another task.

Richard: [as moonlight bathes sanctuary, he approaches red-robed figure] Who are you?
Sister: [lifts up veil, has beautiful face] I am Sister Nicci.
Richard: [recognizes] I saw you today with the Prelate.
Sister: Yes. She considers me one of her closest advisers.
Richard: Why did you ask me here?
Sister: To tell you a secret that could get me killed. But you must know the truth.
Richard: What truth?

[first lines]
Darken: [to the assembled Mord-Sith warriors all kneeling around him] The Seeker now has all three Boxes of Orden. And The Book Of Counted Shadows.
Cara: My Lord...
Darken: Yes, Cara?
Cara: I'm looking around, and I don't see any of us groveling at the Seeker's feet begging to be commanded. If he truly has the power of Orden, he would have used it already.
Darken: There must be some reason he hasn't. But I'm not willing to wait around to find out when he does. We kill him... tonight.
Cara: If you'd given me the task... he'd already be dead. Tell us where he is.
Darken: He was last seen yesterday. Somewhere around West Granthia.
Cara: He's somewhere? In a province that crosses two rivers, a mountain range and six-hundred leagues of forest? Forgive me, my Lord, but my sisters and I are Mord-Sith, we are not magicians. How will we find him?
Darken: [grabs her face] Tell me, Cara... How does a sea hawk find a tiny fish in a great wide ocean?

Richard: [seething] And what is it that you want?
Sister: You're going to lead me to the Stone of Tears. And if any of you attempt to follow us, Kahlan will die.
Zeddicus: And so will you!
Sister: I serve the Keeper. I'm not afraid of death. Neither are the four powerful Sisters of the Dark who are trying to kill me and take my han.

Kahlan: [held captive] What do you want from me?
Darken: Your understanding.
Kahlan: I understand you perfectly. You take whatever you want.
Darken: You're wrong, Kahlan. If I were simply to take whatever I wanted, you'd already be in my bed-chamber. Oh, don't worry, I shan't lay a finger on you... until I'm invited.
Kahlan: [contemptuously] Then you'll be waiting an eternity!
Darken: You're being very selfish, Kahlan. As my Queen, you can bring comforts to the sick... rebuild razed villages... create homes for the poor children orphaned in this terrible war your Seeker and his misguided followers have waged against me.
Kahlan: You're afraid that even if Richard is gone, people will still believe everything he stood for. They'll blame you for his death, keep fighting you, and if you think I'm gonna help you quell their anger, you're as mad as you are cruel!
Darken: Yes, Kahlan, I do want to quell the people's anger. With the power of your love.
Kahlan: [contemptuously] I would rather die than be your puppet!
Darken: Perhaps some time in a cold damp dungeon, where your love and compassion will be of no use to anyone, will help you reconsider.
[as: ]
Darken: Oh, and if you're expecting to be warmed by the flame of hope, know this: My sorcerers examined the spot where the Seeker disappeared. They were unanimous. No one could have survived the explosion of magic.
Kahlan: [as she is taken away] You haven't won! You still have powerful enemies!
Darken: And I will destroy them one... by one.

Sirian: [Ella screams, Sirian comes running, aiming his bow at Cara] Get away from my daughter.
Grace: It's alright, mama's here.
Cara: I'm not here to hurt anybody.
Sirian: Then leave now, before I put this arrow through your eye.
Grace: [Cara prepares to leave] Wait.
Sirian: Grace, stay away from her.
Grace: Cara?
Cara: Yes.
Sirian: You know her?
Grace: She's my sister.

Kahlan: If we don't give in to Rahl"s proposition, the Scroll will be ashes before we get to the temple.
Zeddicus: I never thought I'd say this, but that devious bastard has us by our nethers.

Kahlan: Richard, we should get moving.
Lilly: [to Richard] Well, if you ever come back this way, maybe we'll see each other again.
Kahlan: [smiling] You'd better hope not.

Zeddicus: [as Richard stares at Kahlan] None of that, boy.
Richard: What?
Zeddicus: I see the way you're looking at her.
Richard: [scoffs] I don't know what you're talking about.
Zeddicus: You think because I'm old I don't remember what it's like to get my britches in a bunch over a beautiful woman?
Richard: My britches aren't in a bunch.
Zeddicus: Bunched britches, lurching loins, hot haunches... call it what you want. It can never be. Not with her.
Richard: [shakes his head] Why are you telling me this?
Zeddicus: Because you need to concentrate on finding Fane. Keep your eyes on the trail up ahead, not on her posterior.

Zeddicus: I'd give all the riches in the world not to have to place such a terrible burden on you. If there was any other way, I...
Rachel: Don't be sad, Ruben, I can do it. I want to do it.

Richard: What do you think they're buying?
Zeddicus: Magical weapon, torture device...
Richard: It's a boy!
Zeddicus: [holding Richard back] We're no good to the child if we're dead.

Kahlan: We can name a new Seeker, but we can never replace Richard.

[Last lines]
Richard: Love isn't something to fear, Kahlan.
Kahlan: For me it is.

Flynn: [re the rune on his hand] Seems this is worth quite a bit to you. At least as much as the treasure. You want me to go with you to this Pamorah? It will cost you.
Richard: [shakes his head] You're not getting the treasure.
Flynn: Well, then I guess I'm not going anywhere. And this hand...
[holds it up, showing off the etch]
Flynn: goes where I go.
Cara: Not if I cut it off.
Flynn: [swayed] When do we leave?
Richard: [to Cara] Lock him up in the warden's office until we deal with the banelings.
[she gleefully yanks Flynn along]

Denna: You surprise me, Seeker. You could have run, might even have made it to the main gate. But you gave up your one chance at freedom. All for a child you'd never met. Why?
Richard: To keep her from becoming like you!

Zeddicus: When there is no way, the Seeker will find a path. Lesson number four.
Richard: You said the last one was number four.
Zeddicus: Number five, then!
Richard: Are you making this up?

Darken: [entering dungeon] Denna.
Denna: [lightly clad, suspended by her wrists] My Lord.
Darken: Why do you make me hurt you like this?
Denna: I'm sorry I failed you, my Lord.
Darken: So you claim to me many times. The fact remains, you let the Seeker slip from your grasp.
Denna: I deserve my punishment.
[shakes her head]
Denna: And more.
[he kisses her, his toxic kiss causes her mouth to burn]
Denna: Release me, and I will show you such pleasure that all will be forgiven.
Darken: Pleasure, alas, must wait. I have learned the exact location of the Third Box of Orden, but my men have failed to retrieve it.
Denna: Send me. I will succeed.
Darken: I should never have send men to do a Mord-Sith's job.
[strokes her face in a brutal way]
Darken: But you would not want to disappoint me again, Denna.
Denna: [suffering] I will return with the box.
Darken: Yes. But you will not be able to do it alone. First, you need to capture the one person... that I fear the most in all the world.
Denna: The Seeker will not escape me again.
Darken: No, no, no. Someone far more fearsome than he.

Richard: I don't think the amulet was the only thing that split in two. Don't ask me to explain it. We need to get to Zedd.
[Cara reaches for her Agiel]
Richard: Not like that.
Cara: [impatiently] Then how do you propose we get to him?

Dahlia: [after getting knocked down] Cara, it's me!
Cara: Dahlia?
Richard: Do you know her?
Cara: [as Dahlia gets up] We served together for many years.
Richard: [to Dahlia] Why were you following us?
Dahlia: The true Lord Rahl is in danger. I need your help to save him.
Cara: Darken Rahl may have used magic to come back to the world of the living, but Richard is the true Lord Rahl.
Dahlia: [shakes her head] I'm not talking about Darken Rahl... or the Seeker. I'm talking about your son.
[all eyes on Cara]
Richard: You have a son?
Cara: Many Mord-Sith bear children.
Dahlia: But not many bear children fathered by Darken Rahl.
Richard: [looks at Cara sharply] Why didn't you tell us?
Cara: It wasn't important.
Kahlan: What happened to the child?
Cara: He was taken from me at birth.
Kahlan: [softly] Cara, I'm so sorry.
Cara: [snaps] Don't be! It was considered an honor to be chosen by Lord Rahl.
Richard: Do you know where the baby was taken?
Cara: Male children born to the Mord-Sith are sent to the Dragon Corps to learn how to fight for D'Hara.
Dahlia: When Darken Rahl died, my sisters and I went to find the boy. We took him back to our temple and served him like the true Lord Rahl he will one day become. Then, a week ago, our temple was raided by the Sisters of the Dark.
Cara: The Sisters' powers are useless against Mord-Sith.
Dahlia: We thought so too. But they've grown stronger. We couldn't repel their magic. I was the only Mord-Sith to survive. The Sisters took the boy.
Zeddicus: Where?
Dahlia: I tracked them to a retreat in the hills of Eritrane. But I knew I wouldn't be able to rescue him on my own. So I came to find you.
Cara: We have more important things to do than chase after a missing child.
Dahlia: Cara, there's nothing more important than your son. He's the future of D'Hara. And he needs your help.

Sister: [leading assault] Once we've passed through the barrier, we'll head for the south entrance.
Sister of the Dark: Are you sure the serum will protect us?
Sister: Don't worry, sister. If it fails, you'll meet the Keeper sooner than you had ever hoped.

Ashgar: When I stand before Darken Rahl tomorrow, I will tell him that I took it upon myself to flay the traitor alive, tied to a pole at the crosswalk, where all the passers-by can watch the crows feast on his eyeballs and learn from his example.

Zeddicus: [captive] What is it you want with me, Denna?
Denna: Right now I want you to cover our tracks.
[doesn't obey, has to endure Agiel]
Zeddicus: All right, all right! Enough!
[magically covers tracks]
Denna: Keep moving, Wizard.

Michael: What are you doing here, Chase?
Chase: If I'm to save this village, I need every able-bodied man back under my command.
Michael: You're not the captain of the guard anymore. You lost that honor when you sided with my brother.
Chase: There are monsters out there, killing our people. Citizens that you as First Councilor are sworn to protect. Now let me do my job.

Cara: The air's getting thinner.
Kahlan: There's one way to double how long it lasts.
[looks intently at Cara]
Kahlan: Kill me.
Cara: [their eyes meet] Has the lack of air driven you mad?
Kahlan: It could give Richard the time he needs to find us. And when he does, you could give me the breath of life.
Cara: As tempting as the offer to kill you may be,
[shakes her head]
Cara: Richard will never forgive me if I let you die.
Kahlan: But I'd only be dead for a short time. And then you could bring me back.
Cara: It's too big a risk. We don't know how long it's gonna take Richard to find us. But there is another way. I'll die instead.
Kahlan: I can't bring you back.
Cara: But you can live.
Kahlan: Cara, no! If you die, your death would be final.
Cara: Better one of us than both of us.

Kahlan: You're not the Creator. The Sisters of the Light created you. The prelate lied to you, just like she did to Richard.

Cara: [little fairies fly about] People have tried for years to find the forest of the Night Wisps.
Zeddicus: Had you come here alone, they never would have shown themselves. They only come out for those they trust.

Cara: Am I the only one who finds it a little suspicious that when we were just asking ourselves what we should do when we find the Stone, and suddenly a mysterious man shows up saying he knows where the instructions are?

Clayre,: [deceitful couple got locked up] If you were the real Seeker, you'd have sacrificed yourself and let the woman get away.
Frytss,: When a real woman comes along, I'll do just that.

[last lines]
Cara: [hands over compass to Richard] You're going to need this back. We have a quest to get back to.

Sister: [to the raven] A srrand of the Mother Confessor's hair. You have served the Keeper well.

Cara: Our thief won't be going anywhere without us.
Richard: You brought him back without a scratch. How did you manage that?
Cara: I have other methods.
Richard: What kind of methods?
[meaningful silence]
Richard: Well, however you did it, it's good work.
Cara: Did you expect anything less?
Richard: I'm just glad to have you on our side.
Cara: Maybe you can tell Zedd and Kahlan that they can stop sleeping with weapons under their pillows.

Flynn: [carrying corpse] I need a horse. I have to bury my brother.
Cara: [sternly] We need the horses to get provision. You can bury him outside with the others.
Flynn: I'm not burying my brother alongside the D'Harans who killed him. He should be laid to rest beside our mother and father.
Kahlan: [entering with man] We're going to need fresh water.
Flynn: [to Cara] My village is only a day's ride. I'll have the horse back to you in the morning.
Kahlan: [to the man] Check the cistern.
Cara: [to Flynn, harshly] Do it quickly.
[then,: ]
Cara: I'm so sorry for your loss.
[but with no compassion in her eyes]

Devlin: It won't be easy getting in.
Chase: It won't be easy for those D'Haran bastards to keep me out.

Kahlan: I was just thinking about James. The world he created. It would have been nice to visit... now and then...
Richard: [wistfully] I know what you mean.

Kahlan: I'm sorry I had to make you tell me something you didn't want to.
Zeddicus: I've kept that secret buried for twenty years. I'd like it to remain buried. And by your honor as a Confessor, you must never tell Richard.

Roga: Hungry?
[offers berries]
Cara: [haughty] Not particularly.
Roga: Don't you like winterberries?
Cara: Maybe stuffed inside a crisply roasted suckling pig.
Roga: Try one. You may be surprised.
[Cara deigns to sample one]
Roga: Good... Right?

Kahlan: [sleepless, after staring up at starry sky] Richard... Richard!
Richard: What's wrong? Are you all right?
Kahlan: Oh, yeah, I'm fine, everything's fine. It's just... I need to talk to you.
[looks over her shoulder at Cara on guard duty]
Kahlan: Alone.
Richard: [to Cara] We're going to take a walk.

Richard: [marital shackles] If these things are uncomfortable, we can take them off.
Bronwyn: [frowns] What's wrong with you?
[shakes her head]
Bronwyn: You know tradition doesn't allow it. It stays on until morning. After we've spend our first night together as man and wife.

Kahlan: Richard is the Seeker!
Shota: Of course you would say that about the man you love. But I didn't come here expecting your help.
[to: ]
Shota: I came hoping for yours.
Cara: Why would I help you?
Shota: Because you don't care who bears the name of Seeker. You only care about protecting Richard Rahl. But if he continues on this doomed quest, the Keeper will win and he will die along with everyone else in the world. Now, Zedd can't use his magic against you. If you subdue him, then I can force him to do what must be done.
Cara: Funny how people always curse the Mord-Sith.
[cold smile]
Cara: Until they need one.
Shota: Do you want Richard to live, or don't you?
Cara: You're right. Wizards can't use their magic against a Mord-Sith. And neither can witches.
[draws Agiel, zaps Shota, brings her to her knees]
Cara: There's only one way to stop that from happening again. Undo the spell you put on Zedd!

Zeddicus: The only way to kill banelings is to burn them. We'll need oil and torches.
Cara: Why not just use Wizard's Fire?
Zeddicus: I don't think that would be wise.
Cara: [eyes narrowed] It's because I'm a Mord-Sith, isn't it? You think that if you use your magic, I'll turn it against you. I've had chances before.
Zeddicus: With the Seeker and Confessor nearby. And now you know where the tomb is.
Cara: Do you honestly think that's why I followed Richard all this way? In the hopes that he'd send me here with you... alone, so that I could steal the stone for myself?
Zeddicus: Probably not. But what's at stake is far too important to rely on probability.
Cara: [heard something] I don't believe you have the luxury of caution.

Richard: If we don't find Flynn and get the Stone Of Tears, the Keeper will destroy every living thing. So you can come with us, or you can go after Cara.
Kahlan: [after a moment of silence] If I ever see her again, I'll kill her.

Zeddicus: Wizard's second rule: The greatest harm can come from the best intentions.

Brigid: He speaks the truth! I think we've all seen that Darken Rahl will do anything to bring peace to the midlands. What was Lord Rahl to do? Face the seeker as a grown man who could defend himself and carry out the prophecy? No. He had to kill our children! The seeker stood up to the patrols this morning. He saved that girl's life! No one else has had the courage to do that! If we betray the seeker because we are afraid, then the children of Brennidon died for nothing! I'm the one you're looking for! I am the seeker's mother! But I will never help you find him.

[first lines]
Cara: It's a good thing Mord-Siths are used to torture, because that's exactly what eating this stew will be.
Richard: [takes sniff] Well, maybe Zedd and Kahlan will find some mushrooms.
Cara: It's gonna take more than mushrooms to save this.

Zeddicus: Did he hurt the boy?
Kahlan: Mostly just scared the wits out of him. But there was an anger in Richard's eyes I'd never seen before.
[shakes her head]
Kahlan: Bitter... and harsh.
Cara: Maybe you're just upset because Richard raised his voice at you.
Kahlan: You weren't there. Had you seen what happened, you'd know something was wrong. The Sword was glowing.
Zeddicus: Glowing?
Cara: Does that mean something?
Zeddicus: The magic of the Sword is fueled by the Seeker's anger. With it, he's able to fight with the strength of many men. The Sword only glows... when the Seeker's anger turns to rage.
Kahlan: He was out of control. Could this have something to do with removing the binding spell from the Minders?
Zeddicus: I don't know. But I need to see him!

Cara: [has Sister Nicci prisoner] Richard! I was chasing a buck, but I found something better.

Kahlan: What kind of spell was that?
Zeddicus: It wasn't a spell. I made it up. Allard couldn't let go of his fear until I made him think magic had driven it out. He may not believe in himself, but he believes in the power of a Great Wizard.
Kahlan: [laughing] You're a crafty old devil, Zedd.

Zeddicus: [villagers avoid them] You and your Agiels don't exactly inspire a warm welcome.
Cara: I've learned it can be more useful to be feared than liked.

Cara: You were right.
Kahlan: About what?
Cara: You once told me that it's a hard world, and that we don't get many chances to tell people how much they mean to us. There's no one a Mord-Sith should hate more... than a Confessor. I was trained to hate you. But I don't. And I don't wanna die without you knowing... that I consider you to be... my friend.
Kahlan: [smiles] I think of you as a friend too.
[hugs her, not something Cara can easily return, but she gives a little try]
Kahlan: We're going to get out of here. We both know Richard. He's coming for us. He just needs a little more time.
Cara: I know. And I'm gonna make sure he gets it.
[gets up, and runs to the sword]
Kahlan: Cara, no!

Richard: I can't believe that Kahlan's not real! How can I just imagine feeling like that about somebody?
Zeddicus: We all have our little fantasies.

King: I reminded Shota that our kingdom was all that separated her from Rahl's tightening grip. That if Caddock were overrun, Agaden Reach would soon follow. So I struck a bargain with her. In exchange for my pledge to defend her, she promised to give me the power to protect my kingdom forever.
Zeddicus: And how exactly did she do that?
King: She cursed me. Each night, I would be transformed into a Calthrop.

Salindra: [chuckles] Oh, Drago, you always were a man who overestimated what he had in his quiver.
Drago: [to his men] Kill her first!

Richard: They murdered all those people, unarmed women and children, just because they gave me food and shelter a few months ago.
Kahlan: Richard, Darken Rahl's been killing innocent people long before you got to the Midlands.

Richard: Confessors?
Kahlan: An ancient order of woman sworn to find the truth, no matter how hard people may try to hide it. And if a Seeker should arise, to protect him with her life. My name is Kahlan. I'm sorry for threatening you today. You did save my life.

Kahlan: [hanging corpses] These men were tortured.
Cara: [slashed faces, but...] It's not very inspired work.

Richard: How'd you find me?
Zeddicus: I spelled your shoes!
Richard: [laughs] That old trick!
Zeddicus: You think I'd let you walk off with that witch without knowing how we'd get you back?
Richard: [to Kahlan] I'm so sorry for everything that happened to you.
Kahlan: I'm fine, now that I know you're safe.
Cara: [to Richard] You seem to be all in one piece.
Richard: It's good to see you too, Cara.
Kahlan: What happened to Nicci?
Richard: She's still out there.

Lilly: You can't risk helping me. You need to keep moving. The Seeker is too important.

Richard: Can't you lift the curse?
Zeddicus: Only the one who made it can break it. I'll go to Agaden Reach and try to reason with Shota.
Marius: Are you sure? Few who have gone there have ever returned.
Zeddicus: I know. I'm one of those few.
King: And if you fail? What then? I can't bear the thought of killing another innocent person.
Richard: While Zedd's gone, I'll watch over you and keep you from harming anyone.
Marius: How? The monster can break through our strongest chains.
Zeddicus: I may have a few tricks that your blacksmith doesn't.

Richard: Kahlan, why did you do that?
Kahlan: Do what?
Richard: What is this? You take your clothes off. You swim that close to me...
Kahlan: Take my clothes off? What are you talking about?
Richard: [notices] Your hair's dry.
[realizes: ]
Richard: That wasn't you in the lake.
Kahlan: Your hair's wet. That wasn't you in the forest.
[realizes: ]
Kahlan: Someone has got some very powerful magic.
Richard: [draws his sword] Someone very close by.
[realizes: ]
Richard: Oh, no...!
Kahlan: What?
Richard: I know my sword, and this isn't it.
Kahlan: Someone stole the Sword of Truth? How did that happen?
Richard: I was distracted.
Kahlan: [exasperated] By a naked woman you went swimming with.
Richard: But I thought that was you. They can't be far! I'll look for tracks by the lake. You go up the path!

Kahlan: [on Cara's shoulders, grasping for the torch] I can almost reach it. Stand on your toes.
Cara: [strained] I am.
[Kahlan falls hard, gasps with pain]
Cara: The torches are using less air than we are trying to knock them out.

Cara: What's wrong?
Kahlan: [dazedly shakes her head] Nothing. It was just a bad dream.
Richard: Tell me about it.
Kahlan: I was in a desert. There was a bird. And a blind girl.
Zeddicus: The starless blackbird of Caska.
Flynn: [awakened] I'm trying to sleep here.
Zeddicus: That wasn't any ordinary dream. That was a message. It belongs to a Dream Caster. A magical clan of nomads living in the desert far away from here. Every generation, a blackbird befriends a small child. That child is then recognized as the High Priestess and has the power to send dreams on the wings of birds.
Kahlan: The girl in my dream, she told me soon I would be the last of my kind.
Zeddicus: Could be a warning the line of Confessors is in danger.
Kahlan: I have to go to Valeria, make sure my sister's safe!
Cara: Valeria? That's hundreds of leagues from here!
Richard: You can't travel alone. I'll go with you.
Cara: I thought there was nothing more important than taking him
[grabs Flynn's hand]
Cara: and his magic rune to Pamorah to find the Stone of Tears.
Richard: Zedd, you go on ahead with Cara and Flynn. We'll catch up with you as soon as we can.
Cara: It's a waste of time.
[walks away]
Kahlan: Why do you say that?
Cara: The Confessors living on Valeria are dead. When Darken Rahl found out there was a male Confessor living on Valeria, he ordered us to bring him the child. But when we stormed the island, the mother sacrificed the baby so we couldn't take it.
Kahlan: And the mother?
Cara: She was eliminated.
Kahlan: My sister? Dennee is dead?
Cara: There was no pain.
[sighs]
Cara: I killed her swiftly.
Richard: [Kahlan is enraged and her pupils become dark] Kahlan?
Flynn: [horrified witnessing transformation] What's happening to her?
Zeddicus: It's the Con Dar!
Richard: Kahlan?
Zeddicus: Stay back!
[to: ]
Zeddicus: You have to leave now!
Cara: I only did what I was ordered to.
Richard: [struggling to hold down virtual tigress Kahlan has become] I can't hold her much longer! Run!
Cara: But I swore to serve you.
Richard: [yells] That isn't possible anymore! Get out of here now!
[Cara runs]

Kieren: Viviane! Viviane! Wait! Where are you going?
Viviane: Amfortas thinks it's too dangerous for me to stay at your side.
Kieren: How could he? He swore he wouldn't send you away.
Viviane: He says you think more of me than you do of your quest.
Kieren: Viviane... we belong to each other.
Viviane: We never can... and you know why.
Kieren: Because your love would enslave me?
Viviane: Yes.
Kieren: Viviane, there's no harm you could do to me.
Viviane: Kieren...
Kieren: Viviane, I would do anything that you ask, because I'm already yours to command.

Jennsen: We have to stop him.
Darken: How?
Jennsen: If I can remember where I hid those boxes, you can get to them first.

Cara: [strung up with chains, badly beaten] Where's Zedd?
Darken: Your concern for the Wizard is touching. I shall put your tender heart at ease. He's alive... for now.
Cara: What do you want with us?
Darken: Isn't it obvious? I want you back on my side. Though I must admit, you haven't made it easy for me. I may no longer have armies at my command, but fortunately, I knew of your special friendship with Dahlia. I knew she would want you back as much as I do.
Cara: My son was never kidnapped, was he?
Darken: Your son was killed the day he was born. I couldn't risk the little bastard growing up to challenge my authority, now, could I? Oh, Cara, has that made you sad? You really have grown soft since you started serving the Seeker, haven't you? It's my fault, I suppose. I left your training to underlings. But someone as valuable as you deserves my personal attention.
[picks up Agiel]
Darken: This time, I won't make the same mistake.

[first lines]
Zeddicus: [returning dagger] Thanks for letting me borrow this, though I can't say it helped me sleep more soundly.
Kahlan: [as Cara tends her horse] It's gonna take a while to get used to having a Mord-Sith in camp.
Zeddicus: Well, if Richard trusts Cara, I suppose we'll have to learn to as well.

Salindra: I'm so frightened for you.
Young: About what?
Salindra: Do you promise you won't do anything crazy and reckless?
Young: Salindra... tell me.
Salindra: When I was in the Underworld...
[shakes her head]
Salindra: in that awful, terrible place, I heard Darken Rahl talking to the Keeper. They're happy that you've taken up the Seeker's quest. They think that... while you're chasing after the Stone of Tears, they will have time to destroy us all. But there's one thing that... they're terrified of.
Young: What?
Salindra: They're terrified that you are going to be marching into the rift and battle the Keeper with the Sword of Truth.
[shakes her head]
Salindra: Oh, Zeddicus, I'm so afraid you will try something like that.

Mistress: [enters with journey book] Mistress Dahlia.
Dahlia: What is it?
Mistress: Orders from the People's Palace. We're to proceed to Stowecroft right away. We're to find a schoolteacher. Her name is Cara.
Dahlia: Cara Mason?
Mistress: You know her?
Dahlia: A long time ago... when we were children. Before I joined my true family.
[smiles, takes journey book, reads orders]
Mistress: What else does it say, mistress?
Dahlia: Our orders are to kill her.

Leo: [Cara overhears him as he stealthily approaches] I'll take over your watch, so you can get some sleep.
Cara: I'm not tired.
Leo: Considering how easy it was for me to sneak up on you just now, obviously you need some rest.
Cara: It would be impossible... for you to sneak up on me.
Leo: [scoffs softly, realizes he needs different tactic, sighs, then sees horses] So, Cara...
Cara: Yes... Leo?
Leo: [grins] Do you like animals?
Cara: Ones that taste good.
Leo: I meant, do you like pets?
Cara: I once had a dog.
Leo: [whispers conspirationally] I like dogs.
Cara: [ever the realist] I trained it to attack on command.
Leo: [brought down] I could see how that could be useful. Could you train a chipmunk?
Cara: [puzzled] What are you talking about?
Leo: To obey your orders. Attack people. It's probably too hard, right?
[Cara is vaguely amused]
Leo: Ah... the mighty chipmunk. Fearless, cunning, stalwart. And sworn enemy of the Mord-Sith. Not even the touch of the Agiel... can break its tiny... but heroic heart.
[Cara giggles]
Leo: So, you do have a sense of humor.
Cara: You were right.
Leo: What about?
Cara: [all huffy] If I'm laughing at your ridiculous jokes, I must be tired. I should get some sleep.
[goes off]
Leo: Sleep well. And don't worry... I'll protect you from the chipmunks.
[Cara smiles as she walks away]

Kahlan: If these prisoners are going to gain their strength back, we're gonna have to feed them something more substantial than D'Haran gruel.
Cara: [sarcastic] Should we draw them warm baths as well?
Eleanor: [mother, with son, approaching] Do you know of anyone heading in the direction of Deerfork?
Cara: The Dragon Corps wiped out Deerfork months ago.
Eleanor: [clutching her son's shoulder] But that's my father's village.
Kahlan: [compassionate] We'll try to find out where the survivors have relocated.
Cara: Deerfork was a resistance stronghold. No one would have been left alive.
Eleanor: But my father wasn't a resistance fighter. He was just a locksmith.
Cara: That would have made no difference to the Dragon Corps.
[causing Kahlan to give her an admonishing look]
Eleanor: [whining] Where will we go? The rest of my family died here.
Kahlan: I am... so sorry for your loss. But you need to be strong for your son. We'll see what we can find out about your father.
[Eleanor sobs quietly]
Cara: You shouldn't give her false hope.
Kahlan: [whirls] It wasn't so long ago that you served the one who caused all this misery. At least try to show some compassion.
[turns away, guides Eleanor]
Kahlan: Come with me.
[Cara considers all this]

Zeddicus: Richard Cypher, though the road will be long and the outcome unknown, will you undertake this journey?
Richard: I will.
Zeddicus: Will you leave behind your friends and all that you have known?
Richard: I will.
Zeddicus: Though, the forces of evil are sworn to bring about your death, still, will you go on?
Richard: I will.
Zeddicus: And will you accept the name of the Seeker?
Richard: I will.
Zeddicus: Then I, First Wizard Zeddicus Z'ul Zorander so name you.
[Zedd points his fingers down at the ground blasting fire. A circle of fire forms around Richard's feet. Richard raises the Sword of Truth and thunder crashes]

Anna: Any news of my brother?
Viceroy: I've got every available man searching for him. I'll find him, I promise. Anna? I'm going to take care of you.

Giller: Captain Ericon, inform Lord Rahl that we are making progress, despite today's, um, disappointment.
Captain: Yes, Wizard.

Cara: I thought the compass was supposed to point the way to the Stone of Tears, not the nearest tavern.

Rachel: [abducted girls rescued] Kaylan! I knew you'd come!
Kahlan: We have to go! Fast! Help me get them out of here!
Cara: I didn't come for the children.

Denna: Leaving so soon, Cara?
Cara: Your merchandise is too delicate for my taste.
Denna: Of all the sisters of the Agiel... you're the last I expected to find with Richard.
Cara: I serve Lord Rahl. You serve anyone with a purse full of coin.
Denna: You may find this hard to believe, but I have a great deal of affection for Richard. I admire him. But Lord Rahl?
Cara: You doubt it?
Denna: Do you truly believe that Richard has what it takes to rule the empire? Is he bold enough? Ruthless enough?
Cara: It's not the place of a Mord-Sith to question a Lord Rahl, only to serve him. And if you were still a true Mord-Sith, you'd serve him too.
Denna: Under the right circumstances I might, but I fear Richard's been compromised.
Cara: Compromised?
Denna: By Kahlan. You've seen the way they are together. She wouldn't need to confess him to do her bidding. He'd sacrifice anything for her... his mission... even you.
[nods]
Cara: You don't know the first thing about the Mother Confessor.
Denna: I know that Kahlan Amnell doesn't care for Mord-Sith. She tried to kill me... twice.
Cara: She's a woman of honor! She spared my life... even after she learned I killed her sister. Her loyalties aren't in question.
[walks away]
Cara: Yours are!
Denna: Safe journey, Cara! I'll take good care of Richard.
Cara: [halts, doesn't look back] If he has so much as a scratch when I get back... you'll be sorry.
[walks off, with Denna staring after her with tearful eyes]

Zeddicus: [speaking of Richard Cypher] Mord'Sith will torture him within an inch of his life, and when they're done, he'll do whatever they command.

Frytss,: You're not just doing this because I look like this, are you?
Clayre,: Oh,
[laughing: ]
Clayre,: if I cared about looks, do you think I'd have picked the likes of you to begin with?
[both laugh]
Frytss,: We'll get out of this, Clayre. No matter what. We've gotten out of worse. Like the time we were doing the kidnapped sister in Glensborough.
Clayre,: [laughing] And the Duke walked in when I was changing my wig.
Frytss,: And he threw us into the dungeon with that ogre.
Clayre,: Who smelled of rotten monkeys.
[laughs, then slaps him hard]
Clayre,: None of which would have happened if you hadn't taken it upon yourself to deflower the Duke's daughter. Have you ever met a woman who you thought wouldn't look better with her knickers on the bedpost?
Frytss,: Clayre...
Clayre,: Oh, don't even try. I'd have to be a few tomatoes short of a salad to go down that garden path again. I don't know about you, but I am getting out of this dung heap.
[at: ]
Clayre,: Hello? Anyone out there?

Serena: You cannot wish evil away. You cannot love evil away. You can only destroy it!

Sister: I have to go before they catch me talking to you. The choice is yours. Trust me and escape. Or stay here until they decide to let you out.

Kahlan: [re Cara] If I ever see her again, I'll kill her.

Kahlan: [thigh injured by sword] You should keep going. You'll move faster alone.
Cara: [unsympathetic] Obviously. But I made a promise to Richard.
[Kahlan takes bandage off her wound, and gasps with pain]
Cara: It's infected. We need to burn the wound closed.
Kahlan: We don't have time to make a fire.
Cara: [as she draws her Agiel] I don't need a fire.
[holds it up]
Cara: But it will hurt.
Kahlan: I've been struck by an Agiel before.
Cara: Not like this.
Kahlan: Do it.
[the searing heat of the Agiel burns into her flesh, she winces, holds out without losing consciousness, looking into Cara's eyes]
Cara: I'm impressed. Even the strongest Mord-Sith would have fainted.
Kahlan: [dazedly] Yeah.
[faints]
Cara: Kahlan?

Cara: Did you throw the Gars off our tracks?
Kahlan: Yes, but I twisted my ankle.
[Night Wisp warbles worriedly]
Cara: [to the little creature] Don't worry, she'll live.
Kahlan: [smiles] You understand her.
Cara: It wasn't that hard, once it started speaking clearly. Here, you take her.
Kahlan: Cara... her light is getting weaker. We don't have much time. With my ankle, I won't be able to move fast enough. It's up to you to get her to the birthing ground.

Kahlan: [as Richard views the reflection of his scar in sword blade] Does it hurt?
Richard: It's nothing.
Kahlan: The spirit of the tyrant you killed comes back from the grave and burns the mark of the Keeper in your chest?
[her fingers glide over the scar and she shakes her head]
Kahlan: It's not nothing, Richard. I wish I knew what it meant.
Richard: [grabs her hand] What we do know is we need to seal a rift between this world and the Underworld. And to do that, we need to find the Stone of Tears. And to find the Stone, we need to get to the Abbot of Ulrich.

Cara: Well, Wisp, It's just you and me. And we have a long way to go, so...
[sighs]
Cara: What do you wanna talk about?
[Night Wisp warbles]
Cara: Huh? Hmm. This would be so much easier if you used words instead of chirping. I'll bet you wish Kahlan was here instead of me. The truth is you're lucky I'm here. Kahlan couldn't have run all night and got you safely out of Gar territory like I did. I'm faster than she is. I have more endurance. I'm also better in a fight. If it weren't for me, everyone in this quest would be Shadrin food by now.
[Night Wisp continues warbling]
Cara: I'm not boasting. I'm simply...
[scoffs]
Cara: Wait. Did you just say I was boasting?
[laughs]
Cara: I can understand you.
[bossy: ]
Cara: Say something else.
[more warbling]
Cara: Kahlan is close?
[looks around]
Cara: Where?

Zeddicus: [re the party] Care to join them?
Cara: I'd rather fight Gars.

Denna: [bursting into cabin, disturbing five peaceful nuns] Do as I say, and only some of you will get hurt!

Richard: Zed, what I did...
Zeddicus: That wasn't you. Man doesn't possess the power of Orden so much as the power of Orden possesses the man.
Richard: No, it was me. I felt that anger, that hatred. I still do.
Zeddicus: If you didn't, you'd be a statue, not a man. We all have dark desires, yearnings for vengeance; and you must remember how those feelings stirred your blood... because what marks the line between good and evil is the choice not to act on them.

[first lines]
Zeddicus: If the compass continues pointing us south, we'll go right past the Falls of Aldermont.
Richard: Is that someplace important?
Kahlan: It's considered the most romantic spot in all the Midlands.
Zeddicus: Many a child was conceived beneath those cascading waters.
Kahlan: I was there once. It's beautiful.
Richard: Oh, really? And who were you with?
Kahlan: My sister.
[smiles]
Kahlan: When the sun sets, the light hits the falls, and the water glistens red. They say it's the reflection of all the lovers' hearts who've kissed there.
Cara: That, or a reflection of the blood spilled at the Battle of Aldermont.
[with: ]
Cara: Two hundred men were killed in that spot. The rest threw their bodies into the rapids rather than surrender.
Richard: Well, that does sound romantic.

Sister: Lord Rahl.
[bows head]
Darken: Your sisters slumber so peacefully while the Keeper wages war.
Sister: Say the word, and I'll rouse them.
Darken: The Mother Confessor and the Seeker are on their way to the Winding Wall of Valdaire in search of an ancient scroll. You and your sisters are to get there before they arrive. Lie in wait, but do not... attack until the Seeker finds the scroll. Once he has it, I want you to steal it.
Sister: Why do you want the scroll?
Darken: It contains secret instructions for the bearer of the Stone of Tears. If the Seeker has this scroll, he will defeat the Keeper.
Sister: Then I will get the scroll and destroy it.
Darken: No. Once you get the scroll, it is the Keeper's wish that you protect it with your life. Once you've gotten it safely away from the Seeker, I will come and tell you what to do with it next.
[Sister Marianna bows her head respectfully in obedience]
Darken: Oh. Yes, one more thing. There is an aged scolar traveling with the Seeker. I've sent the wizard Zorander to kill him, but if for some reason the Seeker prevents the wizard from killing this old man, I want you to make sure... that he dies.
Sister: [smiles] My sisters and I will leave no survivors.
Darken: Consider it a victory if you manage to kill the old man and get the scroll.

Zeddicus: Wizard's second rule: The greatest harm can come from the best intentions.

Zeddicus: You're making the magic that's being peddled on the streets of Drundril. Why?
Jeziah: The sale of these potions will allow me to raise a militia. An army of the Midlands. A force powerful enough to fight Rahl and his followers.
Zeddicus: Jeziah. I want to defeat Darken Rahl too, but selling magic? It goes against everything we believe in, everything I taught you!
Jeziah: Those teachings are from another era, old friend. Rahl isn't playing by any rules.
Zeddicus: And that justifies exploiting these villagers?
Jeziah: Their lives are dreary. They're suffocating under Rahl's edicts. Magic gives them an escape.
Zeddicus: Magic is rare, it's special. You can't just sell it on the streets to anyone for a few copper coins. In the wrong hands, it ruins lives, it kills!
Jeziah: One village is a small price to pay if we can save the rest of the Midlands.

Richard: I'm not who you want me to be! Maybe all those years ago you saved the wrong child.
Zeddicus: No. you are the true seeker. You have a great destiny ahead of you Richard Cypher. If you're willing to accept it.

Zeddicus: Wizard's First Rule: People will believe a lie because they want it to be true or because they're afraid it MIGHT be true.

Darken: [to his captives] I know how this must pain you both... greatly. Seeing the one you love in such misery. Almost as painful as sharing an undying love which you can never consummate.
Kahlan: And what would you know about love... except that you will never feel it... from anyone?

Richard: Mistress Denna, would you allow Constance to train me tomorrow?
Denna: [shouting angrily while smacking Richard] Why are you asking for Constance? You prefer her touch to mine? Obviously, I've been too easy on you! Why do you ask for her? Answer me!
Richard: Because it hurts you to use the Agiel. I don't want you to suffer any more because of me.
Denna: I've never known anyone like you, Seeker.

D'Haran: I'm not here to fight. I'm here to deliver a message from Mistress Denna. She holds the girl's mother at the Cave of Sorrows. You bring the box or she dies. You have until nightfall.
Jennsen: We have to go. Now.
Zeddicus: I'm sorry, child, but we cannot forfeit the final Box of Orden for one person's life.
Richard: That's easy for you to say. She's not your mother.
Zeddicus: No. She's my daughter.
[a few seconds of silence]
Zeddicus: Yes, I'm your grandfather.
[turns to Jennsen]
Zeddicus: And apparently yours as well, child.

Darken: [bathing in his indoor pool, interrupted by rogue Sister Nicci slaying two Mord-Sith] Quite a dramatic entrance, Nicci. Even for you. To what do I owe the pleasure?
Sister: It appears you and I now have something in common. Neither of us serves the Keeper anymore.
Darken: Tiresome old creature, isn't he? So hard to keep him happy.
Sister: And you won't be very happy when the Seeker fails and your former master gets his hands on you again. He's not known for forgiving those who betray him.
Darken: And the Seeker is not known for failure.
Sister: Have you forgotten the Prophecy? He will deliver the Stone to the Enemy of the Light.
Darken: If there is one thing I've learned, it's never to wager against my brother. Prophecy or not, he will succeed.
Sister: Your overconfidence can only mean one thing. You know that Richard already has the Stone, and where he's taking it. Tell me.
Darken: Why in all creation would I tell you?
Sister: I can protect him, but only if you tell me where he's going.
Darken: And how do I know that you're not still in league with the Keeper?
Sister: So the great Darken Rahl is just gonna wait for his little brother to save the world?
Darken: Oh, waiting's not so bad, as long as one finds amusing ways to while away the time. Why don't you join me? The water's warm.
Sister: [evil smile] Not as warm as it's going to be.
[zaps pool with lightning bolt, boils Darken Rahl alive]
Sister: Where is the Seeker taking the Stone?
Darken: [in scalding water] The Pillars of Creation!

Arina: [approaching on horseback] Please, wait!
[dismounts hurriedly, is in panicking state]
Arina: Are you the Seeker?
Richard: Yes.
Arina: Thank the Spirits! The constable in Dewith told me you were headed this way.
Richard: It's all right. Catch your breath. Come on, sit down. What happened?
Arina: Two days ago, men kidnapped my husband. They took other people from our village too.
Richard: Who were these men?
Arina: I don't know. We were in the field, bringing in the harvest. They came with swords and clubs. Grabbed as many as they could and rode off with them in a wagon.
Cara: Maybe you haven't heard, but the Seeker is on a quest. Perhaps this constable of yours can help you.
Richard: [admonishing] Cara!
Arina: The constable can't help us. He's got his hands full fighting the banelings.
Zeddicus: [alarmed] Banelings?
Arina: There seem to be more of them in our valley every day.
Kahlan: Could banelings have abducted these people for some reason?
Cara: Banelings don't kidnap people, they kill them.
Zeddicus: Yes, but they have to do it every single day to stay alive. Maybe they're stocking up on victims.
Richard: [to Arina] If you take us to where your husband was grabbed, we'll pick up the trail of the wagon.
Cara: [impatiently] That will take days!
Richard: We'll get back to looking for the Stone of Tears. Right now, this woman needs our help.
[Cara is annoyed]

Sister: You did well, Sisters. But there's no time for celebrating. The Keeper's work remains undone. Richard Cypher is trapped in the Valley of Perdition, and we need to get him out, so that he can fulfil the Prophecy and deliver the Stone to the Keeper.

Zeddicus: What we value most, is often closer than we think.

[last lines]
Darken: [conjured up by Nicci again] The Keeper is not pleased.
[voice makes an echo]
Sister: Actually, I've been thinking about the Keeper. And since it appears you still run his errands, perhaps you could deliver a message for me. Tell your Master I no longer serve him.
Darken: Don't tell me the Seeker has gotten to you.
Sister: My loyalties aren't with the Seeker. Nor are they with the Creator or the Keeper.
[eyes turn cat-like, glowing eerily in the dark]
Sister: My strength is mine and mine alone. And from now on, I serve only myself.
[full jungle-cat demonic glare, then she smiles all angelic again, and as if blowing him a kiss, blows him away]

Richard: [plans to dig tunnel or do whatever to rescue Kahlan] We have to get over the wall.
Zeddicus: And once were inside? It will be three of us against hundreds, with no magic at our disposal. I believe there's another way. Apparently, the margrave is about to choose a new bride to share with him the eternity he's purchasing with Kahlan's life. Every high-born beauty in the Midlands has been competing to be chosen, but the margrave has narrowed down the selection to the countess of Dunstable and the princess of Thryce. They'll both be arriving at the palace tomorrow morning...
Richard: Zedd, why are you telling us the local gossip when Kahlan is going to be handed over to the Sisters of the Dark?
Zeddicus: Because the margrave has known the countess for years, but he knows the princess only by her glowing reputation. He has never actually laid eyes on her. If the princess and her retinue happened to be intercepted on their way, we could arrive at the palace in their place, and be welcomed with open arms. All we need is a princess.
Cara: [clearly agrees that it's a good idea, nods, then realizes:] Oh, no. Mm-hmm.
Richard: Cara, it could work.
Cara: I'm no princess!
Zeddicus: No, you're not. Especially not this princess, who is renowned for her delicacy, her charm, and most especially, her virtue.
[Cara is dismayed]
Zeddicus: But the impossibility of the task must not prevent us from undertaking it.
[spells the princess and her entourage,: ]
Zeddicus: Her Serene Highness, Princess Lorelyn of Thryce.
Cara: [regards this very portrait of a lady:] I think we should dig the tunnel.

Serena: [their foe wants the male Confessor baby] It's the darkness reaching for the darkness. But he will not have it!

Flynn: [all flirty] You know, it's a long road to Pamorah. It could get a little lonely.
Cara: You're right.
[softly: ]
Cara: It is a long road to Pamorah.
[seems receptive to his attentions, but then her Agiel connects with his tender spot, and Flynn yells in pain]
Cara: And if you wanna make it there in one piece, you won't try my patience.
Flynn: [hunched forward] The Seeker said you needed me alive.
Cara: Yes. But he didn't say you had to be comfortable.

Sister: I could still force you to lead me to the Stone.
Richard: [sword ready] I will fight you until my last breath.
Sister: [It's a standoff with him glaring at her as she looks at him with cold disdain] Prophecy says you'll find the Stone and give it to the Enemy of the Light. You're more use to the Keeper alive than dead.
[walks off]

Jeziah: You should kill me.
Zeddicus: We're taking you to a healer. You'll wear the Rada'han for the rest of your life. You'll never have the powers of a Wizard again, old friend.
Richard: You know him?
Zeddicus: I thought I did.

Prioress: Rahl believed the bearer of the rune would arrive one day, so he stationed an elite guard around the tomb. After Rahl fell, the villagers rose up and killed them. Every last D'Haran. But they came back from the dead.
Cara: Banelings. That's what everyone around here is so afraid of.

Annabelle: My whole life I wanted to see the world. And now that I'm out here,
[shakes her head]
Annabelle: I don't understand it.
Flynn: I can teach you.

Flynn: I thought I was dead.
Cara: I brought you back.
[no desired response]
Cara: You're welcome.

Richard: This is the longest the compass has ever pointed in one direction.
Cara: Who would have ever dreamed that the Seeker could go for twelve days without stopping to save helpless children or distressed farm animals?
Zeddicus: Perhaps it's a sign that we're nearing the Stone of Tears.
Cara: And then what?
Kahlan: We use the Stone to close the veil.
Cara: But how?
[both Kahlan and Zedd have no answer to this]
Cara: Mm. My point exactly. For three months, we've been going after this mysterious Stone. But none of us has the slightest clue what we're actually supposed to do with it... once we find it.

Zeddicus: The boy doesn't need a healer. He just needs a little time. I only wish I had the powers you dreamt up for me. But I do know a few little healing tricks, and one of them is that there's no cure for the frightening grip of a nightmare like telling it to a friendly listener. And there's no one friendlier than Clara. So tell us, did you take up this sword? Did you defeat this dastardly Ranssyn Fane?

Annabelle: I never asked to be a Confessor! I never asked to be locked in a tower! I just wanna be like everyone else!

Kahlan: I have to go to Aydindril.
Cara: [impatiently] It's hundreds of leagues from here!

Richard: Kahlan, about... back at the river. I didn't see anything.
Kahlan: Richard, you should never lie to a Confessor.
[smiles, walks on]

Livia: My husband spent years searching for this book. All the time it was right here.
Zeddicus: What we value most is often closer than we think.

Kahlan: [the forest housing the Night Wisps has been burnt down] They're all dead...!
Richard: Maybe some of them escaped.
Kahlan: Even if they did, where would they go?
Richard: Kahlan, if there's another Night Wisp alive in the world, we'll find it.
Cara: Good thing we don't have anything else to do, like... find the Stone of Tears.
Kahlan: Without the Scroll, we won't know what to do with the Stone. It will be useless.

[Last lines]
Zeddicus: [reading the journey book] Lord Rahl is sending a message.
Richard: What's he saying?
Zeddicus: Four words.
Kahlan: "I will find you."

[Richard is holding a knife to Michael's neck]
Michael: Richard, you wouldn't kill your own brother.
Richard: I seem to remember you telling me we weren't brothers right after you accused me of killing Dad.

Chase: I gotta get back to Hartland. I gotta find my family.
Richard: Then we're coming with you.
Kahlan: But Darken Rahl is in the opposite direction.
Chase: Kahlan's right. You have a bigger fight, my friend.
Richard: I've seen what Rahl's forces can do to people. If I can't protect my own village, what kind of a Seeker am I?

General: Lord Rahl, we've received word from the wizard Giller. He wishes you to delay your journey to the keep. He would like more time.
Darken: He's had enough time. Tell him I'd be arriving as planned.
